Mission:
What Lies Beneath?
Location: Orion Conference Room
Timeline: Curent
Samantha York had set out trays of cheese-filled croissants, pastries and juice for the senior staff. The conversation was going to be serious, so she might as well give them something worth coming for.
For herself she had a large cup of carrot tea and her favorite chocolate-iced doughnut. She stood, cup in hand, looking out the window at the stars shoot by. She always found it interesting to watch the ship travel through warp.
Nava walked into the conference room "Captain." She said as she found a seat "Is everything ok?" She asked watching Samantha look out the window.
"Except for my ship falling apart around me, everything's fine," Sam replied with a wry smile. "How are you doing?"
Nava smiled "Just getting settled and waiting to see what adventures are next for us. The Ghezuns did a number on many systems it would seem." She observed as she went to the replicator and obtained a glass of apple juice.
Turner walked into the conference room. He was sniffling from the cold in the lounge. "How did the food go on the planet?"
"Quite well," Sam replied.
Leroy walked in, looking about. He didn't say much, but sat down and touched nothing. He had no idea what was going to happen, but he didn't like the candy coating the Commander was putting on the situation.
Sam nodded to the Marine XO. "Hello, Lieutenant," she said.
"Morning Ma'am," he said back, making no eye contact. He was talking in his surroundings. News wasn't always good news, but he feared something of the life and death matter was about to be hurled in all their laps.
Bleary-eyed and grumbling a little, Kaj less-than gracefully walked into the conference room. Without acknowledging a single person he made a beeline for the replicator and barked one word.
"Coffee"
Fortunately the replicator actually worked for the moment, and after finding a chair next to Leroy he took a long slow drag out of the mug. It didn't take long for his features to un-bunch and the grimace to subside somewhat.
"Much better. Praise the nectar of the gods that is coffee, especially when one's lights randomly go from off to the equivalent light and heat of Tholia.
So what's the scuttlebutt? I assume we're not here just for morning rations, figuratively speaking
"I'll tell you when everyone gets here," Sam assured him.
Sheridan entered and grabbed a cup of coffee and a roll; he was still armed from a recent foray of rodent blasting. "How are you doing captain?"
"Not too bad, all things considered," she said with a half smile.
Erin walked in, already holding a mug of coffee of her own and sat in the nearest available chair, eying a croissant before glancing up at the captain.
''Not that I'm complaining, but its unusual to have a buffet at a meeting.'' She commented wryly, glancing up at Sam as she reached for the aforementioned croissant.
''Big news?''
Karma walked into the room and found an empty seat. He wasn't sure what was going on and waited to be filled in.
Ensign Cox entered the room at the request of commander York representing the operations department. Wally gingerly popped his head in the door and looked about. As he suspected the room was full of comms. Against his judgment he entered the room and took a juice.
''You requested my presence Ma'am?''
"Yes, I did. Have a seat," Sam replied with a smile.
Doctor Bowen came in just as she heard the Captain telling everybody to have a seat. She nodded at her and walked over to take a seat. She noticed that some of the crewmembers here seemed to be a little tired as she caught a few yawning.
Damon arrived covered in grease from one of the Marine variant Argo's. Unlike many of the officers who were just starting their shifts, Damon had been working for a number of hours in the Marine cargo bay repairing the damage a couple of those damn ghezuns had inflicted upon his vehicles. He walked into the ready room without saying anything as he fastidiously cleaned his hands with a rag. He smiled at Samantha before picking a corner to stand in.
Sam returned Damon's smile and shook her head, chuckling. The man liked to be hands-on.
Ted got some hot coffee and just held it in his hands to help warm him up.
Randy walked in seemingly at the last moment, holding a coffee thermos in one hand, and a PADD in the other. He looked up as he sat, "Did I miss anything?"
