Mission:
Broken Mirror
Location: Briefing Room

"You may have nothing to hide, but I doubt Lieutenant Mira will appreciate you bringing up your personal life in a briefing," Sam replied. "Unless they are relevant to the discussion." She looked pointedly at both Remy and Logan to let them know the behavior would not be tolerated again.

Taking a long sip of his replicated up for himself, Aenar wondered if he should have brought his deputy as well. Then he wondered whether the Marine CO would be bringing Melo. He'd liked Melo's no-nonsense attitude and cool under fire on their away mission. She's his deputy ... I think. He was still unsure of Marine ranks.
Turning to other things of which he was unsure, Aenar regarded the Intel Chief and his deputy as they took their seats. He'd thus far had little interaction with them. The Bajoran waved a hand in their direction by way of greeting.
Sam sighed. "What happens in your personal time is not pertinent and does not need to be shared in a briefing." She directed this to Remy with a raised eyebrow. Then, to Logan, she added. "Nor is it relevant to my question. All I needed to know what that she was taking care of another matter." Sometimes she wondered why Remy insisted on bringing up matters that weren't relevant--unless it was just to put people off their guard.
Kara walked in and took a quick look around, surprised to see so many people. "The captain should be here shortly," she said to Sam, and headed toward the chief science officer.
Seeing Kara walk in, and somewhat relieved to break away from Remy and Logan's pettiness, Bela moved up to Kara and gave her a hug. "Welcome to the briefing."
"Thanks." There was a note of hesitation in her voice as she picked up the tension in the air. She glanced around and decided not to ask.
Danny was late. It was a rarity for the Marine Captain and he hated it but it was done - he'd lost track of time trying to get himself organized and whilst he was now far more familiar with those he commanded than he had been beforehand, he was now running late.
Exiting the lift onto the bridge, a PADD with no real information pertinent to the coming meeting tucked under his left arm, Danny moved swiftly toward the briefing room door which parted as expected revealing a room full of faces he was largely unfamiliar with and only a few that he now was.
"Sorry I'm late," He spoke, trying to hide the sheepishness in his voice as he made a beeline for the nearest empty seat.
"You're not late," Bela informed Rye, as she gave him a warm hug. "The meeting has not begun." With that, she left him and headed back to her seat.
"Welcome, Captain Rye," Sam said. "We've got a full house today, so we're running a bit late. Please, find a seat. We'll begin shortly."
Having worked with Lieutenant Rembrandt before, she cast him a wary glance and took a seat near the chief science officer. Sometimes it was better to be far enough away to watch.
Some last tasks kept Newmark in Medical a little longer than he had thought, he made his way to the Briefing Room with a PADD in hand. moving through the doors he glanced about the room and noted Commodore Samantha.
"Sorry for my delay, getting the Medical supplies organized." He said with his hands behind his back, the additional fingers of his half Nuvian heritage still made him a bit self-aware of them in crowds, especially with new people. "Reporting as requested Ma'am."
"Welcome," Sam said, giving the doctor a nod.
Sam stood to address the group. "What I'm about to tell you is classified. I'll inform the rest of the crew when it becomes necessary, but for now, this is for department heads and their assistants."
She looked around to make sure they all understood before continuing. "We've been asked by Starfleet Command to assist a special response team to investigate a series of attacks by a group of pirates from what has been come to be referred to as the mirror universe."
Bela piped up, "The Mirror Universe? How did they get over here? I thought that had to be a set of highly coincidental circumstances to cross over. Would they even have a way back?"
Frowning Aenar leant forward. 'Weren't the Terran resistance able to develop transporter technology that allowed them to switch from one universe to another? I seem to recall a briefing a few years ago ...'
Sam nodded. "Yes, they did. And now they have a way to fly a shuttle here as well. The team we're helping also has access to that technology."
'A whole shuttle?' Aenar perked up, 'how are they managing that? Some kind of adaptation of their transporters? Or some kind of transmitter that opens a rift between our realities?'
Listening intently, Danny like most had only really heard stories of the so called 'Mirror Universe' but despite all the terrible things that were alleged to have occurred at the hands of the Terrans, there still remained a bit of him that would have been curious to meet his mirror self.
Regardless of that desire though, the Marine recognized the need to stop whatever it was they were up to, "Best we put swift end to whatever it is they're up to," Was the best Rye could really contribute. He wasn't really a scientist or engineer although should the need arise, he'd developed quite a talent for destruction.
"That is the plan," Sam said to Rye's comment. She couldn't help smiling at the comment.
Then she turned to Aenar. "I don't know. Yet. We should be rendezvousing with the team shortly."
"If memory serves, I know the group the Commodore is referring to." Remy spoke up, looking around the table. "Admiral Hunter, of Starfleet Intelligence, has been backing them from quite some time. The entire team are members of Starfleet Intelligence here." He paused slightly before adding. "I heard rumors that their ship was capable of traversing the barrier between the Mirror Universe and ours but I always thought it to be just wild stories. However, I have seen their ship and its entirely custom made and said to be from their universe. It's said to hold an archive of intelligence."
