Mission:
Broken Mirror
Location: Briefing Room
[PREVIOUSLY]
"If memory serves, I know the group the Commodore is referring to." Remy spoke up, looking around the table. "Admiral Hunter, of Starfleet Intelligence, has been backing them from quite some time. The entire team are members of Starfleet Intelligence here." He paused slightly before adding. "I heard rumors that their ship was capable of traversing the barrier between the Mirror Universe and ours but I always thought it to be just wild stories. However, I have seen their ship and its entirely custom made and said to be from their universe. It's said to hold an archive of intelligence."

"You're not going anywhere near it." Damion said firmly, looking over to Remy, before turning to Sam. "If Max is vetting them, Captain, then they won’t let us down."
"Agreed," Sam said, choosing to ignore Remy. She was amused by the conversation and chose not to divulge exactly who contacted her about the mission and the team that would join them. She would let the team introduce themselves when they arrived.
"As we will be assisting, I would like each department to be prepared. There is a very good chance each of you will be needed before this is resolved," Sam added. "Do you have any questions or concerns?"
There was a brief moment of silence in the room before Danny leaned forward, exhaling as he did, "If we are likely to encounter those from the... other universe, perhaps we should look into a way of easily identifying our own. I understand that doubles have a tendency to turn up at the most inconvenient moments."
Sam nodded. "That's a valid point." And one they should resolve before meeting the intel team.
She turned to Torek. "I'd like you to work with medical and see if you can come up with a way to quickly identify those from this universe. I'm not sure if a blood marker or subdermal chip would work best, but I'm sure you'll come up with something."
Newmark thought while the men spoke.
"We could use the background Quantum signature for this universe as a basis. He began. Each reality or universe has a unique detectable footprint from their origin. Being born here we would have this reality as a background in our molecular level. we could scan for our universal tag for all those that are of our universe, and be defined as not local."
Wash had stayed silent so far, content to observe the interpersonal interactions of the crew and absorb the mission data accordingly. Then, suddenly, it was something in his wheelhouse…something technology could solve. “I can help with the equipment if Science and Medical can get the specs needed. We should coordinate our efforts.”
Sam nodded. "I agree. See what you can come up with."
Kara glanced at Daniel before asking, "While you're at it, could you come up with a way we could use tricorders to scan as well? If things get crazy, it would be nice for security and the Marines to be able to scan individuals in the moment to see if they're ours or not."
"I have a question." Remy said calmly as he looked up at Damion, before turning to the Captain.
"Here we go." Damion said softly.
"Once we run into this team... are we going to be granted access to the technology they use to traverse between this universe and theirs?" Remy said firmly before adding. "Knowing how it’s done could help us in dealing with the shuttle that we're supposed to be dealing with. If we can develop some kind of counter-measure to this technology it might make it easier to stop them."
Damion looked to Sam. There had to be more to why Rembrandt was asking about their technology. True, knowing how they passed between the universes would be helpful in dealing with the current threat, but the Imp bringing it up only made Damion more suspicious of his motives. Especially since he only just previously asked about the ships Intelligence archive.
Sam looked at Remy for a moment before responding. "No. That is not part of our job." He'd learn soon enough that the team assigned to work with them was more than capable of dealing with the mirror tech.
"Captain, if the shuttle we are trying to stop is using the same technology, that tech could help us in stopping them." Remy replied firmly. "How can we not use that to our advantage?"
"She's made up her mind, Remy." Damion said. "Let it go. I am sure the team we are working with is capable of handling that problem on their own and keeping us informed."
"Thank you, Damion, but I can handle Mr. Batiste." Sam smiled. She appreciated knowing she had that support, but she would rather deal with Remy herself than let the volatile intel officer get upset with her chief of security.
She then turned to Remy. "Mr. Batiste, I said it was not our job. That means someone else will be handling that part of this assignment. If--and I do mean if--we have an opportunity to get that information, we will not take it. Understood? More details will be forthcoming when the team assigned to work with us arrives."
Putting notes into his PADD, Aenar looked across to Was and nodded. He'd not worked with them before. This'll be nice, probably should rope in McCabe too.
Bela merely sat in her seat, gazing off in the distance, lost in her own thoughts. She had been unusually silent for the remainder of the briefing and her normally cheerful blue eyes looked as if they were turning slightly grey.
"Bela?" Sam asked, wondering why the counselor was disturbed. She wasn't sure if it was an answer for the briefing, or one best kept for after, but she hoped the counselor would tell her.
Seeing the colour in Bela's eyes change, Aenar shot her a look of concern, and glanced at the Commodore at her comment. Maybe I should check in with her after the briefing.
"Everyone, you're dismissed. I'll let you know when the team arrives to help us. Bela, I'd like you to stay." Sam was still concerned about the counselor but felt it was better to talk to her privately.
