Luau (part 1)

Mission: Of Gods and Men
Location: Holodeck

ON

At long last, the peace mission and investigation were over and Sam felt that her senior staff and a number of other crew members deserved a relaxing evening while the ship made its way to the nearest starbase.

So, Samantha scheduled a party on the holodeck. This would be a tropical island paradise, based on one of Earth's Polynesian Islands, complete with a luau, dancers, waterfalls, beaches, surfing, a mountain trail, and plenty of jungle. The dress was strictly casual. Beach wear was optional, but casual wear was essential.

Formal invitations had been sent out the day before, attacked to replicated leis, inviting everyone to the party.

Sam herself was dressed in a floral-patterned bikini top, wrap-around skirt, and sandals, a large flower behind one ear, as she waited to greet her guests.

Leroy just about stumbled in, his eyes bleary and still a little sandy with sleep. He was in a basic pair of board shorts and an olive green tank top. His eyes didn't seem to be able to focus for the first few seconds and he decided to hiss like a cat at the sun to see if anyone would laugh. It'd been a harsh couple of days, or at least he hadn't slept in a couple of days, but had set the alarm for this party so that he didn't make anyone angry at his absense.

'Excuse me," he said as he closed in on the captain, taking off at a Sprint in the sand, while barefoot. When he reached the water he kept going, diving through a wave when he was about up to his hips, then trudging back up the shore. "Morning Captain," he said as he looked a little more awake.

Sam shook her head, grinning. "Hello, Master Sergeant," Sam replied, chuckling.

"Well, that's one way to wake yourself up" Cam said, as he walked over towards them. He was wearing a pair of knee length, desert cammo cargo shorts with a SFMC sleeveless shirt. "Let's just hope that this program doesn't go on the fritz"

"It works," Leroy said as he dripped. "I may need to talk to you a little later about weapons, like qualifying on more than just the fighters pistol."

Yui was next to join the group. She was wearing a light blue bikini top, a matching swimming skirt and a thin see through white jacket over her shoulders. Under her arm she carried a huge green watermelon. She wandered over and gave everyone a smile, blushing a little when she saw Leroy.
"I brought us a watermelon... has anyone ever done Suikawari before? Its a game we play on the beach..."

Drani entered the holodeck, dressed in a solid green bikini with a wrap around see thru crochet dress and sandals. "Captain," she nodded, taking in the site of the beach surrounded by lush jungle. "Can't say I have ever heard of Suikawari," she said to Yui.

"Neither have I," Sam admitted. "You'll have to tell us how you play it," she said to Yui.

"Why are you still here?" Jethro asked Jennifer.

The seemingly random question broke Jennifer from her concentration and caught her off-guard. "Because you asked me to be here." she replied with a hint of sarcasm.

"I know that! I mean why are you still in this room and not in the lounge?" Jethro asked in a tone leading one to believe Jennifer had missed an important appointment.

"Why would I be in the lounge? I have more pressing matters here then a break. I'll sleep in a bit." Jennifer stated clueless to what Jethro was getting at.

"Because the crew is having a party and you're not there." Jethro retorted.

"But I'm not part of the crew. I'm here helping you find your daughter's murderer." Jennifer stated flatly.

Jethro put his hand over his face shaking his head letting out a long drawn sigh. "For a would-be first officer you sure are clueless." he said, his words slightly muffled through his hand.

"What? Oh...I suppose." Jennifer responded realizing what Jethro had been trying to tell her. "I should go make an appearance." She rose from her chair stretching as she got up.

"Not like that you aren't." Jethro stated pointing out her uniform.

Jennifer looked down at her uniform looking for the problem Jethro was pointing out. "What's wrong with this?"

"You're overdressed Jennifer. Think Risa." Jethro responded with a sly smile.

"I see." Jennifer said with a nod. "Alright then, I will see you later."

"Much later." Jethro replied to her as she walked out the door.

-Holodeck-

Leroy was also stumped. "Not something I've ever heard of. You may have to show me later how to play," he said to the blushing Yui. "But I can't stay too long, gotta rebuild. Or get used to a Delta." Shuddering at the thought of getting used to a vessel that hadn't been his, he laughed. "And Captain, that special project you asked for; for a certain Colonel is almost done. I'm doing some engraving first."

"Thank you," Sam replied with a bright smile. She hadn't forgotten the request and her anniversary was coming up. The timing would be perfect.

"Its a Japanese game" Yui began to explain. "We place a big watermelon on a blanket on a warm beach. Then you get blindfolded, spun around three times and then you have to break the watermelon with a stick" she explained.

Jennifer entered the lounge sans her starfleet uniform instead exchanging it for a black bikini with a teal sheer silk garment she wrapped around her waist. At first she felt underdressed for a senior officer however once she saw the Commodore's wardrobe those fears were soon dissolved. After taking a quick survey of the room she swiftly slinked towards the bar ordering a drink. "Something fruity." she said looking back to the crowd as she awaited her drink.

Kara arrived next, dressed in an olive drab bikini top and a pair of matching shorts. She spotted Cam and grinned, heading over to join him.

Maria and Jayna came in next. Maria wore a halter top and skirt in a bright yellow and green floral print. Jayna wore a black bikini with a wrap tied around her waist and tied on one hip, leaving one leg bare.

Maria headed over to a group of scientists while Jayna headed for the bar.
