Mission:
Deadly Diplomacy
Location: Conference Room
ON
To let her senior staff and other key personnel know what was going on and why they weren't leaving just yet, Sam called a briefing.
She set out the usual pastries and beverages and waited for everyone to arrive.
Leroy stepped into the room, with a dark pair of glasses over his eyes. Grabbing a large cup, he poured himself a large coffee, and sat in the dark corner, rubbing his brow.
Arnon entered the room and took a seat. He poured himself a cup of tea and selected a blueberry scone. He took a sip of his tea, a bite of his scone, and another sip of his tea. Seemingly satisfied, continued this process while he waited for the meeting to start.
"Hello, gentlemen," Sam said. "Thank you for coming." She glanced at Leroy, but decided to leave him in peace for now. He and his fighters had been busy lately, and she wasn't so sure they wouldn't be needed again.
"Sorry ma'am, got a bit of a headache. It should pass soon enough." Groaning at the sound of his own voice he laid his head on the table. He was exhausted but argued with a corpsman that had tried to order him to bed rest. Protecting his home was all that mattered to Leroy.
"How long has it been since you slept, Master Sergeant?" Sam asked.
"Do you happen to know what day and week it happens to be Commodore?"
"That's what I was afraid of," she replied. She made a mental note to order him to sleep if she had to, but not until this particular crisis was over.
Illise entered the conference room with a PADD in her hands containing various reports from the Science Department, with the look of someone who had been up most of the night reading. Despite being tired, she was trying not to let the slight nervousness she felt show. This was after all her first command-level briefing. She poured herself a coffee and glanced at the tray of pastries, trying to decide if she really wanted one. She hadn't had much time lately for a good workout. Talking a raspberry turnover, she moved away from the tray and sat at the table, making a mental note to schedule in some time to visit the gym. "Good-day Commodore." She greeted Sam, "Master Sergeant, Lieutenant."
Sam nodded to Illise. "Welcome."
Ignatz entered the conference room carryingt a ridiculously oversized coffee mug in one hand, and a PADD in the other. He nodded to Sam as he found the seat he usually took. He looked at the tray of pastries and forced himself to look away. He remembered how fat he had gotten on the station, and with all the baked goods his parishioners sent his way, he was getting quite enough carbs in his diet. He was doing his best to eat right, with lean (read near flavorless) meats, veggies and fruits. He sighed and shook his head turning his mind away from food altogether and back to the matters at hand.
Yui entered next. She blushed slightly after seeing Leroy. She moved quickly into a seat next to him and reached for a pastry. It wasn't as good as his cooking but it was still good enough. She nudged him slightly with her knee.
"Erm... thanks for last night..." she whispered to him.
Leroy smiled and nodded, taking a sip from the huge mug. "Its what I do Lieutenant, take care of damsels in distress."
Yui simply blushed in response giving him a small smile.
Chris buried a yawn as he entered the conference room, holding a PADD. "I'm not late, am I?" He asked.
Walking into the briefing room, Cam moved over to one of the empty chairs without a word. He hadn't been sleeping well lately and it was starting to show.
Sam noticed him and sighed. Her crew needed a break after this one.
Kela finally walked into the Conference Room. She ran into several small incidents on her patrol and couldn't help but be late. With a smiled, she nodded to those who were there and went right to the replicator to get herself her usual Raktajino.
Remy walked in soon after, followed by the large Caitian Logan. Spock the Capuchin who was sitting on Logan's shoulder, giving him a high perspective of the room and the occupants in it.
"My apologize." Remy said quickly as he took his seat and looked over to York. "Logan and I were busy with our investigation which has begun to show much promise."
"Excellent," Sam said. "Stay after the briefing and give me a report."
Damon entered and took a look at all the new faces. He smiled "It's nice to see so many new faces." He nodded to the new ones and those who had been recently promoted.
Sam's eyes lit up at Damon's entrance. "Glad you could make it."
Newmark came through the door with a PADD in hand. HE nod to the Commanding officer.
Munich had slipped into the Conference Room and away into a far part of the room to be unobtrusive.
The clicking of heels was heard slightly before the doors opened and Spartacus came into the room in her pressed Skirted uniform, light silver dangling earring hoops and a bracelet on her left wrist. She had the tights on today as it had a more elegance to it and while on the delegation duty she wished to look her best.
Sam nodded to the new arrivals. "Glad you could make it," she said.
Austin was the last to make it to the conference room. It had felt like she had not slept well in weeks. Her eye lids felt like they had 20 kilogram weights hanging from them. She walked straight over to the replicator and ordered an extra large coffee with a double shot of espresso. "Sorry I'm late Captain."
"I'm just glad you're here," Sam replied. And another one of her crew who needed to sleep for a week. Sam ran a hand through her hair. She hadn't slept much, but she had Damon and he made all the difference. "Soon," she promised mentally.
Sam waited for everyone to get some food and get settled and then began.
