Mission:
Peace, or Something Like It
Location: various
Timeline: current
[Calypso Bridge]
[OLD]
"It's showtime." Kyt said with a nod. Her hands played across the controls. "Let's minimize possibility for collateral damage to the fighters. Phaser arrays at full. Attack Pattern Alpha Omega Four, taking in to account for friendly craft. Helm, transferring notes on strategy."
[NEW]
Jerry had been sitting at the Science station and reviewing the scans of Turkana IV when all this broke out. Without saying a word, he switched off the planetary sensors, training the sensory power of a Galaxy-class vessel upon the enemy ships. He began scanning for lifesigns, to see who it was they were about to defend themselves from, exactly.
Kyt scowled, as she looked at some of the scan readings her terminal was displaying. "Lifesign scans?" Kyt muttered. "In the middle of battle, while the enemy has shields up?" She shook her head. "Boy, the prophets certainly aren't being helpful. Daniels, use the secondary controls. Try and isolate specific places in the target areas where the shields are weaker."
Daniels shook his head. "These are targeting scanners, ma'am. You are firing. They can only do one thing at a time."
Kyt shook her head. "Then we're just going to have to bully our way through. Captain, permission to reset to maximum damage harmonization."
"Lieutenant O'Connor, what are we facing?" Sam asked, wanting an answer before giving tactical the go-ahead.
O'Connor's fingers danced across the Science panel, and he blinked lightly. "Captain, seeing as I can find no data on the ship's configurations in the Starfleet database, I can only suggest that we may be dealing with the same group that attacked the Osprey - the Orion Syndicate. I'm currently running a scan for their life-signs, but they're trying to jam it. Give me two minutes."
In reality, it wasn't going to take anywhere near that long, but he wanted to pad the timing just enough that if something went wrong, he'd still be well within his timing.
"I want a boarding party ready to take the farathest ship once the fighters take down their shields and power."
Kyt scowled. Another Phaser barrage. "Current weapon strength ineffective. Recommend higher damage yields. With the fighters this close, I'm a little nervous about torpedo launching."
"Agreed," Sam said after contacting Damon and Leo. "Protecting our people is your primary concern."
"Calypso, IceHeart. Their sensors can't track us, they aren't quite up to par, especially with so many of us out here. Target ship is disabled and non warp capable, if you are getting Marines on board, NOW is the time to do it. Before they have a chance to try and blow the ship."
"Excellent. Thank you, IceHeart." She tapped her combadge. "York to Raine and Mangalia. Go now."
[Engineering]
Kahlaras just finished running diagnostics on the warp and impulse engines, everything was running smoothly as he had liked and there were no issues thus far.
"Chief, I'm getting indications that a few EPS conduit relays are out of sync." Marek called to Kahlaras.
"Get an engineering team to troubleshoot and fix the problem conduits. I'll make sure no more go out of sync." Kahlaras responded.
Marek nodded. "Aye," and hurried off to assemble a team.
[Bridge]
"Gunny Kyt, keep firing on the ships. Protect the fighters ad the away team," Sam ordered. Another volley hit the shields. "If you can, take out the other ships."
"Aye Ma'am."
[Engineering]
Kahlaras worked away on a console to prevent any conduits from blowing. The last thing they needed was the wrong conduit to go up and the whole ship lose power."There, that should do it." he said to himself as he began to go to another console. The ship shook again and the console he was just at exploded erupting into fire."So much for those preventive measures. Get a fire control team on that console!!" he barked as his crews jumped into action.
[Elsewhere on the ship]
Marek and his engineering team found the first out-of-sync relay. They started working on isolating the section of conduit that needed replacing so it was safe to remove it from the grid. Though something went wrong and the ship being under attack didn't help as another section of the conduit exploded.
The engineering team did their best to avoid getting hurt but no such luck as all of them sustained burns including Marek but he was in a position to reach up, painfully, and cut off the conduit from the grid with a few taps of the control panel on the wall.
Marek with effort slapped his combadge. =^= Lovok to Sickbay, 3 engineers and myself, EPS burns hurry! =^=
=^=Sending someone on your way. Bowen out!=^=
[Diplomatic offices]
Nava felt the ship change position and looked out the windows to see the mercenary ship attacking. She shook her head and went back to her desk. Not sure exactly what she could do in combat. She sat down and stared out the window.
[Bridge]
One of the merc ships received a direct hit and burst into a fireball.
Another ship turned tail and left, only to be chased by several fighters.
"Yeah. Mercenary vessels against a galaxy class." Kyt muttered. "Should have turned tail and ran, the moment we approached. You aren't getting away that easy."
She rearranged her targeting pattern, watching out for the fighters, and started hammering the shields surrounding the warp engines. It took a few tries, and she almost burnt out the Starboard phaser array, but she punched a good hole, right where she wanted it. A quick disabling shot later, and the ship was now listed as sans warp.
"That's another one essentially gone. Warn the fighters that they've still got weapons and impulse. Just in case there are any screwball hero types in the lot." Kyt noted.
"Nicely done," Sam said. Then she passed the information to the fighter wing.
"IceHeart acknowledges, Calypso. Already on it, preparing to send them to meet their makers."
"Just don't follow them, IceHeart," Sam said half-joking. "Keep them busy until the Marines can finish their job."
"Roger, Calypso. As soon as they are taken care of, Eagle Squadron will maintain station keeping around the captured vessel, with Hawk Squadron taking up position around the Calypso to discourage any further attacks."
"Roger, IceHeart. I'll let you know the moment the marines are back on board."
