Mission: Peace, or Something Like It
Location: New Paris, Turkana IV
Timeline: The morning after "First Meetings"

First thing the next morning, the team beamed into a reception room just outside the main conference room. When they materialized, Sam, who wore her dress uniform, looked at the others. "Keep a sharp eye out. I still don't know what to expect from these people."

Tovan nodded to the Commander. At this point in time he was very unsure of what his role was on this away team but he didn't complain. It was a chance to be in on the first meeting between the Union with the two other sides. He looked at himself as just an observer, an extra pair of eyes that might notice something that no one else does. He waited for the Commander and the rest of the team to enter first before he followed in.

Erin also nodded, imemadiatly scanning the room with her eyes for any kind of recording devices or weapons.
She felt a lot more secure in the knowledge that there was a hunting knife hidden in her left boot. What the higher-ups didnt know wouldnt hurt them, but she was'nt about to arrive in a potentially dangerous situation without being armed.

Nava was relaxed and took in the location calmly. Looking to see what was what and who was were.

Damon on the other hand was not relaxed. Once on the ground he nodded to the squad of Marines with them who then quickly took up positions surrounding the away team. They held their weapons low so as not to take an aggressive stance, but firmly in hand so they could be brought up at a moments notice.

The Marine wasn't too fond of Samantha coming down to the surface so soon after arriving but he understood that it was her job to make a showing of good faith. He didn't voice his concern about her safety provided that he would be within eye sight of her at all times.

A middle-aged woman in a long white dress stepped into the room. "Welcome to Turkana IV. I am Gloriana Vak. The others will be assembling momentarily. I will take you to them."

Sam inclined her head to the woman. "I am Samantha York, Commander of the USS Calypso. Thank you for allowing us to participate in this momentous occasion."

Gloriana smiled serenely. "It is most auspicious. We are fortunate to have The Union come to our world."

Tovan noticed the woman step out of the room. He continued to hang in the back watching her from the corner of his eye and listening to what she had to say. What she said about the Union coming to their world really raised his curiosity level. Who exactly where these people, and what were their true motives? He would be stepping out of line if he began to question this woman so he simply waited for more developments.

Erin intently watched the woman for signs of post-traumatic stress, fear or anything else usually associated with living in a warzone or perhaps even being forced into peace, but nothing was amiss in her expressions or body language.

Nava also watched the woman, but for different reasons, looking for a common ground that she could use if it became necessary during the negotiations. She stepped over to Gloriana "How long has the Union been working on Turkana?" She asked politely "Forgive my forwardness, I'm Ensign Nava." She said to the woman.

"Four months, 21 days, 8 hours," Gloriana said with a benevolent smile. "The first month was... difficult. After that, change came quickly. But all that will be explained."

Sam raised an eyebrow. "How do you know the time so precisely?" Apart from Vulcans, no species cared so much for detail. Or was it just Gloriana?

"When your world has changed as much as mine, you, too, would care as I do." She turned and walked out the door, expecting the others to follow.
