Mission: What Lies Beneath?
Location: Orion

Ted was cleaning up the dead ghezuns with the rest of the lounge staff when he noticed it started to get very cold. "You guys feel that?" he asked Riven.

"Yeah. It's getting cold."

Jemma shivered. "Why is it getting so cold?"

Toras smiled. "I don't know, but it feels good."

Ted tapped his commbadge. "Turner to engineering, it's getting really cold in the lounge, what's going on?"

"C-chief... it's f-f-freezing... in here." One of the ensigns complained.

"Shut up. A team. Combat tricorders, and phasers. You are going vermin hunting. B team, you all have valid field technician certificates. Report to Engineers. C team, physical security around critical areas, and doing random security sweeps." Lorne said, looking around the chilly, and dark Security lounge.

"Aye s-s-ir" was the borderline uniform reply.

"Chief, where will you be?" One of the Ensigns asked.

"Bridge, with Lieutenant JG Lire. I'll send her down to A team later. I know better than to doom Engineering with Queen Duct Tape."

This brought a round of laughter.

=====

Nava began walking around the ship looking for a way to help. It was odd that the power failures started so suddenly.

Being curious, Nava climbed into one of the jefferies tubes and started looking around to see if she could find out what was going on.

Suzette was reading a newspaper. Old-fashioned, but every now and then she liked to hold one in her hand, smell the paper and ink and turn the pages. She hadn't realized the temperature was slowly dropping until she started to shiver. "Computer, increase room temperature."

"Room temperature is set to maximum level," the computer replied.

She set down her newspaper and walked over to her console to check. The computer said it was 55 degrees centigrade. "De Fresa to Engineering." She waited for a minute, but there was no reply. "Computer, is anyone in Engineering?"

"Engineering is offline."

"Great," Suzette mumbled. There was definitely something going on. Suddenly, the holoemitters in her quarters failed and everything around her popped into 3-D. Definitely something going wrong.

====

Erin headed back to her quarters, trying everyone other replicator along the way, all with the same unsatisfying results.
''Interesting first month here.'' She commented to herself, stepping into the turbo lift as the doors closed behind her.
''Crews quarters.'' She told the turbolift, leaning back against the wall and taking out her PADD.
Halfway along, however, there was a highpitched whine and a jolt, and the lights flickered and died.
''What the-'' Erin picked herself up at the floor and ran at the door, ramming her shoulder against it. ''Computer, open the doors!!!''

=Cannot comply.=

''Well then get moving!''

=Cannot comply=

''Tal to engineering, one of the turbolifts just died and I'm in it!''

=Engineering is offline=

''FRAK!!!''

======

Deck 12... Lorne stopped. His head bonked against a turbolift.

He cursed.

A muffled cry came from within the turbolift, and he understood. Someone was trapped in the inoperative lift between him and Deck 10.

He climbed over to the doors to Deck 12, forced them open, and ran the ship's diagrams through his mind. Two Jefferies tubes, a ladder, and two very similar looking jefferies tubes put him infront of the turbolift doors of deck 11.

For this exact reason, he had grabbed a steel pole, which had been holding up one of the chairs in the Security lounge. He wedged it inbetween the doors, and looked at a female Ensign, who's name came to Lorne quickly enough.

"Ms. Tal, it would probably be best to use the jefferies tubes and ladders until the power is properly restored.

The weight of his equipment was getting to him, and he sat down for a few minutes, outside the turbolift.

Erin braced her shoulders against the crack in the doors that the bar made and after a few minutes of struggling managed to pry them open just far enough for her to wriggle out into the open.
She took a few deep breaths before smiling gratefully at a Leiutenant she was unfarmiliar with.
''Thank you, leuitenant. You're probably right, I guess I did'nt realise the extent of the damage to the ships power.'' She shrugged apologetically.
''I'll do so from now on. Are you okay?'' She asked, noticing him sitting down. ''You're not hurt, are you?''

Lorne shook his head. "Heavy gear, lots of space to cover."

Sheridan was very annoyed, These furry beasts had to go and go right now. Who knows how fast they had been multiplying over the span of a few hours. drastic times call for drastic measures...
