Damon stilled his tongue when it seemed the doctor had ignored Samantha's request for assistance. He understood that she was attending a patient in need, but it was likely she didn't know the extent of Samantha's injuries. People can die from fractured ribs if a shard of bone starts to shift.

With a calmed voice he walked up to Leanne and spoke quietly only to her so as not to make a big deal out of it. "Excuse me Doctor. When you are done here, the Captain has sustained a serious injury to her ribs and needs urgent care. I know you won't be able to fix it here, but at least give her something for the pain so that she can think clearly. She is still in command of this mission; it's in all out best interests if she can operate." He was satisfied that his volume was low enough that others wouldn't be able to overhear.

"Of course, I...," she looked behind her to look at the Captain as she didn't noticed that she came in earlier. Leanne figured that being busy with her work kept her mind from noticing as well. "Give me a minute, trying to finish this up so this patient is not going to bleed more."

Since the doctor was busy with Kaj, Samantha gingerly sat down at one of the computer consoles and began to check the analysis of the sand. She hurt a lot, but if she didn't go jumping off cliffs, she would probably be okay until they got back to the Orion.

The sand had a high silicon content, dilithium, bensotronium, and several other trace components. The combination acted as a shield, detracting scans.

Perhaps a tricorder at ground level could get anything? The pod was high enough that the sandstorm could be causing problems as well.

"Any luck?" Lizzie asked, walking over to the Skipper.

Sam shook her head. "Not what I need, but I hope to have more answers soon. Any luck contacting the Orion?"

"No. The storm is causing too much interference. We're totally cut off until it clears up." With a sigh, Lizzie moved off and went back to her console.

"Lieutenant Sinclair," Sam said, motioning to the Intel officer. "Can you come here, please?"

Karma turned at the sound of the voice and nodded. He walked to the Commander's side and said, "What can I do for you?"

Sam had closed her eyes briefly to focus on relaxing her muscles. She opened them when she heard his voice. "I would like you to lead a team back down to the sand. Look for signs of the missing ships. Look for that... creature. We need information." She paused for a moment. "But be careful. The sand is like powder. You won't be able to cross it."

"You want me to gather information? I guess I can give that a try," he said with a smile, trying to lighten the mood a little. "Is there anyone in particular you'd prefer to accompany me?"

"Yes. I thought you'd be a good choice for info gathering," Sam said, smiling. "Take some of the Marines. Lizzie as the science officer. The rest is up to you."

"I'll get a team together right away," Karma said, turning to scan the area for people he felt would be useful for the upcoming task.

Leanne stood up. She walked over to the Captain at the console with the tricorder and immediately started the scans. "Be...real...still," she said slowly. She picked up an osteo-denenerator and started the laser on her back side. As soon as she was done, "You can relax now, Captain. You had a broken 9th rib that was about to puncture your lung and had to get that taken care of immediately. The other two slightly fractured rib have been healed. You should be able to breathe easier, ma'am."

Sam sighed in relief. The pain was gone. "Thank you, doctor." She lay her head back against the chair for a moment and closed her eyes, enjoying the simple task of breathing without pain.
