Mission:
What Lies Beneath?
Location: Shuttle, Coming into the Orion
Timeline: Present
The shuttle flared out of warp one, and seemed to start spinning on its axis. It was a type two shuttle, and no one would miss it for very much longer, but the person inside was praying for a safe delivery. -^-Lieutenant Leroy Mangalia to the ship over yonder, permission to land once I can get there!-^- Static filled his ears as he tried to right the boat, after catching only glimpses of his new home. "Oh God, please don't let this happen again," he muttered, right before the thing stopped spinning like a top. Sighing with relief, he hit a couple of controls, having no idea what he was doing, and the shuttle shot forward like a bullet from a barrel. His eyes went wide, and he started hitting random things, his ship stopping, and spinning like a top again, only in the opposite direction.
-^-Lieutenant, this is Warrant Officer Straub, we have you on our screens, but you seem to be having some problems. Can you clarify as to what they are?-^- Leroy almost wanted to scream at the man, but held his tongue. He was getting sick, and the inertial dampeners were cutting out. -^-I would be that problem Warrant Officer. My pilot woke up dead right before we came out of Warp, and I've been trying to make this thing go as much as possible.-^- The shuttle short forward again, then stopped, sitting in space. Leroy breathed a sigh of relief as he looked around. He could see the Orion, a beautiful ship. Then he placed his hand on the control panel by accident and the shuttle shot forward again.
-^-Word of advice Lieutenant, you're coming in too hot. You need to lower your speed. I can try to talk you in if you need me to, but I don't know what else I can do to help. On the right side of the panel in front of you, you'll see something like a transporter control. That bar should be at full, you need to drag it back to about half, then keep your hand away from it.-^- Leroy did as instructed, and smiled as the ship started to slow down. -^- Good, now to the left side of the panel, you'll see two directional pads. This controls your pitch and roll, don't touch the roll unless you're coming in up side down. Right now you look about fine, so you don't have to touch it. Now, you're coming in about five meters to the left of the dock, so you need to tap the right pitch directional, maybe twice.-^-
Leroy did this, and shuttered as he thought the ship was going to start turning again. He was actually flying as he came at the Orion. He smiled, and started to relax. -^-Ok Warrant Officer, I think I know what I'm doing now. Just keep walking me through this as I come in.-^- He heard the man draw breath to answer him, then the communications relay cut out, and static filled the shuttle. "No! No no no no no!" he cried as he looked at the communications panel, trying to get it back. The screen in front of him suddenly turned off, and he almost started to cry. "What is going on with this stupid thing!" Slamming his hands down on the panel infront of him, the screen lit up, and the shuttle screamed forward, going to full thrusters.
"You've got to be kidding me," he said as he tried to slow the boat down, to no avail. He had forgotten already how to do it. -^-USS Orion, I suggest you open those bay doors.-^- Worried that they didn't hear him, he tried again to slow the shuttle down, and only was able to get it flipped over on its head. Cussing loudly, he noticed the bay doors opening, and people scattering from the bay. He looked at his five point harness and almost cried, as it was worn down and wasn't made for anything like this. Praying to his gods, he slammed into the deck, and started to slide. He didn't notice the net going up, that he completly missed, or the Delta Flyer that he ricocheted off of. Hitting the back wall like a pile of bricks falling from ten stories the ship finally stopped and he looked around. "I survived?" he asked no one in particular. "I survived!" he screamed in glee as he looked around at the fire crews and the medics rushing forward, worried about his safety. Looking to the dead man that was in the pilots seat, he smiled. "Well, at least you got your last landing." Then he blacked out, a laugh on his lips, and a sparkle in his eyes.
