Mission: Broken Mirror
Location: Briefing Room

ON

Samantha York received several messages from Admiral Burke over the course of a week as information became available about pirates stealing Federation technology and equipment. With each message, the information grew more disturbing. Finally, Admiral Hunter contacted her with orders for her crew and information about a special ops team that would be working with them. It wasn't the first time her crew had been called in to help covert ops, but it was the first time the entire ship was involved.

After the last communication, she called her senior staff and their assistants to a briefing. They all needed to be informed of this new assignment and they would each have a role to play.

Bela was the first to arrive for the meeting. Upon spotting the Commodore, she greeted her warmly, "Hello Captain," and then embraced the higher ranking woman in a warm, soothing hug.

"Hello, Bela," Sam said, returning her hug. "Is everything back to normal?" She kept an eye on the crew, but most would tell her everything was fine regardless, so she counted on the counselor to tell her what her crew would not.

"Everything seems to be returning to normal. Stress does not dissipate immediately, but everything will return to normal in time. I'll make sure that everyone is ready, Commodore."

"I'm sure you will." Sam had no doubt of that. In spite of her tendency to hug everything, Bela was a good counselor.

Stepping through the door, Aenar gave a jaunty wave at the two officers present. 'Good ... I think it's afternoon on Bajor, so I'll wish you that.' He took his seat, 'I hope we have some quiet time following our last mission.'

"We could definitely use some," Sam agreed. But they didn't often get that luxury.

A wave was insufficient for Bela. Upon her being waved at, she quickly darted over to Aenar and gave him a hug in his seat. "So good to see you."

Taking up the smaller Risian in his arms, Aenar gave her an enthusiastic bear hug. 'Great to see you too - it must be, what, eight hours since we last saw one another,' he teased.

Wash was running late, an atypical condition for the Chief Engineer. He wasn’t actually late, but close enough that he felt like he was late; for the red-haired Chicagoan, that was enough. He crossed into the briefing room, with a flat white espresso in hand. He raised his cup in salute to those present. “Ma’am. Bela. Lieutenant Torek,” he said in greeting, fully expecting to be accosted by the Counselor at any moment.

-----[Outside of the Briefing Room]-----

Damion stepped out of the turbolift and into the corridor that led to the Briefing room. Behind him stepped out his assistant Tallas and the Chief of Intelligence and his assistant Logan. Damion seemed to be walking prettying quickly, as if trying to get there on time while still trying to avoid Remy. However, this made Tallas require to rush behind, almost dropping her Cafe-Pow cup.

"All I am saying, Batiste, is that your position here can easily be filled by me. I am just as capable, and let’s face it, more liked that you are in the Intelligence Field and on board this ship." Damion blasted before stopping and looking over to Rem sternly. "Take your circus somewhere else."

Logan let out a slight growl as Remy stopped in his tracks, placing a hand on the large Caitlan’s side. "Mister Wolfe, I understand your need to want to take control of both departments. You are clearly capable of handling it, however, you have just become a father."

"Watch it, Imp." Damion replied quickly, shooting him a fierce look.

"I meant to offense, I assure you, I only mean to say that you have more than enough on your plate. Securing the ship. Coordinating security teams. Tactical reports. Now you add fatherhood, a baby girl no less, and it will begin to take its toll on anyone." Remy replied calmly, raising his hands a bit, as he continued. "You should allow yourself the freedom to lose some of that burden. My circus is more than capable of filling in the role and allowing you the chance to spend time with your family. The same man you trust completely is also the man who helped me build my team and asked me to consider coming here."

"So, mind your tongue, Wolfe. We're on the same side here." Logan said in a deep tone.

Damion looked from Remy, to Logan, then down again to the little Intel Chief. "There was no problem with how I was handling myself on this ship before you came here and there is no need for you to be here regarding it."

"No one said there was... and then you took on your old mentor and went onto a ship you've been trying to avoid since you fled. I don't care how much your tried to hide it, doing something like that will force some perspective on any man."

Damion narrowed his eyes and eased down, closer to Remy, before whispering. "Stay out of my head, Batiste."

"Commander...." Remy let out a slight breath before continuing in a calm tone. "Damion, you've put yourself through a lot and the people who care about you are just asking you to relax and not put too much on your plate. Your skills are not being questioned. They only ask you take a step back and allow yourself some time that's been well deserved before you burn yourself out and not be able to function properly as an officer. Especially if this ship requires you to be in top form."

Damion straightened back up, his eyes glancing around at the small group, before replying softly. "Don't begin to think that you are here for anyone but yourself. We are not friends, Imp. Far from it." Before walking off.

"He does need to relax." Tallas said softly aloud before taking a sip of her beverage from the protruding straw.

"Everyone else see's it but him, Miss Shirol." Remy replied, looking up to her with a slight smile. "For all our sakes, I hope he realizes it soon."
