Mission: Point of View

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

"She followed the White Rabbit," the computer replied. "I am unable to scan beyond the Looking Glass."

[NEW]

Yui stared out of the window at the stars. They were slowing and then speeding up.
"Erm, Excuse me" she said standing up. She pointed to the stars outside the window. "We seem to be having throttle issues, either that or someone is being clumsy with the clutch...." Yui said as she rushed towards the door to get back to the helm.

Arnon frowned.

"As no light was let into the room when Yui left," he said. "We can assume the lights in the corridor are also out. This might even be shipwide. We could have everything from minor bumps and bruises to broken limbs and head injuries."

Drani smiled in the darkness. "Ever the optimistic, aren't you?" She then turned towards the Commodore. "With your permission, captain, I would like to head to sickbay and organize medical teams."

"Mind if I tag along?" Arnon said. "I can be an extra set of hands."

"Sure, I could use the company," Drani replied.

"I wonder how deep the rabbit hole goes..." Mara said, referencing Alice in Wonderland. She observed everyone in the room...waiting patiently for Commodore York to give orders. She also couldn't help but think back on her own run in with the computer in her quarters. Funny enough, the situation she experienced was with the lights as well. She would have to have her team look at the issue again.

"Go ahead, Doctor Drani," Sam said. "We'll disband the briefing until the current crisis is over. Go to your stations and report what you find."

"Lieutenant Cross," Sam continued, "We'll have to find out."

Leaving the conference room as quietly as he had entered, Cam made his way down to check on his marines and hand out orders.

[Bridge]

Yui rushed out onto the bridge which was lit by the emergency lighting. Half of the consoles seemed to be not working either. She immediately made her way down to the helm which was flashing and flickering.
"Let me take over" she said relieving the officer battling with the ships engines.

She slid down into the seat, only to find that the helm wasn't responding to anything. The console was flickering and wasn't recognising any command or button she pressed. With a sigh she pulled herself out of the chair and then laid on the floor under the console, popping off its casing to try a manual reset of the console.

Before she could do anything, the ship came to a grinding halt. However somehow the internal dampners had also not been functioning correctly. Therefore everyone on the bridge, Yui included, ended up being thrown towards the viewscreen.

Sam had just walked onto the bridge when the dampeners failed. She lost her balance and fell hard onto the deck. She took a moment to make sure nothing was broken, then sat up and looked around.

Mara followed the Commodore out the conference room and to the bridge, and just as Sam did Mara fell down when the dampeners failed.

Yui looked up rubbing her head. "Well..." she said "It seems that we've stopped"

"A good thing, under the circumstances," Sam said wryly. "Is everyone okay?"

Mara looked over to Sam, nodding. "I'm good." She said pushing herself off the ground. As she stood up, she extended her hand out to Sam to help her up.

"Thank you," Sam said, accepting the hand up.

-Conference Room-

Leroy cracked another glow stick, then hung it on the collar of his uniform. "I'm going to find a way to the fighters, we'll need some sort of defense if anything goes down. Send a runner if you need me Commodore. And permission to do what ever it takes to get the fighters into space."

"Permission granted. Right now, your fighters are the only ones with eyes and ears," Sam called from the bridge. "At least combadges should still work."

"My comm badges Vill Vork." Munich said with some pride. "Dey are independant of the Communications array and Data exchange network." His German accent was growing. Moving to a small section of the wall he opened an access panel and withdrew several eletric torches from the emergency stores and lit a couple to test. "At least the simple tings are vorking." He grabbed a couple.

Drani exited the conference room with Arnon close behind.

Walking back in just as Drani and Arnon left, Cam turned to Sam, "as usual, the marine deck is secure and locked down, I have sent two of my units to help secure the fighter bays as that will be a rather vulnerable point with the power out" he reported, realising that this was generally how his reports to the CO went during a crisis situation, "now that's out of the way, I've got a question. Doesn't the saucer section have its own power source independent from the drive section?"

"Yes and no," Sam replied. "Right now, we don't have any power..." She paused for a moment. "Except for the steam engine."

"Shining his torch around to inspect the area just in case, Munich was not going to have an easy time of this. "Dat beats deploying solar sail." He commented. "I am going to have the Turbo Lifts checks to see if anyone is caught in dem." He suggested as he was making his way towards the door.

"Good idea," Sam said. "And Hans, get someone to connect the steam train to life support."

"I will go down dere my self, it is goot to hav breathable air." Munich said glad that he has the flashlight to guide him as he went out the door.
