Mission: Point of View
Location: Conference Room

ON

Their week at the starbase was over and it was now time to get back out in space again. Sam was happy to be back "home," but she had enjoyed spending several days camping on a holodeck with Damon. She made sure there was a freshwater lake and a cave to sleep in, for old times' sake. She always enjoyed spending time with her husband, but after the break, they were both ready to get back to work.

Sam set out the usual spread of breakfast pastries, muffins, and scones, with a variety of drinks for everyone to enjoy during the briefing and waited for her senior staff to arrive.

Drani entered and smiled at Sam. "Good morning," she greeted as she grabbed a apple from the table.

Arnon walked into the room with a spring in his step.

"Good morning, Commodore!," he said. "And good morning to you, Doctor Drani."

"Good morning, Mr. Barak," Sam said.

He smiled at Victoria and almost imperceptibly winked at her, then got himself a cup of tea and took a morning glory muffin from the table, because he felt positively glorious this morning.

"Good morning, Doctor Barak," she gretted in return with a smile as she took her seat.

Leroy poked his head in, covered in mud and some foliage. "Commodore do I have time to change and shower or is this semi important?" He asked, smiling. When he stepped into the doorway he was covered in his combat fatigues, and not a small amount of mud. "We were running survivial drills if one of us got shot down, and it was my turn."

"You have time," Sam replied. "I'll give you fifteen minutes."

Mara came down the corner. There was a nice mud trail leading all the way down the corridor and into the Conference Room. She opened the door and on the door side of the door, a man stood in combat fatigues covered in mud. She moved around him trying to get an image of his face. It was Leroy. She smiled at him with a puzzled look on her face. "I like the look." She said with a wink then turned to everyone else. "Good morning." She said making her way to the table.

Winking at Mara, Leroy took off, sprinting down the halls to get to at least the Marine Washrooms. Skidding, actually skidding around a corner he winced at the clean up job that was going to have to happen because of him. Fifteen minutes and forty five seconds later, he came sliding back in, only slightly out of breath, but in a better looking uniform and his hair still sort of damp. As he slowed his breathing, he took a sip from the canteen at his side. "Thank you Ma'am."

"You're welcome," Sam replied, trying not to smile. "Glad you could make it."

Munich came off the bridge as he had waited until the last possible moment, the ship was still his to watch over while York was not on the bridge. Maybe he was also trying to worm himself from feeling responsible for the ship as a whole. HE came into the Conference Room and quickly found a strong COffee and a danish before taking his seat.

Yui wandered in, grabbed a croissant and then sat down munching it happily. She liked being fed.

She glanced around the room and nodded. "Now that we're all here, let's begin."

The lights in the room dimmed and the holographic image of a planet appeared over the table. "This is Jenefra. The daughter of the Jenefran leader contacted Starfleet and asked for a representative to help investigate some recent problems with a primitive cat-like species on the planet. For centuries, the two cultures have lived in peace, but recently there have been a number of assaults on the Jenefran city and her father is considering war. She thinks there may be someone on the council who is stirring up the trouble and has asked us to help. Her father is unaware of this request, so we need to be careful how we handle the situation."

"Anyone think of bringing a Caitien with them?" Leroy asked looking at the hologram. "Are they a member of the Federation or one of the protectorates?"

Munich was curious how they would explain being in the area and happening onto the planet for some official visit and NOT seem like they are bardging into the situation? He also believed York had a plan and Munich had high hopes it would work.

"Neither," Sam said. "They are a planet of interest to the Federation. The Jenefrans are not sure they wish to join the Federation as yet, but this trip could open the door for official talks."

"What is the Federation's interest in this planet?" Victoria knew well enough that the Federation didn't consider a planet for membership unless it offered a tactical advantage, resources, or politically motivated by someone on the council.

"With the current tensions between the Klingons, Starfleet and the Romulans, and the losses from the Borg and the Dominion, the Federation is looking into as many new planets as they can" Cam said from his standing position just inside the doors, having slipped into the room a few moments after Sam started the briefing, "how long have they had Warp Drive for?"

"Less than a year," Sam replied. "They're still mostly planet-bound."

Suddenly all the lights went out, plunging the conference room into darkness.

"Computer, lights!" Sam said. Nothing happened. "Computer, why are there no lights?"

"You will need to ask Alice," the computer replied.

"And who exactly is Alice?" Cam asked as he pulled out a small glow stick from a pocket on his leg and cracked it. After giving it a shake, a dull green light filled the room.

Leroy did the same, tossing two more cracked glow sticks onto the table at varying distances. "Or what is Alice," he grumbled. Picking up a padd, he shook his head and tossed it down. "Padds are out. Computer, where is Alice?"

"She followed the White Rabbit," the computer replied. "I am unable to scan beyond the Looking Glass."
