Mission: Of Gods and Men

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

"Six by Eight? Or four by tens?" Leroy asked with a smile. "That's nothing compared to the desolate but easily livable fourth planet where you'll spend days sleeping in or under your wing before being spotted by Romulans." Shrugging he chuckled. "The vacation pay is something to be desired though."

[NEW]

"Oh that sounds really nice." Illise teased. "The palace cell were ten by fifteen actually." Illise returned. "With high stuffed beds and room service. It really was comfy. But the no windows, no latch on the inside of the door, and armed guards gave it away though."

Leroy started laughing at that, then sobered quickly. "I'm just glad everyone made it home this time. Please excuse me Lieutenant," he said spotting a nurse waving him in for his physical. Stepping over quickly, he stepped into the room, sure that he was going to get yelled at for turning off his gravity while running his patrols.

Drani listened to the two talks and rolled her eyes and couldn't help but chuckle at Leroy.

Newmark was coming in for his duty shift; Nahallia had been a little needy, the pregnancy was putting her in an unusual mood. His soft caresses and penetrating massage had done the trick but even he was looking forward to the baby being born. As much as he loved his wife it was good for both of them to have him working a shift or two to relieve the tensions.

He had a few patients to see to so things were okay for the first time since the Calypso was thrown like some disk away from the planet.

Victoria watched Dr. Newman enter and smiled at him. "It's good to see you. How is your wife doing?"

Swollen but taking it as any woman would, I fine my fingers literally working her knots to the bone, but the baby and mother are dong well."

Victoria nodded. "That's good to hear. You'll be a great father."

"I hope to prove you right." Newmark said n good huor.

[Marine Country]

Kara went to her quarters first to shower and change. She missed her shower, and she wanted to wash off her grease paint. Then, she would see what Cam needed her to do next.

Standing in the bedroom of their shared quarters, Cam was taking off his camouflage uniform in exchange for his standard duty uniform. As he took of his jacket, a small star shaped pendant on a thin golden chain fell out of it and landed at his feet. Picking get it up, he immediately recognized it as a necklace belonging to his old spotter. He couldn't believe he still had this. Clamping it in his hand for a moment, Cam put it on his bed side table and finished getting changed.

"What was that?" Kara asked, walking into the bedroom in time to see Cam put something on his nightstand.

"Old memories of a good friend" Cam said, picking it up again and turning to show Kara, "this belonged to my last gir.......my spotter when I was a sniper on DS4. Usually this sort of thing would be returned to her next of kin, but she didn't have anyone they could send it to" he explained with a warm smile, "well, anyone besides me"

Kara put her arms around Cam and hugged him. She didn't miss his slip. "And you carry it with you?"

Cam gradually nodded, "usually, yea. I carry it around as a reminder of the oath I took. I swore to her two things, before she died, I said I wouldn't let her memory hold me back from finding someone else. And after she died in my arms, I swore on my honour and my blood that I would never allow someone to die for or because of me again"

"I'm glad you didn't give up on finding someone else," she said. "Because I am very glad you came into my life." She gave him a tender kiss before continuing. "As for the other, all you can do is your best. You can't guarantee that no one will die on your watch."

Cam smiled, "is it odd that I knew that you would say something like that?"

Kara chuckled. "It's good as long as I don't get boring."

[Counseling Section.]

The clicking of heels preceded the Orion who came strolling through the doors with the measured strides of a model on a catwalk; just as her heritage allowed and her training taught her as second nature. The Uniform was tailored and press by ESHa for the best presentation; her ear rings were dangling silver and a necklace that matched outside her uniform for color. She had a little more sway in her steps as she felt lighter on her feet this day.

The smile on her face as she had men looking at her; their auras were obvious to her but nothing to the degree of an Orion female 'the Easy one' for everyone knew Orion females were willing in the male mind. Being more like a Greek heritage in her appearance Spartacus kept the smile as for once she was being leered at for her figure and uniform and not just the color of her skin.

"Top of the Morning to you." She said in passing to Arnon wile heading to her small office to ready for the first appointment of the day.

This was going to be a fun day.

"Good morning Miss Spartacus," Arnon replied. He was carrying Mongo the life size stuffed gorilla. "Do you have our gorillaphobia patient today or is it my turn?"

"I believe it is your turn." Spartacus remarked. "I would never be able to 'man-handle' it into my office for the session.

"Excellent!" Arnon said. "I'll set Mongo up in my office right now."

"I am sure the three of you will have a nice session." Spartacus replied and head for her office to plan the two days she would be taking off at the station and noting how close she was cutting her safety margin.

[Engineering]

Chris sighed as he wiped the dirt from his hands. How anyone kept their hands clean, he never knew, but looking at the readings, he nodded in satisfaction. "Good. Now let's get to work with the EPS Converters." He ordered. He made his way over to the control panel, showing the list of tasks, and marked another as done.

Grabbing his toolkit, he headed straight out of engineering and to the main impulse control section. It didn't take him long to get there, but as soon as he did, he saw Elley waiting for him. "Good, we could use your help." Elley said. He raised an eyebrow, and smirked as she added "Sir." to her statement.

"Let's see what we have." Chris said, as he looked at the damage. He then tapped his comm. badge. "Hartley to bridge."

"Bridge here," Sam said.

"We've managed to repair the primary driver coiler, but we need to focus on the secondary impulse fusion reactors as well. However, we'll have the impulse engines back to full within three hours. Beyond that, we'll need to give the warp core a manual inspection, and replace the EPS conduits in the primary phaser array. But we should be back to acceptable standards by the end of the day." Chris explained.

"Excellent," Sam said. "Just give us enough power to get to the nearest Starbase. We can effect repairs and pick up supplies there."
