Mission:
Point of View
Location: Holodeck 2
ON
After the encounter with Frenatus and their subsequent week of shore leave, Sam wanted to throw a party for her senior staff and those who were actively involved in the last adventure. It wasn't that she didn't think all her crew deserved a party, but that with as large a crew as she had on the Calypso, such a venture would be impossible. She did encourage departmental activities. From what she'd been told, the COB had something planned for the enlisted crew that would take place over two days to allow for shift rotations. The officers, also, had their party scheduled.
For this event, Sam chose a formal ball with everyone coming dressed as their favorite historic figure. Along with dancing there were several historic games to entertain those who didn't want to dance to the string ensemble.
Invitations were sent out and the holodeck was prepared to look like a medieval castle and the tables were laden with food.
Leroy was the first to enter behind the Commodore, dressed in the regalia of a prince. Smiling he spotted the only other person there, then walked up. On his hip was a historic Templar broadsword with the pommel holding the digit of house Tepesh. "Evening Ma'am. Sorry, couldn't decide between Audey Murphy, the Red Baron or Vlad Tepesh, so I went with old Dracula."
"Very nice," Sam said, grinning at Leroy. "He was quite the hero to his people," she said. "Always good to make people re-evaluate what they know about history -- or think they do." She was dressed as writer and archaeologist Gertrude Bell, which fit in with her own love of archaeology.
Mara was a history buff and when she heard of the ball being put on by Commodore York she couldn’t help but feel very excited. She grew up on Earth, and over many centuries of Earth history there have been number of influential women. She wanted to dress up as many of them but there was always that one that was her favorite.
She stepped off the turbolift and headed down the corridor. She noticed the eyes of everyone as she passed them on her way to the turbolift. They couldn’t help but look at her, and her outfit. She felt confident and didn’t mind the wondering eyes. As she approached the holodeck doors they opened, and she stepped inside dressed up as an Egyptian Pharaoh, Cleopatra. She outfit might not have been the most accurate one as it revealed a significant amount of skin. Her makeup was on point though.
As she was one of the first ones to arrive she noticed Commodore York with another person standing with her. She also noticed the inside of the holodeck. It was medieval like. She started to feel as if her outfit was not the most appropriate one. She thought about leaving to go change but it would be rude not to at least say hello first. She wondered over to the Commodore and the other person standing with her. She greeted them both. “Hello…”
Leroy turned at the Hello and smiled. "Cleopatra, nicely done," he said bowing a little. "Not a bad choice at all."
She smiled feeling better about her choice now. "But I only play Cleopatra sometimes." She winked. "I'm Lt. Cross. Mara Cross. New Chief Operations Officer." She introduced herself as she extended her hand.
"Leroy Mangalia, Fighter pilot," Leroy said shaking her hand. "It's still not a bad choice regardless, I almost admire it." As more people started to come in, Leroy looked for Yui, but not too hard. "Did you have a good trip here?"
"It's a pleasure to meet you." She said before looking around a little bit herself. She noticed a few more people step in. "There were a couple of hick ups but mostly it was good. I am glad to be here and finally settled in somewhat. It will be nice to call one place home for more then a few days."
"That's always a good thing. But home is always around, the vastness of space is my home," he laughed a little. "But then again home is always where we find it."
Sam was pleased that Mara was meeting the crew, so she simply nodded to the two and moved on to greet another newcomer.
Mara smiled. "When you've called as many places home as I have its nice to be in one place for a little longer then a few days." She looked over noticing that Dr. Drani was at the holodeck doors. She looked back to Leroy. "If you would excuse me for a little bit. I've got to say hi to a friend."
Drani entered the room, dressed in a sleeveless gold-colored stolla made out of silk with a leather strap just under her breasts for support, indicative of ancient roman clothing on Earth. She had decided to come dressed as the Aphrodite. She wore fancy ancient Roman jewelry of the time. She looked around at the few who had gathered already before making her way over to the bar.
Mara walked over to the bar. She leaned against the bar next to Dr. Drani. "Good evening..." She paused for a moment looking over the outfit that she had chosen. "Aphrodite." She smiled.
Arnon walked in dressed in black cowboy boots, black 19th century pants, a red embroidered vest, a white shirt and black string tie, and a black 19th century frock coat. He had a black cowboy hat on. He had a western gun belt on with a mock Colt Peacemaker in the holster on his right side.
"Hello, ladies," he said. He leaned in and kissed Victoria on the cheek. "You look lovely, my dear."
Drani smiled at Mara and nodded as Arnon kissed her on the cheek. "That's right. How are you?"
"I'm doing well." She replied as she observed Arnon and Victoria interact. She smiled at the two of them. "Good evening." She replied to the hello. She didn't want to disturb the two any further so she turned to the bartender to get a drink.
