Mission:
Of Gods and Men
Location: Calypso
ON
Munich sat in the Executive Officer's chair on the bridge, he was left in command for the moment while the Away Team is on the surface. HE had ordered a maintaining of the standard orbit above the Transport Area. Looking about the crew were doing their usually fine job of maintaining the systems.
The Calypso is not the Flag Ship for no reason; her crew had earned the right to he here and they are proving their assignments were for good reason. He could almost sit back in the chair; he would rather have been in the Commnications Console chair but after the time serving as the second in command the chair he resided in was becoming more adjusted to his comfort; he did not want to think he was comfortable but it was more to his comfort.
The automatics sounded an alarm; the sensors reacted to an abnormality from the surface to alert the crew of possible danger.
Kela heard the alarm and brought up the sensor readings from the abnormality on her console. She noticed the strength, speed, and velocity and raised a brow. "Are you serious?" She said as she switched the display of one that showed its potential destination. "Unidentified Projectile coming at us from the planet, Sir! Raising shields and going to red alert!"
Maria did her best to figure out what the beam was, but the computer had nothing like it on file.
Seeing the projection on the screen Munich hit the ship wide Red Alert klaxon. "Red Alert! All Hands Brace for impact!" Munich announced over the ship wide intercom.
Yui's fingers tickled the helm console as she saw the object on her sensors.
"I can attempt a dodge with the RCS thrusters?" she asked quickly. "Just tell me when!". She had already got the RCS controls ready and with a couple of taps she could roll the ship port, or starboard out of the path of the object. It would mean over-exerting the inertial dampeners, but she could do it.
"Starboard, now vould be nice!" Munich ordered
Yui's fingers danced quickly over the console. The planet on the viewscreen started to disappear towards the bottom corner of the screen as Yui began to roll the Calypso.
"I'm breaking Orbit" she said as the ship began to turn away. A Galaxy Class starship was still a massive ship to move, it would take a little while. "Thats as much as I can give you" Yui reported.
MAIN SICKBAY
Drani heard the klaxons followed by the warning to brace for impact. We're they under attack? She grabbed a hold of the biobed in front of her as she waited for what seemed an eternity for the jolt of the coming impact.
Newmark grabbed the Biobed nearest him more out of a well trained reflex that came from his past; combat tended to teach one to be ready for any attack even when not aware of his actions. He had hold in way that gave him the best chance to remain stationary if the ship's axis went haywire; he expected he had fet worst ;but then life did tend to show him otherwise upon occasion.
Softtouch could sne a spie in the stress with the Klaxons. The table nearest him was sturdy and all but welded to the deck; diving under it to gain purchase on the leg seemed a wise thing to do as there might be things falling should the hip take severe damage and he was not 'that' accustomed to combat. He just hoped he remained uninjured enough to help others after this?
Helga was in the back, inventorying supplies. She went quickly to the doorway and braced herself. Then she had another thought. In a moment she replicated an old-fashioned flight attendant harness and set it up. Then she strapped herself in and held on.
The klaxons automatically activated Galen in the sickbay, to a flurry of activity as the others braced for impact. Having appeared near a patient, she quickly strapped him down and them leaned over him to be sure his would not be jarred overly much.
[Bridge]
Maria continued to scan the incoming beam. "Power reading is incredible, sir. It's part plasma, part electricity and part pure energy."
The beam struck the Calypso and engulfed her in a brilliant sphere of light that continued through space ; once the Star Ship hit the rear of the sphere the Calypso became a part of the sphere's interior as it moved so did the Galaxy Class Vessel.
The Planet fell away almost instantly while accelorating out of the system, the shrill of the energy expended grew in tone all around the ship like a thrum of engines being pushed past expected parameters. Pushing the ship in what seemed a random direction. The screen showed light bright as a sun in close proximity, blinding any who dare try and look out of it. The extreme acceloration had exceed the tolernces of the Dampeners and forced anyone standing to the ground, like dropping weights all over their bodies as power spikes lashed through the grid, dimming lights and throwing breakers along the way. Consoles spews small sparks as the energy filtered through the defenses and outer hull not unlike lightning strikes from a thunder storm to the hull.
The brilliance of the sphere shone in every open portal evenly, from a far the sight might resemble a torpedo streaking to a target. Inside all the crew could do is wait out the ride as the ship shuttered and shook , a slight lateral spin to her axis while the sphere is in motion. The brightness of the light was dimming with each second slightly, the motions and moments passing as the crew felt the force and held to anything not to be thrown about.
The Brilliance was beginning to dim quickly like a person turning down a dial; the force upon teh crew dwindled in direct proportion to the dimming light. No sensory information could be gained from the sphere surrounding other than teh rate of energy expenditure, the dampeners began to compensate as the light dimmed to a sunny day through a window then to light flitered through curtains and finally closer to dusk. The Gravitational forces did not play so hard and breathing was easier and the spin was slowing as well.
