Personality & Traits
General Overview | Those of Minaran Colony are mutes, having no vocal cords, they speak amongst themselves telepathically. Being a true Empath he tends to feel the emotions around him; in some ways more so than a Betazoid. His nature is passive and he tends to be more of an observer as he cannot interact with others in the same context. His facial expressions and mannerisms are extremely expressive as a method of communications as well as the text type communications. The racial empathy is monumental, the feedback from those encounters make them a less social race as a general rule. Like Vulcans avoiding physical contact to protect themselves from an overload of their ability so those of Minara Colony tend to keep others at a distance until they are socially comfortable with those individuals. Jemnar continued on Earth after a delegation returned, he was drawn to the Medical field and was able to attend the Academy, graduating a nurse. While his bedside manner on duty excels he tends to keep people at a distance as the emotional exchange of touch jolts his nervous system and he only allows a small portion of the crew individually into his ‘comfort Zone. If treated like a Vulcan with touch he is more comfortable and his dependence upon the not widely used Federation Sign Language does make him slightly more reclusive off duty. He is not a Social outcast but he is careful about his relationships with people. |

Personal History | Gem’s Planet; the Star Fleet classiacation given to the “colony’ that was at last discovered by a scout ship after over one hundred years since the discovery of an Empath named ‘Gem’ by the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Enterprise had named the female. The Minarian sun went Super Nova and destroyed all the planets in the system, there was a race of beings that admit to having the power to save one of the Planet’s population from the calamity. Because the population had been ‘touched’ by an alien race the Prime Directive was not in effect and the first contact with the race was established. The leadership of the planet welcomed the Federation Representatives. The leaders recounted the story of their salvation and the one woman who became the revered woman that the aliens had brought as their savior. Gem was welcomed back and revered as the one who saved them and in the coming years the stories grew and were exaggerated with the telling. After Gem’s death of old age the race kept vigil waiting for the ‘beings’ to come again. Thus the arrival of the Federation Star ship was like a blessed event. The Federation brought people to Gem’s planet and it was brought into the Federation quietly so it could be protected. An entire planet of empaths who can psycicly heal would make the planet a commodity so they were categorized as ‘Strict Empaths’ and with no physical Vocal Cords were thought by the masses to be mind readers and a certain stigma given to them. Jamner was among the delegation that came to the Federation while establishing a Embassy. When a majority of his fellow people returned as they wanted to remain ‘secluded’ he was offered entrance into the academy and under the medical department. |
