Mission: Deadly Diplomacy
Location: Various

ON

Sam paced her Ready Room while she waited for word that the two delegations had successfully beamed back to their respective planets. Even though the treaty was signed, there was still the matter of the murders of the delegates, the murder of Vance, the arrival of the Cardassian Ambassador and the framing of Lieutenant Wolfe. She had no doubt her crew would get to the bottom of all these, but her assignment was to negotiate a peace treaty between the two warring factions.

"Commodore, the delegations have returned to their respective planets," the transporter chief reported.

Sam sighed in relief. "Excellent. Thank you. York out."

She had no sooner sat down in her chair than the red alert sounded.

She got up and walked quickly onto the bridge. "Report!"

"Weapons fire, ma'am. Direct hit on a military silo on the planet."

"From where?" Sam asked.

"From the direction of the fire, it appears to have come from us."

"Security, did we fire on the planet?"

(Nope, but the ship that did had to be right on top of us)

"Ma'am, early indications show it was not us who fired." Thaddius replied.

"Sir, My console does not indicate any power allocated to the weapons systems." Brown called out.

Sam turned to Austin. "Good. Work with tactical and find out where it came from."

Stepping onto the bridge from one of the aft turbolifts, Cam quickly walked over to stand beside tactical, "what's going on?"

"A phaser hit a weapons silo on the Octurian homeworld," Sam told him. "It didn't come from us, but it sure looks like it from anyone not on this ship."

"What are your orders captain? I can have teams ready for deployment in minutes"

"I want you on standby, Captain. I need proof we didn't do it. Barring that, I may need your help keeping this from blowing up in our faces," Sam said.

"Commodore! Sensors indicate a large saturation of tachyons located around the dorsal portion of the saucer section. It's similar to a trail left by a traditional cloaking device." Thaddius stated.

Damon moved over to Samantha. "Perhaps we should launch our alert fighters. If we can't see who is firing perhaps they can."

Sam nodded and gave Damon a smile of appreciation.

"Launch fighters. Get a tractor onto that ship and hold it. If you can't hold it, shoot it until the cloak fails and then tractor it," Sam ordered. She wasn't going to let that ship disappear again.

#Fighter Bay#

The sound of the launch alarm woke Leroy from his catnap, and he was in the middle of launching before he even knew what he was supposed to do. Just reacting on instinct, he flew under the ship as he came out of the bay, always worried about an attack. -^-Cap, permission to fire on any target we deem or do you have something in mind?-^-

[Bridge]

"I want them alive," Sam ordered. "Aim for engines and weapons first."

She turned to Operations. "Be ready to lock on to everyone on that cloaked ship as soon as you can, just in case."

[Sickbay]

Frost headed back towards Sickbay when the Red Alert klaxon's had sounded she picked up her pace and briskly entered Sickbay and called out. "What's going on?"

The Red Alert automatically activated the EMH protocols. Galen came online to alarms and flashing red klaxons. Although this was her first true emergency situation, she was well prepared for it (after all, this was what she was made for) and when Doctor Frost entered she was already prepping for possible casualties. Galen consulted her link to the main computer for a ship's status. "Weapons have been fired on the planet, Doctor. We have launched fighters. Specifics of their orders are not available. However sensors suggest that there is a cloaked ship in our vicinity." She told Frost, wincing inwardly at how much she had sounded like a computer just then.

Helga overheard the conversation and shook her head. "Did we fire or was it the cloaked ship?" she asked.

Galen finished placing instruments on the table in front of her. "It was the other ship." she responded, looking up. "Do you think we will be asked to help with relief on the ground?"

Arnon entered Sickbay.

"I'm a physician with decades of emergent care experience," he said. "How can I help?"

Helga handed him a smock. "If we get any wounded from the planet, we'll need all the help we can get."

[Science Department]

Ensign Hale called up the sensor data of the weapons fire on her console, the alert ringing all too familiar in her ears. She was looking for specific energy signatures, wave patterns, or particle traces, anything that could help identify the type of ship responsible for the attack. It had fired while cloaked, and even with the recent advancements in cloaking technology, few vessels had the power capacity to do both. Doing so would have created a distortion in it's cloaking field, a tiny window of opportunity that could be exploited. Illise poured over the data, looking for that vital clue.

Lieutenant Andrews ran into the Science Department and 'plugged' in at her station and turned to Ensign Hale. "What've we got?"

[Fighters]

Leroy sighed and started scanning for anything that could 've been a ship. -^-All fighters, be on the look out. Does anyone know where the fire came from?-^-

"Right off the dorsal," Phoenix said. "Set sensors for tachyon particles."

She followed Leroy as they arced around the ship. Just as they got into range, there was the briefest glimpse of a small ship and then a burst of phaser fire.
