Mission: Deadly Diplomacy

A minute later, Admirals Burke and Blackcat walked into the room. Someone in the back called, "Admiral on deck!"
"At ease," Burke said immediately. "Don't stand on formality on our account."
She took a seat at the back by Max and tried not to be too conspicuous.
Sam nodded to her and began. "First order of business, Ensign Kela Sirel, until such time as we receive a new Chief of Security, you will be acting in that position."
Kela sat there, a look of surprise on her face. She took a moment to look around before focusing back on Captain York. "Umm... Okay. Thank you, I guess." Although she was nervous, Kela couldn't help but smile a bit.
Sam smiled and then quickly suppressed it. "You'll be fine," she assured the other woman.
"We will also be receiving a new Chief Intelligence Officer in the next day or two."
Max nodded as he looked around the room. "Due to the current situation involving your last CIO, Lieutenant Damion Wolfe, we feel that the position shouldn't be unoccupied. As much fun as I have had stepping in as Acting Chief of Intelligence, I still have my own duties to perform. Officers to direct. As a result, I have called in a team. Lieutenant Rembrandt Batiste has worked recon and special operations for quite some time. Their current job is close by and I have requested they be transfered to the Calypso. They are an interesting bunch. I would ask you overlook his shortcomings and treat him and his team with respect. Their shuttle, The Horus, is a modified Delta Flyer. Sort of their pet project that has come in handy. Captain York, you have my permission to utilize it, as long as one of the team is with you at all times. It's still a prototype and it still has its own secrets to keep."
Sam nodded. "I look forward to their arrival. Now, for two more items of business. First, Lieutenant Cameron Bourne has been promoted to the rank of Captain. Congratulations, Cam." She smiled at the Marine, then turned to Roberta. "And Lieutenant Roberta Andrews has been promoted to Chief Science Officer and given the rank of Lieutenant. Congratulations."
Roberta looked over at Cam. "Congratulations, 'Captain.' " She said with a smile. "And thank you, Commodore York."
Cam nodded, "thank you LT. Same to you"
Sam nodded in response to Roberta. Then she continued. "For the present, Lieutenant Munich will be Acting Executive Officer." She hoped to have Vance back in her position before they launched, but even though she had plenty of information to clear Alexandra of the charges, there was no guarantee she'd be cleared. Although, having Admirals Burke, Hunter and Panthera on board gave her a great deal of confidence that everything would go well.
Munich had to contain himself as he did not like the idea of having to be even second in command; he had done what he thought was a not the best job undr combat conditions. He remained quiet and gave the courticy bow of acknowledgement.
Sam stifled a smile and continued. "Now that business is out of the way, we've received orders to head to the Octurius System," Sam began.
"For centuries, Octurius Prime and Paneria Seven have been at war. A week ago, delegates from the two governments contacted the Federation. They not only wish to stop the fighting, they also want to talk to the Federation about possibly becoming members. To that end, they have asked that a starship be sent to help broker a treaty that will meet the needs of both factions. As flagship of Theta Fleet, we have been tasked to host the peace talks aboard the Calypso. We depart in 48 hours."
Ignatz winced inside for a second, first mission aboard and he was going to be in the spotlight, it was almost comical, being in the wrong place at the right time getting him imprisoned there, and now being in the right place at the wrong time was going to put him in the middle of a three way parley... If one of the Admirals didn't claim the spot for themselves. he wouldn't be getting much sleep between now and the meeting. There was a lot of reading ahead of him.
Sam couldn't help picking up a little of what Ignatz was thinking. "Lieutenant Jones and Ensign Spartacus, you will work directly with the two factions. I'll be there as the Starfleet representative, but I'm looking to the two of you to ensure that this goes smoothly."
The auras of certain people were beginnng to swirl in some neo style colors, the new Acting Executive Officer was slightly more of a dark neon color that was more reminicent of surprise than anything. If Spartacus had a chance she would make a roundabout way to 'bump' into Munich sometime soon.
What Ignatz was feeling affected his aura, the fact she would be working with him was a boon; she had a good impression of him thus far and being on the same team meant she would have someone she could let her guard down with; Ignatz had an aura that swirled in pretty colors; a sirt of regal strain of colors all mingling together to give a very unique impression upon her.
Her eyes met Ignatz and she had a small smile and a wink of assurance to him.
Lieutenant Andrews raised her hand. "Will any of the delegates of the two parties be beaming aboard, and if so, what type of atmospheric measures would we have to implement for their accomodations?"
"Both will be beamed aboard," Sam replied. "Both are from M-class planets, so there should be no problems in that regard."
"Now to why we have visitors," Sam continued. "Our guests are here as part of a Court Martial proceeding." Sam still wasn't pleased about this. "If you are asked to participate, please remain on board. The rest of you are free to arrange shore leave rotations. Admiral Burke will contact you if you need to stay. So, if there are no questions, you're dismissed."
Ignatz rose, since there was no coverage for Chaplin, he wasn't really restricted, and one of the aides aboard could relay any emergencies. He just needed to split up the department over the next 2 days, make that 2 and 1/2. He remembered how badly some people were at getting back on time. Given the extra 12 hours he could guarantee that there was plenty of time to have station security haul them in. He wasn't going to pull rank and take the first 9 hours out, nor was he altruistic enough to take the last. He needed things, admittedly comfort items, but the beta group would do.
"Is it really that bad?" Spartacus tried not to chuckle. "Your Aura is way too serious; we are not being put out for the target practice for some time yet." She playfully nudged him. "We should have some time to get together and compare what we can find out about them before we get there." SPartacus suggested as she walked with Ignatz. "I can pull the research notes as the line for Counseiling appointments is not all that long." SHe winked. "SO what time do I put you down for your duty eval Lt Jones... officially I mean."
Eamon entered, tired and still holding a few tools as if he left his what he was doing at a moments notice. He growled absently. "Sorry I'm late, there is much to do and not a lot of time to do it in." The Inaran said as he suddenly realised he was holding some of his tools and blushed a darker brown.
Sam handed him a PADD. "Welcome. Here's what you missed. We leave in 48 hours." She hoped Eamon could have his work done by then -- and that he'd have time to sleep.
As the others stood, Sam turned to the three guests. "Admirals Burke, Hunter and Panthera, I'd like to have a word with you about the trial."
