Gaia stood patiently outside Commodore York's ready room a basket in hand. A variety of fruits, pastries and other sweets were in her hand.
Sam was looking over her bookshelf, trying to find a particular volume. When she heard the door chime she turned. "Come in," she said.
Gaia paused for a moment to collect herself and then entered. "Captain York, might I have a moment?" She placed the basket on the woman's desk and stepped back and waited.
"Of course." Sam said, walking over to her desk. "Would you care to have a seat?" She glanced from the basket to Gaia, curiously.
Gaia smiled the woman was like a curious child. "Please, partake a few sweets for a pleasant person." the blond replied as she ran her hand behind her leg to tuck her skirt close as she sat on the offered seat. " I thought that you and your spouse or even Alexandria might enjoy the hand made specialties."
Sam looked in the basket and smiled. "Indeed we will. Damon will be delighted. Thank you."
She closed the basket and sat down. "How are you and your sister doing?"
Gaia had wanted to ask the woman that very question but the Captain was very astute and had beat her to the punch. "We are both well but..." Gaia drew in a quiet breath before she continued "We've both had a long conversation and believe that it would be best for Bazinga's to well move on away from here."
Sam nodded. "Actually, I was expecting this. It was a good thing to try, but life on a explorer is seldom predictable. This is not to say that I haven't appreciated your efforts. I like Bazingas quite a lot, but I also understand your desire to locate somewhere more ... stable." She considered the other woman for a moment. "When do you plan on shutting down?"
"Actually it isn't about the 'stability' of the ship. Its quite stable and patronage is, was delightful, this is..." Gaia paused in thought for a moment, she knew she could not hide her feelings, nor her thoughts really, from this woman nor did she want to. Gaia liked this Captain and most of the personnel but the shipped lacked something that she could not put her finger on. So, how could she tell the woman that Maia couldn't handle the constant disappearance of people especially after what had happened on the Ares and the poor Captain there that never returned and now, Korok disappeared again to return. Her twin was a nervous wreck. Gaia wondered how if ever she could she tell this woman, whom she actually quite liked that... Gaia paused in her thought and decided she didn't have the right words so she tried another approach. Her hands started to move as she spoke, gentle gesticulations. "Bazinga's needs to fit the local that its in, and the right person in the right place and neither I," Gaia touched her chest with the flat of her palm as she continued "nor my sister are the right personnel for this particular location." Gaia gestured to the ship as a whole. "Korok on the other hand may be the right person for the location but I do not wish to speak for him. Other then that, shut down has been initiated and all our proprietary things have been already moved." Gaia replied.
Sam nodded again, accepting and understanding the explanation. "All right. You will be missed and I wish you both the best of luck. Are you taking a shuttle or do you want us to drop you off at the next opportunity?"
"Arrangements have been made, Captain." Gaia replied her tone as quiet as her demeanor.
Sam nodded. "I appreciate the time you've spent on the ship," she reiterated. "Is there anything you need from me at this point?"
"No, Captain. Although I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor's." Gaia replied with a smile
"Thank you," Sam replied. "And I wish you and your sister all the best as well." There really wasn't a lot to be said at this point. Sam liked the woman, and what little she'd seen of her sister, but understood all too well that a Federation starship wasn't always the best place to settle down or to start a business. "Let me know if there's anything you need," she said. "And please let Commander Vance know of your departure as well. I'm sure she'll want to say goodbye as well."
"Right, I will attempt to do that." Gaia said and then stood to leave.
