Mission:
Tabula Rasa
Location: Planetside
ON
It was night and Borac couldn't sleep. He didn't know if he always had trouble sleeping, but for the past few nights he'd been awake a lot. It wasn't until dawn that he finally fell asleep for a few hours.
He decided the best thing he could do was sit outside and keep an eye on the compound. Not that they'd found anything. It had been a week and so far they'd seen no one else. There weren't even hostile predators on the planet. Unless you counted the bull that chased them for nearly two kilometers.
As he sat looking up at the night sky he heard a strange noise. One that was oddly familiar but he didn't know from where. It was a shimmery sort of sound that grew and then faded into nothing.
As it came from the edge of the compound, Borac went to investigate.
The fire in the pit had burned low but, combined with the bright stars, it gave Borac enough light to see two dozen new people laying unconscious on the ground.
He went over to one of them and shook him gently. "Hello, welcome!" he said, trying to wake the man up.
The stranger slowly opened his eyes. "Who are you?"
"I am Borac." He lifted the man's wrist. "You are Stral."
Stral sat up and grabbed Borac by the throat. "I don't like you," he hissed.
"Sorry. I was only trying to help!"
Stral looked around at the others sleeping on the ground. "What happened?"
"I don't know. We woke up a seven day ago."
"How many are you?" Stral asked.
"1500." At least that was the number Borac had heard someone else use the other day.
The other strangers began to stir and Stral let go of Borac's throat. "Thank you. Do you have any food?"
"Sure. Come with me, I'll take you to Gaia's."
Borac led the newcomers to Gaia's mess and walked in.
Gaia raised an eyebrow at the man that walked in. "Let me guess your hungry?" The dark blonde said with a smile.
Borac smiled. "Always. And these people are new. I think they're hungry, too." He indicated the men following behind him who all nodded.
Gaia leaned to the side and glanced behind Borac to look at all the others. "Um, that's quite a few but we will do our best to feed them all." She waved some help over and started to serve food. "Maybe some would like to help serve?" Gaia said
Borac hurried over and began serving the new visitors.
A few others pushed their way forward. "We will help." They then waited to be handed dishes and meals and helped serve food out as well.
The newcomers lined up and took turns being served. Then they found a table and sat down to eat.
They kept to themselves, scanning the room to make sure they knew who came in and who left. When they finished, they took their dishes back to Gaia. "Thank you."
Borac had a bad feeling about the group, but nothing concrete. He watched them file out and then took his dishes back to be washed and headed outside to continue his watch.
