Mission: What Dreams May Come?
ON
Sam had yet to visit Bazinga's. With Damon leaving and all the recent problems, it had slipped down her list. But tonight, since she couldn't sleep, she decided it might just be the distraction she needed to help her get past the nightmares for once.
She walked in and looked around, impressed at the decor.
The lights were dim for this time of the evening. Soft music played in the air, loud cheering and noise could be heard from the back section of the place. It could be heard but not seen. It was blocked by a sheet of flowing water that rotated colors, tonight's colors were blues, aquas, greens and a tint of purple.
Gaia was standing near one of the tables when someone she had yet to meet stepped in. "Excuse me a moment." The couple nodded and she stepped away from them. Gaia normally wore a three quarter length sleeve button down shirt over a form fitting short dress. Tonight was no different. White over Royal Blue. She approached York a bright smile on her face, her voice cheerful and friendly. "Good Evening, table for one or are you interested in the gaming section?"
Sam raised an eyebrow. "No, I think a table for one will be fine. But I would like to know more about your gaming section."
"Would you like a table up to over look the main area for a bit of quiet and we can talk all you would like." Gaia led the Ships Captain to a table "What may I get you to drink, eat?"
"A banana blueberry blend, if you have one," she said, following the woman to a quiet table.
"Certainly, be back in one moment." Gaia left and came back momentarily a banana blueberry blend in a tall glass." She set it down in front of the Captain and sat down across from her. "I'm Gaia and you?" The young woman smiled at her.
"Samantha. Nice to meet you."
"Your the one who commands this vessel?" Gaia inquired
"I am. I'm curious about how you came to bring this restaurant to the Calypso?"
Gaia blinked a few moments as she watched the Captain. "My grandfather, Teji, he is an entrepreneur, he had a vision and put it into place. Each Bazinga's is unique unto themselves. They are located many different places. This seemed like a logical place to have one." Gaia shrugged "One of the smaller ones but still. It needed to occur, tested out if you will, to see how viable of a local this would or could be." The Captain looked tired Gaia noted but she also suspected that most captains looked tired.
Sam nodded. "All was told was that I was getting a new lounge manager and she was opening a restaurant on deck 20." She looked around. "It's a nice place. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the crew takes to it."
"Well, I hope they take to it or I will be out of a job." Gaia replied with a soft smile. "I don't relish going back to where I came from, a planet that has a very deceptive name. As it certainly was not Paradise."
"The Calypso isn't paradise, either, but it has become home," Sam stated. "And we're happy to have you here. So, why the Calypso?"
Gaia shrugged "Why not, she has an adequate name, built upon great music and mystery"
"True. I hadn't thought of Calypso music," Sam said. "I usually think of Jacques Cousteau and his mine sweeper."
"I guess you might as the Captain think about your ship that way. I on the other hand, am in entertainment endeavors and therefore think of things differently and in that light." The dark haired woman wondered how many friends the Captain actually had on her own ship. "So, Captain do you like to dance?"
"Actually, I do. Latin dances, mostly. I've taught my husband a few steps. He's teaching me how to ice skate."
"That's good then your husband and you can come dancing on Friday nights." Gaia replied softly
"I wish we could. Damon is currently at Fleet headquarters." She hadn't gone dancing since he left. She no longer enjoyed dancing if Damon wasn't with er.
Walking into the ships lounge 'Bazinga's', Cam looked around the large room. He'd not long finished running his recon platoon through some exercises and needed to relax. Hearing the roar from the back of the facility, Cam smiled, "at least someone's having fun" he said to himself as he started looking for the bar
A dark skinned man came up "Hello Mon, you look like you need a good bar side view of the dance floor and the gambling"
Cam smiled, "Mate, right now I wouldn't care what the bar looks onto, just so long as I can get a couple of schooners"
Mojo lowered his head and gestured towards the back through the sheet of water. It 'opened' before them and they were hit with sound even louder then before. "There you are mon. Enjoy yourself."
Mojo motioned to the bartender to serve the gent.
"What will you be drinking this fine eve?" A slender dark skinned woman asked politely of Cam.
Cam smiled, "Can I have a schooner of beer, a shot of Vodka, shot of gin, shot of Tequila and a shot of Whiskey" he asked, counting the drinks off using his fingers
The dark haired woman smiled, business was good. She liked that even as the Ferengi came up behind her to grab something. "Remember what I taught you." Was all he said before he moved back towards the gambling section. She placed the drinks in front of Cam one at a time in rapid succession. "Let me know if you require anything else." The woman then moved off down the bar to the next patron.
"I'll keep that in mind" Cam said, picking up each shot and tipping them into the beer. As soon as he was finished, he pulled out a faded picture and put it on the counter "here's to you boys" he said, before chugging down the drink.
