Mission: The Race for the Lost Treasure

ON

The shuttle landed without incident. Ronnie began to gather her equipment and looked for Dezzy or Damion to lead the way.

Doctor Bowen picked up the medical backpack and pulled out the medical tricorder. She walked out the shuttlecraft with the others and scanned the area. "I don't see any lifesigns in this area," she said as she glanced at the instrument.

"Good," Ronnie said, stepping out behind her. "That means we shouldn't have any unwanted interruptions while we're looking around."

"Still, I would suggest we stay together, Lieutenant," Leanne said, knowing that she outranks her team, but doesn't want to be in charge unless it is a medical mission. "Do what you need to do...I'll keep an eye on my instrument for any lifesigns."

Ensigns Tyler sat, carefully scanning, both, with phasers out, back-to-back. "Perimeter scan complete." They said, at nearly the same time, after having, both, made a complete circle. "Sync it." Maddison said, with a frown. "It's done." Robert said, with a nod. They turned to the Marines. "Much as I hate to disagree with the good doctor, if the Doctor, and the Scientist have different ideas, in mind, we're willing to split, and guard separate teams."

"And I would have to disagree," Leo said walking out of the shuttle, scanning the desolate landscape with his eyes alone. He still looked hurt, but that was just scarring. "Just because nothing comes up on scanners doesn't mean that we won't be inturupted by someone or something."

Damion stepped out of the shuttlecraft and then looked around. He walked over to where Ronnie was and then nudged her slightly with a smile. He crossed his arms over his chest and smiled. "Any idea where we are suppose to he looking for, Ronnie?"

"Not sure," Ronnie said, answering Damion's question. "We're to have a good look around and see what's out here. If we see anything of interest, we take scans and samples. Like Captain Mangalia said, we never know who or what we might encounter."

"Then you don't mind if I follow you and keep you safe from harm?" Damion smiled as he continued to walk with her, keeping close to her and looked around every so often.

The lights on the medical tricorder flickered. Leanne frowned as she glanced at it. She tapped on the side of it, hoping that it would stop. A malfunction? She shook her head. The doctor followed the group and kept her eyes to the distance and to the tricorder. "Anybody having any problems with the tricorders or scanners? Mine seems to be strange..."

"Actually, I think I just might like that," Ronnie replied, smiling back at Damion. She was about to comment further when the doctor spoke. Ronnie pulled out her tricorder and scanned. "I think there's something a hundred yards ahead." Her tricorder flickered. "Maybe."

"I'm getting a touch tired of electrical malfunctions." Tyler muttered to his wife. "Seems every planet we go to, there's something to interfere with the signal, and someone gets kidnapped. Do you think there will ever be a mission where we can all just sit down, and have a cup of tea, and the mission goes perfectly smoothly?"

"I certainly hope not." Maddison muttered. "Then we'd be out of a job."

"Well we wouldn't want that," Leo muttered looking in the direction that everyone was waving their tricorders. His TR-114 was getting itchy in his hands, like it was wishing to finally do something. "Would the nice fleet personnel like the Marines to go over and see what's there?"

The doctor chuckled. "Let's hope not...," she put away the tricorder as she felt it was useless. "We have to just use our eyes and ears for now. I would think that would be a wise decision, Captain Mangalia," she said. "I hope we don't run into trouble."

Ronnie looked around carefully, taking note of where the most obvious landmarks were. "How 'bout we split up? Lieutenant Wolfe, me and the Tylers in one group, Commander Bowen, Captain Mangalia and Lieutenant Torel in the other. Meet back here in two hours?" she asked.

"That's not only a bad idea, I thought only a recruit or some buck out of basic would try something like that." Leo turned and looked, before reaching into a pocket and producing a pair of dark tint, no glint sun glasses and placing them over his eyes. "I would prefer that we stick together."

"Marine Captain Mangalia, with all due respect, sir," Maddison Tyler stated, in her soft, almost sing-song voice, "The lady has a point. We've got two sets of people who have things who need doing. Just because it would be hazardous, doesn't mean we would not get the gain of getting everything done, in a timely manner."

Robert's mind was now made up. He wasn't about to argue with his wife. He tapped his comm-badge. "Ensign Tyler to Lieutenant Levue, and Captain York. Permission to break up the away team, for efficiency purposes?"

"Given our current tactical status, I'm going to have to over-ride that, Mister Tyler. The Calypso may not be able to rescue you, in a quick, and orderly manner. I still leave it to Captain's discretion, of course, but that's my two penny's worth." Levue said.

Maddison Tyler took off her comm-badge, and said something, that only came out of her aquatic field, as a soft melody.

"Watch your mouth, Maddison. Just because the translator doesn't pick it up, doesn't mean people don't necessarily understand Velurian." Robert Tyler noted, Dryly.

A few more notes were muttered.

"That was just rude, young lady." Tyler said, shaking his head.

The doctor figured like she said, to stick together, but knew that there will be some disagreement. Instead of leading the group, she followed. Every so often, she glanced at the distance for anybody that might appear.
