Samantha sat in her command chair and looked to Kyt and Tav. "Okay, let's give it a go."

"The array's all ready," Tav reported, checking over his adjustments a final time. He turned around to face the viewscreen and the Ops console. "I'll fine tune as we go."

Mak was in the engine room and monitoring the operation from the main station. He hoped he wouldn't be needed but just in case Lieutenant Ross required support Mak could render assistance.

"Ronnie, ready to scan for the team if this works?" Sam asked.

"Yes, ma'am," Ronnie said.

Kyt pondered the weapons console, and seriously contemplated firing at the planet. She knew, however, that phasers created an imbalance in the air which negatively effected communications, immediately, and photon torpedo blasts ionized the atmosphere, devastating attempts to communicate, for almost half an hour.

She kept all of this in mind, and pondered, briefly, whether or not either attempt would be better off.

The theory of using phasers on a special frequency, to create an imbalance in the atmosphere, which would be beneficial, was something she had briefly considered. However, the computer methodically analyzed the theory, and absolutely refused to admit that it was possible. Instead, she stared at the weapons control board, and contemplated punching it. Or something else. Or someone else.

"Okay, send the signal," Sam said.

The communications officer nodded and pushed several buttons and slid the strength to maximum. She took a deep breath and tapped the button to send the signal. "Signal sent," she said redundantly.

"I'm receiving data," Ronnie said. "All ten away team members are alive."

"Calypso to away team. What's your status?"

"Captain! Hey! Serena! Slow down! I got the Captain on this-" A brief, static filled conversation with Daniels came through. Then his signal died.

Kyt quirked an eyebrow. "All ten team members are alive, but if my life-form scan is right, there's a fairly injured Vulcan down there." She refrained from admitting that she was relieved to hear Daniels' voice.

Tav was busy tapping controls, he right hand executed commands on the upper console, while his left worked the lower one, he was looking at neither as he worked.

"Modulated again, power increased to the array that picked up the signal, we're likely to blow the array if we push it further," Tav reported. "Try it again."

----------------------------

Serena stoped what she heard her name. She turned around and faced Daniels as she was communicating on to the ship. She quickly walked back to him and stood right in front of him and looked at him with a dear in the headlights look. Once again she heard the static sound of the Captain and then soon faded. She grabbed the commuicater from Daniels and opened the inside of it and started to tweek at it, trying to make a stronger signal.

Hearing the static sound that she longed for she bellowed, "Captain? Captain do you hear me?" Hopeing the signal made it through.

The little device emitted a plume of black smoke.

"I'm assuming that's a no." Daniels said, frowning.

------------------------------

Kyt scowled. "Lost Daniels' carrier wave. Signal fried." Kyt muttered.

"If we roll 10 degrees to starboard I can adjust to use a second array, but that's all we can afford to lose," Tav announced. "Bursts of data to a tricorder or padd are our best bet, not voice comms."

=^= Engineering to Ross, I took the liberty of scanning the surface and detect no power signatures down there. Just thought you should know, Free out. =^=

"Our sensors must still be blocked," Tav commented, in part to himself. "Combadges have a power source which should still be able to detect if they're working, and we know they are."

--------------------------

Seeing things were not working, Serena grabbed Daniels and headed towards the shuttle pod. Hoping there they could create a bigger signal. They terudged threw the tense forest until they reached there destination. Seren sighed as she ran to the pod not carring if Daniels was fallowing her or not. Reaching the pod Seren whipered to herself, "Thank God." Then opened the door. When she walked in everything was what it was and nothing had changed. Seren hurried to the controler and started fiddling with the scanner and sensors array.

-------------------------

"Okay, ready to give it another try, final array, we might manage to get some voice to the shuttle but that's about it," Tav explained.

Sam listened to her crew talk back and forth. Now that she knew her people were alive, a part of her could enjoy the banter. If only Damon were there... But he was still keeping to himself for the most part.
