Kara knew that things were up in the air as far as what would happen next with the away team and their apparent disappearance. But she'd never been one to sit back and wait to be called in. She wanted to be ready in case the Marines needed to do a search and rescue on the planet.
So she called her team to the Marine holodeck to run some drills to prepare them for a forest rescue operation.
Jennifer moved into the area and nodded to Kara."Staff Sergeant," she said simply. In her hands was a normal pulse phase rifle, and her battle gear. It seemed heavier since the fight over a month ago. "You called?"
"I did. We may have a situation on the planet. So, we're going to do some training -- just in case we're needed," Kara replied.
"Situation? Is the L T alright?" Jennifer asked, wondering what was going on.
"We lost communications with the away team shortly after they landed," Kara said. "Scans can't find them. However, there's a part of the planet that seems to affect systems. So they may be fine. We simply don't know."
Jennifer froze as the last words filtered past her brain. "We can't find hide nor hair of them?"
"No. We're now on standby. Thus, this training session," Kara re plied.
Chichire just entered in time to hear what the situation was "well this should be fun then" she said loudly so she would pronounced her self on having enter the room.
She paired everyone up and put them at several entry points. "What I want you to do is get in quickly, find the body and get out with the body intact. Ready? Go."
Jennifer hoisted her phase rifle and started moving, and she was alone. Breaching the door, she scanned with her eyes instead of with her equipment. Going through the house like this, she fired twice, dropping two targets that pulled from a window and from a door that she was getting ready to clear. The body was a stuffed dummy, weighed down to make it appear as though she was fire carrying a fellow Marine. As she made her way out of the house, she forgot to clear a closet, and was zapped harshly by the training dummy in there.
Kara watched, unimpressed. "If you can't even get through a house, how do you plan on getting through a thick forest with no buildings and no people? We don't even know if there are hostiles down there, Lance Corporal? What's your policy, kill them all and let God sort them out?"
"Shintaku, let's see if you can do anybetter," Kara barked.
Picking up her sniper rifle and fitting her eye piece on. She simply moved, painting here target with her Exographic targeting sensor. She started firing with stun rounds hitting her targets in the chest or the torso. When she reached the door she switched to her knife and pistol.
From there she started to clear the rooms from top to bottom, checking to make sure she did not miss anyone, always using her eye piece before entering so she knew where her targets were. "Well all clear. All enemy neutralized," Chichi yelled from inside the building. As she spoke she holstered her pistol and knife then walked back outside with her rifle at the low ready, still scanning to make sure there was no more surprises.
'Better," Kara said to Chichire. "Now, both of you, go back through without weapons. No kills. Let's see how you do this time. Computer, reset to Melo Forest Training 2." The building shimmered slightly and resolved into much the same as it was before.
"Go Guntold."
"Yes Sergeant," Jennifer said looking into the forest. She dropped her weapon, and then took the knife out of its sheath and stuck it into the holographic dirt.
"Go Shintaku."
"To make this fair I'll put away the eye piece," Chichire said, smiling.
Chi approaches the house, making use of all her heighten senses she could smell and hear two by the door with several more in the house. Along with she only could assume was a tied up hostage. She crept up closer to the house, looking though several windows till she saw the hostage.
She then moved up to the house as silently as she could using the blind spots of the house. When she saw an opening she went to slide the window open, but to no surprise it was locked. With some really quick thinking, she extended her claw and quickly cut a hole in the glass to unlock the window. She then proceeded to open it. Chi crawled inside and moved silently to the door to the room where the enemy was just coming in. She let him enter the room then after he got in shut the door Chi proceed to sneak up on the enemy.
Chi then proceeded to put the enemy into sleeper hold. She also made sure to cover his mouth so he could not yell. Carefully laying her enemy down to tell the hostage to quietly sneak out the window and run straight until the house was out of view. "I'll be behind you in a minute." As soon as the hostage left she waited for any one to come in. When time was up she crawled out the window. However, as soon as she did she heard shuffling coming towards her. She quickly dashed left to a blind spot then headed up to the hostage then they ran to one of the pickup site.
Traveling behind Shintaku, Jennifer went to the right, around the house. Having no weapons or scanners on her, she walked carefully, looking around to make sure that no one was going to take her down before she could get to the enemy. Nothing ever worked the way she wanted it to, but she was hopeful this time. Ducking low under the windows, she waited to hear any sign that Chichire had gotten into the house, but heard nothing. Looking to the left, she heard someone moving, and made for the tree line, ducking behind one of the tall Oak looking trees. Peeking around it, behind the sound of walking, she noticed that the person held a weapon low, at the ready still. Creeping up behind the person, she smiled and tapped his shoulder. "Excuse me, I seem to be lost," Jennifer said sweetly as the person turned, to be caught by a violent bottom swung palm, snapping his nose, and her arms soon wrapping around him, and she brought him to the ground, her right knee in his throat. "Nope, I got the right place, thanks anyway."
Kara listened as the two women made their way through the forest to the house. She could tell where they were by the sounds -- when there were sounds. After several minutes the hostage ran past her and Kara nodded. "Computer, freeze program." She blew her whistle and waited for the two to rejoin her. "Okay, you two. Not bad, but you still need to work on not killing people. We don't know if this is a hostage situation or not. As far as we know, it's a simple search and rescue. Think lost hiker, not kidnap victim."
Kara reset the program. "We're going to keep doing this until I'm satisfied with your progress. Do I make myself clear?" She waited for the two to nod. "Okay. Begin."
