Lizzie nodded her head at the doctor's comment. Then she had an idea. "If the locator beacon works, does your medical tricorder? If you can fix the security officer's concussion, he can help me figure out what's going on with the trees." Right now, finding out what was going on was as important to Lizzie as getting to sickbay. If the trees were the cause of the jamming, it was paramount she find out what was going on before someone did something stupid.

Jason nodded. "Marek, mind watching the nurse?" He picked up his medical tricorder and walked over to stand by the Vulcan and Lizzie. "I'll try..." After he opened his tricorder, it beeped a few times before it died. "Well, I just got a quick assessment of Stran before the tricorder died. Darn," he said as he opened his medical bag and pulled out a hypospray. "I was right in my assessment...mild concussion."

Marek nodded. "Sure," the Romulan sat down by the nurse and watched her. Though he did look around several times just to keep an eye on their surroundings.

Doctor Hart bent down on his knees next to the Vulcan, seeing that he was frowning or being confused. "Stran, I know you can hear me. I'm going to give you an injection for your concussion. It should help you think clearly..." After he injected the medication, he put the hypospray away and worked with the tricorder. Jason shook the instrument and it beeped as it came back to life for a minute. It died again. "At least I got part of the vitals on him before the tricorder died," he said. He set the instrument down and looked at Lizzie, "Help me turn Stran over to his side, I want to check the back where he fell..."

Lizzie very gently helped the doctor roll Stran on his side. She made sure he didn't twist or bend so there was no chance of exacerbating an existing injury.

As soon as they turned him on his side, Hart found a goosebump on the back of his head. "A small hematoma and mild abrasion. Lizzie, can you get me some white gauze out of my bag that is over by Yvette? Also, grab a roll of gauze." He looked over at Marek and Yvette quickly to make sure that everything was okay.

She got the doctor the gauze he requested. "Is this going to be enough to help with any possible concussion?"

"Yes, thanks." He took the supplies from her and applied it to Stran's head and wrapped it. "Okay, let's carefully set him on his back."

Marek was clueless about anything medical but he had a feeling that the nurse was doing okay as she had regular breathing. He couldn't tell much about anything else which he felt completely useless. He came to the decision that perhaps medic training would be in his best interest, considering he worked in engineering, and for those around him.

Doctor Hart felt the pulsating feeling behind his ear and rubbed it with his finger. "The implanted chip is sending a beacon to the ship...good thing that Doctor Bowen put it there to help the ship locate us...if it can get through. Stran should be healing from the concussion by now." He picked up the tricorder and hit it with his hand. "How you feeling, Stran?" he asked loudly while he worked with the instrument to get it to come on.

Stran kept looking at Lizzie. He had decided that the Doctor was asking rhetorical questions, and refrained from answering.

Lizzie tapped her combadge. If the doctor's chip was sending a signal, maybe the communications were back? "Jackson to Calypso."

"Calypso here."

"Ensign Stran and Chief Petty Officer Jaymes are injured," Lizzie said. "Nothing life-threatening, but they need to be transported to the ship."

Marek couldn't believe it and hoped the ship had a transporter lock on them as he was pretty sure he didn't want to be in another forest for a long time.

Stran looked up, from the face of Elizabeth Jackson, towards the sky behind her. He closed his eyes. Transporters would be a blissful thing. Stran thought to himself. He waited.

"I'm staying here. There's something bout these trees," Lizzie said, looking at the tree that dumped Stran on the gorund. Had the tree moved? Wasn't it closer before? She looked down teh the Vulcan. "You said the tree didn't like us?" She knelt by him to hear his reply.

Stran nodded. "It is not happy. People keep taking clippings." Stran said, barely a whisper. "And..." He shook his head. "There is something else. I do not understand."

"Can you give me some idea of what it is?" Lizzie asked.

"They are intelligent?" Marek asked in somewhat disbelief.

"Apparently," Lizzie said. "The Ensign didn't fall, he was dumped because he annoyed the tree. It seems we've been doing a lot of annoying since we arrived."

Marek nodded finally understanding what was going on. "It would seem communicating with the trees is our next priority if we want to get back to the ship." He said.

Just then they could hear the sound of the transporters engaging. All six of the crew -- along with two trees -- dematerialized in the blue haze of a transporter beam.
