Mission:
Prelude: Blowing away the Cobwebs
Location: Main Bridge
Timeline: Chris Brooks First day, Morning time
ON
Chris had just boarded the Orion and began to walk towards the Bridge to check in with his CO or XO. The thing that caught Chris the most was the size of this ship and that Chris would be the one behind the wheel. He had never piloted something so big before. After his incident, he was lucky to pilot a Waste Freighter. So when he heard about the Orion, he jumped at the chance. While he waited for his transfer, he would go to the holosuites and run simulations of the Galaxy class over and over piloting through various situations. Lost in thought, Chris came out of his trance when the turbolift doors opened onto the Bridge. He approached an Officer that fit the profile of the XO. "Lieutenant Brooks, reporting for duty, sir."
"Hello, You must be Lieutenant Brooks, Welcome aboard the Orion."
Chris smiled, "Yes sir, that's me. You must be Lieutenant Sheridan." Chris extended his hand.
Sheridan took his hand,"How was your trip, you made it just in time."
"Yes sir. There were events during the trip which set the ship back several days. You will have my full report as soon as I am settled in. Normally a trip is relaxing, this one was not. I trust you looked over my records and understand the circumstances of my court marshal?†Chris asked.
Sheridan Nodded,"Yes I've gone through your file, I don't understand why your were busted, but that's a Fleet issue. We are fortunate we have an Officer with your experience with us."
"I don't understand either, sir, but it was out of my hands. I have always considered myself a good, hardworking officer. No matter what happened, you will get my very best." Chris said.
"Outstanding, I'm glad your with us here on the Orion."
"It sure is a big ship. Biggest I have ever been on. I have already logged over 30 hours on the holodeck getting familiar with the handling of such a big ship in all types of conditions."
John smiled, "Your gonna get your chance with this rig real soon Brooks, I'm sure you'll do fine."
Chris laughed, "Yes sir, I am sure I will fit in just fine. What about you sir, what your story?"
"This is my first turn at the First officer position, before that I was a test pilot and instructor."
"Looks like we have something in common, flying. I use to fly fighters. Those were the days. Congratulations on your promotion to Executive Officer."
"I'll be seeing you on the bridge soon as we're almost ready for launch, if there's anything you need just let me know."
"Thank you sir, I will." Chris replied.
