Mission: Prelude: Blowing away the Cobwebs
Location: Holodeck 2

Alex stood outside the holodeck, waiting. He wasn't late yet, but she'd arrived early as she always did. She wore a beautiful dress made of soft white silk. She hadn't been out in a while and didn't usually have a chance to wear it. Perhaps it was a bit too fancy, and it hugged her body to closely for a business meeting...not that it was a business meeting. Why was it that every time she tried to get to know a male crew member, it always seemed like a date. At times, it was much less complicated to just call it a date, instead of worrying yourself over it. There's nothing wrong with a date, after all.

Chris loaded his favorite recipe for Orange chicken and chow mien noodles into his replicator. About one hour before that he began to chill some white wine to go with it. Once everything was done he loaded it into a picnic basket and made his way for the holodeck. Chris was wearing a white cotton button up shirt, left untucked and a pair of Khaki pants along with a natural color pair of loafers. Once he turned the corner, he could see the holodeck entrance along with a vision of beauty, an angel wearing a white form fitting dress waited for him there. He really couldn't believe his eyes. Once he approached her, he smiled and held out his hand.....

She returned his smile, giving him her hand. "On time. I'm impressed."

Chris lifted her hand to his lips, kissing it gently. "You look stunning. shall we?" gesturing towards the door to the holodeck. "I hope you are hungry."

"Very." She said. She thought again..this did seem alot like a date to her. She loaded the holodeck and opened the doors. Together, they walked into a beach paradise. It was night time, and the only light came from the moon and the beach houses that lined. She looked back at him, a gentle white light from the moon reflecting off of her face. "You like?"

Chris smiled. "A beautiful evening with a beautiful woman, very much so." The moon light caused her eyes to glisten as it reflecting off her face and hair. He continued to follow her, watching her graceful movements that seemed to be intoxicating.

She unfolded the blanket she'd bought and set the picnic basket on it. "What are we having, if I may ask?" She asked as she removed the high healed shoes she'd been wearing. The sand felt great around her feet.

"I didn't get to ask you what types of food and drinks you like, so I hope it's okay. If not, I will be running to the replicator. I hope you like Chinese food, Orange and Mandarin chicken with chow main noodles and some white wine." Chris explained hoping that she did and cursing himself for not gathering more information before hand.

"That sounds great, actually." She smiled, sitting down on the blanket with her legs folded to one side. The most ladylike way to sit, seeing as her dress was on the short side. She opened the basket and pulled out the bowls and the bottle of wine. She looked at it curiously. "What is this?"

"That is a bottle of white wine for us to drink. Let me open it for you my dear." Taking the bottle, he uncorked it with an audible pop. Chris reached in the basket and pulled out a glass and filled it before handing it to Alex. Then retrieve his glass and filled as well. Chris held up his glass, "To the Orion, may she be filled with pleasant memories."

She raised her glass and took a drink. She'd already put a lot into this ship, and felt somewhat connected with it.

"Let me prepare your plate." Chris reached in the basket and began to pull out bowls and silverware. "I was meaning to ask you, you are dressed very nice and this is a very romantic setting. I was wondering if we were on a date or what is it that we are doing here other than having dinner. I would like to think of it as a date, but I don't want to get the wrong impression, especially if you are just looking for a friend and nothing more. I am looking for more." Chris took a big drink of wine before he handed Alex a bowl stuffed with steaming food.

She took the food and set it down in front of her. "I've met a lot of crew during my short time in Starfleet. Only every male I've met has asked to meet me in a more...private setting. I suppose I've gotten used to it." She giggled softly and looked up at him. "As for your second question...I'm not looking exactly, but finding something special is never a problem."

"Well, good. I am glad we got that out of the way and I am glad that I am not disappointed. Please, let us enjoy the evening." Chris began to fix his plate, smiling at Alex.

She started eating. She was trying her best not to show how hungry she was. She hadn't eaten in two days, she was so busy in Engineering. She had so much on her mind, she just never thought to pick up a bite to eat. She looked up at the handsome man in front of her with a flirting smile as she wiped from the corner of her mouth. "Where did you serve before you came to the Orion?"

"Oh boy, a few ships.....Lets see, my first assignment right out of the academy was the Concord, I was an Ensign assigned with the 101st Fighter wing flying Valkyrie fighters. Later I was promoted to Lieutenant JG." Chris took a drink from his glass before continuing.

"I was promoted to Full Lieutenant and XO of the 33rd Fighter Squadron on the Delaware. Later I transferred to the Valkyrie and assigned to the 163rd fighter wing and my last assignment before here was the Accelerator. I was Chief Flight Control there when it was forced down."

She looked at him, confused, but still eating. "You say you were a full Lieutenant?"

Chris look down, playing with his food, "Yes I was. Being the highest ranking officer alive from the Accelerator, I was Court Marshaled for following orders of my Captain because I took the ship into the neutral zone and subsequently it was forced down and a lot of lives were lost."

"But you were just following orders..that doesn't sound right." She gave him a sad look. "I'm sorry." She put her hand on his leg gently.

Chris placed his hand on hers. Her touch felt good and reassuring at the same time. "Thank you. Its done with and I can't change it. I know its not my fault and I just trying to move on. What about you Alex? I want to know all about you."

"Shall I start with birth?" She laughed to herself at her bad joke. "I was born in Rome, Italy. My father was the Governor of Italy from my birth til my late teens. My mom wasn't happy when I joined starfleet." She laughed again. "Mama wanted me to be a model...but of course I loved to fly and fix. I joined starfleet and trained in Engineering and Flight Control. I left For a few months to take care of my mama when my dad died, but I soon returned and graduated."

She took a sip of the wine in front of her before she continued. "I was assigned first as Lead shuttle pilot aboard the USS Istanbul, then from there, I was promoted to Lieutenant Jg and assigned as Assistant Chief Engineer on the Enterprise-D. When the ship was destroyed at Varidian, I was assigned as a helm officer on the Stallion. Then Chief Engineer on the Paladin...then here."

Chris perked up when she was talking about flying and piloting. "Well, it looks like we have a few things in common, music and flying being a big part of that. I loved flying Fighters, they were so thrilling. I have some great holodeck programs for fighters, so if you ever want a thrill ride, I would love the company. It looks like you were hungry, may I get you more food?"

She shook her head quickly. "No thank you. I think I've had enough. And, I've never flown a fighter before. I'd love to try it sometime."

Chris smiled, "Of course we can do that any time you want." Chris still had his hand on hers drew her hand to his mouth and kissed it gently. "Now, how about that music you promised or would you rather take a romantic walk along the beach first?"

She looked at him with a smile. >This is too easy..I'm gonna have to play a little hard to get...but not tonight. > She thought. "Um...that's a difficult choice." She thought about it for a second. "The walk. I think you'll find I've added a lot of subtle beauty to this place." She reached her hand up for help getting up.

Chris quickly jumped up, taking her hand and gently helping her to her feet, holding her hand for a couple of seconds extra. Chris looked at her Alex's face, "Perfect. shall we?" Chris held out his arm in a loop.

She put her arm in his with a gorgeous smile. "We shall."
