Mission:
Peace, or Something Like It
Location: USS Calypso - Communications Center
Timeline: Current
[USS Calypso - Communications Center]
Ensign Miyazaki had continued to monitor the communications on the planet. The communications from the Coalition were still giving her a lot of trouble. For a short period of time the communications from the Coalition had come in clear. The Calypso crew had been able to find out a lot about what was happening in the Coalition territory but even with the information they hand on hand only lead to further questions that no one seemed to have an answer for.
On the other hand the Alliance communications were a lot easier to keep track of. There were two types of transmissions that she was picking up from the Alliance. The first type was the civilian transmissions. They were not coded but they also didn't present much in sense of information concerning the situation. Then there were the military transmissions that were coded but their technique was not as advanced as the Coalition so they were easy to decode.
Nothing was out of the ordinary until all of the transmissions from the Alliance suddenly went silent. Sakura at first thought that it was her instrument, but she was still picking up transmissions from the Coalition she just couldn't hear them. So her instruments were working perfectly. This was definitely out of the ordinary.
There was communications silence from the Alliance for about five minutes than suddenly one military transmission was sent across the whole Alliance territory. It was sent to every major city in the Alliance and every military base. It didn't matter how small or large it was they received the message. The origin of the transmission was the Onasi Palace.
The transmission was coded just like all of the military transmissions from the Alliance but the coding on this one was very different from the others. It was tougher to crack but Sakura eventually managed to open the transmission. To her surprise there was only one word in the transmission Diamond.
She immediately realized that it was some type of a code that was being used by the Alliance. Also, after the transmission was sent approximately 30 seconds later the regular chatter from the Alliance territory resumed. She was confused by this sudden behavior. She needed to let Lieutenant Tovan know right away.
"Ensign Miyazaki to Lieutenant Tovan..."
"Go ahead Ensign..." The response took a couple of seconds and he sounded like he had been asleep. The truth was that he was in the process of trying to fall asleep. He headed to bed early. He wanted to make sure that he got some sleep before the mission in the morning.
"I'm sorry if I have woken you up, but we have had some strange activity from the Alliance communication..." That was honestly the best way for her to describe it. She knew that he would want the details of just how strange this activity was or what exactly was happening.
"Explain Ensign..."
Delon lay in his bed with his eyes closed as Ensign Miyazaki explained to him how the transmissions had suddenly stopped for a short period and before they resumed to normal there was just one transmission that had one word in it. It was coded differently. The good thing was that he knew someone that might have an answer for them.
"Ensign Miyazaki, there is a VIP guest by the name of Lumiya Onasi in the VIP quarters located on Deck 3. She might be able to shed some light on the situation. Please, go there right away and see what she knows. I am on my way there as well."
"Right away, sir."
