[USS Calypso - Bridge]
The doors hissed open and the image of the bridge appeared in front of Tovan. In the time that he had been in Starfleet he had been on various bridges on various ships and each time it was nothing special. He never felt nervous or anxious. However, this time it was very different. For the first time in his career he had a nervous feeling building up inside of him. It was almost as if he had to tell himself to keep it cool and collected.
This was very different for him. He was use to walking onto the bridge and heading for the Operations stations, now he was going to sit in the big chair. He was in command of the vessel until either Commander York was found or Commander Sinclair recovered which didn't look like was going to happen anytime soon.
He grabbed the bottom of his uniform jacket and pulled it down. He took a deep breath and stepped onto the bridge. The doors hissed behind him and he stood there. He looked at the crew working on the bridge. He reminded himself that he had to hold it together. He couldn't allow this nervous energy to affect him in any shape or form. He had to show and prove to the crew that they could count of his command abilities.
He needed to carry himself as if he belonged there on the bridge. As if he belonged in the big chair making the big decisions even if it was only for a short time. He needed to do this and he was going to do just that.
He took a first few steps allowing his eyes to scan the bridge as he began making his way towards the consoles at the back of the bridge. Two crew members were sitting down in the chairs working on the consoles. They paid little attention to him as they were busy with their work. He didn't say anything either just quickly scanned from behind on what they were working.
He also managed to take one quick glance at the tactical console as he made his way down the ramp towards the empty command chair. He stood at the bottom of the ramp looking out the view screen at the planet that showed in front of them. It looked peaceful, but truth be told it was chaos on that world.
There was pain, destruction, and hate. He wondered were Commander York might have been taken. The planet was vast and their instruments weren't very accurate when scanning the rock in front of them. It was frustrating. But he also knew that they needed to have patients in such a situation. They couldn't panic. It would do no good.
He turned to the chair and looked at it. After a deep breath he walked over to it and sat down in it like he belonged in the chair. The nervous energy he felt before was now gone as he leaned back in the chair. This was his time.
