Mission: Peace, or Something Like It
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: After conference meeting

::ON::

"You're back pretty fast," Leanne said as she looked up from the monitor on her desk, seeing her medical officer standing there.

"The meeting came to near the end when I walked in there," Jason said as he stood in front of her desk. "Any changes with the Commander?"

"Nope. Still the same...," she glanced at her monitor to read his vitals and looked back up at him.

"Know the cause of it?"

"Not yet." Leanne turned her head to sneeze. She grabbed a tissue and wiped her nose.

"I believe you are not having an allergy...", he said as he watched her like a hawk.

Leanne looked up at him, found him staring at her that just made her uncomfortable. She didn't want him to be concerned about her mild illness that is starting to creep up on her. Too much going on, I don't have time to deal with the new symptoms, she thought as she looked down to avoid his eyes. "I'm fine."

"Doctors make worse patients," he said as he slowly walked around her desk.

She felt her space was about to be invaded and she sat back in her chair, wondering what he is about to do. "Oh? I believe that statement refers to you...um, you need to get back to work, doctor."

"I am at work," he said as he grasped her wrist to check her pulse. "Tachycardia...hmm. I believe you need a check up to see what is going on."

She pulled her wrist away from his hand after she felt the strange sensation of being touched, "I have already said that I'm fine, doctor."

He put both hands on the arms of her chair to prevent her from getting up. "Let me be the judge of that...I'm a doctor."

A nervous laughter escaped her. "In case you noticed, I'm a doctor, too." The male closeness has made her stomach develop butterflies. She cannot accept these feelings as it is not professional. Her body is saying yes to these feelings but her mind is saying no. Is he trying to seduce her? She hoped not. "This is not the place..."

"This is sickbay...a place for a check-up."

"I know that! You are invading my space here," Leanne said as she pushed his hands away from the arm of her chair. "I'm the Chief here and I order you to leave my office now!"

"How long have you had your physical, Leanne?"

"None of your business..." She stood up and sneezed again.

"If you don't get that checked out...it may get worse. What if it is that virus that the nurse and that other person had? And I was going to talk to you about something when I got back from the away mission," Jason said as he moved back a little to give her space. "I sent a copy of the blood work to my old professor who is an expert in virology and bacteriology. I think something is going on with this...not just an influenza or just a regular virus. You are showing some symptoms of a cold and you know it is virual." He crossed his arms, "I'm the only doctor if you ended up sick or unconscious. I know that you don't trust the EMH to do diagnosis on illnesses. So, I suggest I do a full body scan on you."

Leanne sniffled. "Okay, you win," she said as she walked out of her office, assuming that Jason was going to follow her. She picked an empty biobed and sat down on it. "Just don't touch me again."

He followed her and waited till she got settled. "Why? Do I shock you or something? Let me guess...a chemistry shock?"

"Can't we get this over with?" She said impatiently.

"Okay," he said went around to the other side. "Lay down."

She laid down on her back and closed her eyes. Leanne felt the movement of the bed as the sides came up and around her chest to her upper leg area. She was tired and felt her joints were aching. And her mind started to drift into dreams, forgetting of where she is at the moment and loosing track of time.

Leanne opened her eyes when she heard Jason calling her name several times. She stared into his concerned eyes and blinked.

"There you are...you fell asleep," he said as he put his hand out to help her sit up.

With a fogged mind, she swallowed and frowned at him. "I guess so. What's the diagnosis?"

"Mild stage of the same virus that has affected your nurse."

"Are you sure?" Doctor Bowen said as she removed herself from the biobed to glance at the readings on the monitor. "I guess that is why I feel tired..." Oops...didn't mean to say that symptom outloud, she thought.

"Positive. Now, I will have to order you go off duty to rest."

"I am the Chief here and I have too much paperwork to do, plus the Commander needs to be looked after..."

He crossed his arms, "Forget the rank pulling here. I'm saying this as your doctor."

"Oh, no. I'm not a patient..."

"Like I said, doctors make worse patients. I can look after the Commander. Do I need to call security to confine you to your quarters?" He uncrossed his arms.

"No, you don't do that..."

"Watch me," Jason said as he held up his hand and was about to hit his combadge till she grabbed his hand. He was about to smile, but kept his face straight.

"Do you always have to win?"

"Look," he said as he put his hand down after she let go of it. "Go get some rest, but I suggest you do light duty when you start to feel a little better. I know you are my boss, but I can handle the duties for now. No more excuses."

She figured that she can't fight back as she noticed that he is being serious, instead of the cocky personality that he usually carry around with him. "Okay, I'll be in my quarters if you need me."

Jason gave her a boyish smile, "Go rest..."
