[Runabout > Starbase Typhon > USS Calypso]
The gentle beeping of working instruments in the front compartment echoed through the empty room. Delon and his traveling companion had both taken a seat in the front and maneuvered the runabout out of warp and towards the starbase. It was a welcoming sight. Their journey had taken approximately two and a half days but now finally it was nearing it's end.
It wasn't that he disliked flying in space, the truth was that he enjoyed it very much but being stuck in a runabout with a Vulcan that didn't say much wasn't his idea of a good time. It had been an awkward trip. Each man kept to themselves and said a few words here and there on occasion.
Delon turned to the Vulcan and smiled at him. There was an expressionless face staring back at him. It was very frustrating dealing with Vulcans. He found it very hard that they were related to the Romulans at all.
The silence was broken off by an incoming message from the starbase. Delon explained to the officer who they were and their reason for the visit to the starbase. After a few moments they were cleared to dock at the starbase. And so they did.
Delon jumped out of his seat as soon as they had completed the docking procedure and headed towards his bag that rested near the hatch door. It was a medium size duffle bag that held his personal belongings. One would imagine that a man that stayed aboard a ship for close to eight years would have collected more items but not him.
After inputting the proper command he turned over to the Vulcan. "It's been fun...let's not do it again." A smirk on his face as he walked out of the runabout. The Vulcan was left standing there with a puzzled expression on his face.
As he walked down the corridor leading from the runabout towards a more crowded corridor he opened his bag enough to slide his hand inside of it. He over turned a few items in his duffle bag and pulled out a PADD from it. It was his transfer orders.
Delon aware that the ship might be leaving soon for its first mission hurried down the corridor. It wouldn't look good if he was left behind after all this was only his second assignment. He had served aboard Yuma for many years. Been promoted and even moved up in the positions. The ship had become his home but he knew that it would take many years before he was offered a higher position aboard that vessel and when he heard that Calypso was seeking a Chief Operations Officer he couldn't pass up on it.
The job came with bigger quarters and no roommates. A higher rank and it would have come with a higher pay that is if the Federation hadn't gotten rid of such a thing. As he walked down the crowded corridor he accidentally bumped into someone and continued on walking.
The person had stopped for a moment and turned around looking at his back. She shook her head and mumbled something about the person behind rude and then turned to head on her way once again.
Delon walked into a transporter room and talked to the chief behind the controls. The chief contact the ship and soon enough he was given the green light to be transported onto the ship. Soon enough he had vanished from one transporter room and re-appeared in another.
"Welcome aboard sir." The transporter chief greeted him as he stood on the transporter platform.
"Thank you." Delon responded heading towards the door.
"Commander is in her ready room, if you would please make your way there."
"Understood." Delon nodded to the chief and headed out the room and down the corridor.
As soon as the doors shut closed behind him there was another request to beam aboard another person that was there to report for duty. The chief accepted and beamed the female on board. It was the same one that Delon had run into previously. She had her bags in her hands and her collar was golden with one full pin and one hollow.
