Location: Tiberius IV USS Orion

ON

[OLD]

"McGraw, ---- Orion. We'll transport ---- you're clear. Acknowledge."

[NEW]

"McGraw to Orion, Acknowledged. My next transmission will be the Mark point for transport. Mcgraw Out." Wiping his brow and putting the craft on auto-pilot as soon as they left atmosphere, he went back to the cargo area. 'So far, so good,' he thought. A little shaky at first, but the training had kicked in and he had managed to get them off the ground in record time. He walked back up to the cockpit.

Sitting back down and stretching he eyeballed the distance between them and the ship. 'I figure I've got about 5 more minutes before we're in range,' as he reached for the comm panel. "Commander, this is Ensign McGraw. Transporter room is standing by to beam the wounded crewman to Sickbay on my mark. We have about 5 minutes before we hit that point. Can we have someone prep him for transport if they haven't already?"

Samantha walked up to the front and sat down in the co-pilot's seat. "He's ready to go. Have the Orion lock on to crewman Smith and beam two directly to sickbay."

"Aye, Captain." "Orion, this is McGraw. We will be beaming Ensign Fraser and Crewman Smith to Sickbay." Randy paused to take a breath. "Transporter Room, this is McGraw, on my mark initiate transport....mark."

Ewan and the medic slowly dematerialized from the firefly.

The firefly, now free of the atmosphere, received a clear transmission from the ship. "Orion to McGraw. We have them in sickbay. Shuttle bay 3 is ready for you to land."

Randy smiled at the Commander, grateful his first mission had gone off without a hitch. "Orion this is Ensign McGraw, returning home, will be docked in five minutes."

When he'd closed the connection, Sam turned to him. "I guess now's a good time to make introductions. I'm Samantha York. You must be new."

Randy grinned. "Well I can say it is a pleasure to meet you Ma'am. I think that it was easier on me to meet you this way, rather then just reporting in. This way I am in my element, which is more relaxing for me, than say standing at attention."

Kaj had tried to sit down but not only was the pilot's itch in full force but the crash of his had made him more than eager to make up for it. Consequently he undid his restraints and with practiced motions to counter the movement of the ship he started to make his way towards the hatch that lead to the controls.
"Mind if I sit in up there Ensign? CFCO's prerogative after all."

Randy glanced at the Lieutenant. "Well, right now I am kinda busy reporting in to the Commander, as the new Wing Commander, which I will say isn't really a strain on piloting since the course is pretty much locked in for now. If you would like to enjoy the much better view from up here. I guess I could use a co-pilot, although it would be in a supernumerary sense." He cleared his throat and continued his conversation with the Commander.

"I must say though Ma'am, that I am excited to have my first posting as a Wing Commander being onboard a Galaxy class vessel."

"Good. I'm happy to have a Wing Commander," Sam replied.

"I will do the best that I possibly can for you. I have every confidence that when the mission calls for us, that we will not only be ready, but we will be the top fighter unit in the Task Force." Randy glanced down at the controls, and then tapped a few commands in, taking the firefly off autopilot. "Orion, this is Ensign McGraw, we are making our final approach, will be docking in approximately 30 seconds. McGraw out." With that, he entered in a simple course correction and prepped the firefly for landing.

Kaj meanwhile had clambered up the access hatch and into the cockpit after apologizing to Sam for interrupting. Settling into the co-pilots chair he stretched a bit but didn't hit a button.
"Sorry about that, I kinda get edgy if I have to be a passenger in anything smaller than a Nebula class. You know how it is, that pilot's itch.

Kaj Mikkola, Chief Flight Control Officer, but don't let that scare you I managed to crash on my first outing here. And since you have clearance, wanna try landing the old fashioned way, like they used to on 20th century aircraft carriers? All I have to do is call the LSO on duty and get them to light the tree up."

"McGraw to Orion, why is the power cut to shuttlebays 2 and 3?"

"Give us a minute to clear the Ghezuns out of the shuttle bay, McGraw!" Lieutenant Junior Grade Lire's voice came through the comm system.

In the background, another voice was heard. "To heck with clearing the Ghezuns out. Jaxara to all officers, clear the shuttle bay for immediate decompression."

Much to Randy's dismay, he held the firefly in place as he watched the shuttle bay suddenly decompress.

"LT Jaxara, this is Ensign McGraw. I have the Commander on board and IF you would be so kind, re-pressurize the shuttlebay so we can land this craft."

"McGraw, it's in basic training to land a shuttle on a depressurized deck. In fact, it was not that long ago, that we had to depressurize most shuttle decks in order to get anything in or out of them. You may, however, have minor difficulty flying through the 93 Ghezun corpses, as we appear to have found their temporary nesting place." Jaxara replied. "Lire, depressurize the deck immediately."

Feeling a small, and I do say SMALL, surge of pity for the tiny beasts, Randy targeted and vaporized each one, using only the thrusters to snap the firefly around to get each Ghezun and use the phasers on each and every one. He quickly realized the issue at hand: there were too many. "Mikkola, on my mark you are going to vent a small amount of plasma." Randy didn't bother listening, for a response, he was busy re-configuring the deflectors into a magnetic net to maneuver the plasma like a fiery net to catch and incinerate the Ghezuns. "MARK!"
