"She won't Captain." Damion said sternly. "Yes, her and I have a history. Yes, I owe her my life. But, I am also the best person to tell you that she isn't that type of person. She will give us what we need, without asking for anything in return. She won't try to cheat us or escape. Thy'las is done running around. She's never had a chance to be a mother, or even get to know her daughter. She'll do her time for what she is convicted of. Right now, while she is here, I ask that she is treated like a human being. Former member of Starfleet or not, she is still a person. And a mother. And to some, blood or not, a sister."

Sam looked from Remy to Damion. "Then we shall give her enough rope to hang herself or prove that she's reliable. We've all done things that could get us in trouble and we've all been given second chances. She deserves the same."
"I want you to know, Captain, that I will be making a note of this decision in my report. When this decision bites us in the end, and it will, you won't have to be hear I told you so, because you'll know that I was right." Remy said calmly before giving a smile, walked away and finally out of the room.
"You make your report, Shrimp." Damion replied harshly as the doors to the briefing room closed. He took a moment to calm down before placing his hands behind his back.
"And you need to control your temper, Mr. Wolfe," Sam said quietly. "Lieutenant LeBeau has some valid points. This could still turn around and bite us in the backside. It will be up to you to see that it does not."
Damion nodded slightly. "If it were anyone else, I would agree. But it's not, Captain." He let out a deep sigh and crossed his arms over his chest. "If you don't trust me, than trust your own instincts. Go talk to her yourself, Captain. You'll see you have nothing to worry about."
"If I didn't trust you, she wouldn't get this chance," Sam said. "But your attitude didn't help any. Lieutenant LeBeau is good at his job, even if you don't agree."
Damion uncrossed his arms and raised a brow. "I already said that if it were anyone else I would be agreeing with him, and that fact stays in this room and between you and me, but I won't stand by and have him paint a picture of someone he has never met. She is not that kind of person. LeBeau hasn't even taken the time to speak to her, let alone read her record. I wouldn't be surprised if he was taking this position as a means of further getting under my skin. Captain. I understand you're busy with this whole diplomatic thing, as well as balancing your work and personal life. However, if you find the time, go and speak to her. Talk to her like a person, not a criminal, and you will see that she isn't a threat like LeBeau is making her out to be. I'm sorry my attitude hasn't been professional, but if someone was painting out Ronnie to be a criminal, I can't imagine you not taking the same kind of position either."
"That's true, I would defend Ronnie," Sam said. Or any of a number of people on her crew. She'd been with many of them for years and trusted them implicitly. "I understand your argument, and I agree to you on several levels. However, you do make it much harder to take your side when you're belligerent. When this business with the Jenefrans is over, I'll talk to her, but right now, I have more critical matters to deal with.
"That's all I ask." Damion replied softly. "Thank you. Thy'las and Tallas thank you as well." He nodded his head and gave a bit of a weak smile before crossing his arms back across his chest and looking to the PADD. "If you could leave a thumb print and whatever else you need in order to approve it."
"Ah, yes," Sam said, picking up the PADD and quickly looking it over before affixing her thumbprint. "There you go," she said, handing him the PADD again. "Tell Ronnie to stop by when things calm down."
Damion took the PADD, not all that happy about how things happened, but satisfied that it went through none the less. "Has she told you?" He asked, looking down at the PADD while he still spoke to her. "About the decision we made recently?"
"She told me she's pregnant," Sam said. "And how happy you both are about it."
"I've asked her to move in with me. She want's to move everything she has. We are waiting for an approval from the quatermaster for a bigger quarters so we actually can get her stuff and my stuff in one place." Damion said softly before looking over to her.
"That's great," Sam said, walking over to a cabinet and pulling out a blank PADD. "I can help expedite that." She entered instructions to Apu to give Damion and Ronnie family quarters and then affixed her thumbprint as authorization.
She handed the PADD to Damion. "This should get you new quarters immediately. I know we have some available."
Damion looked at the PADD in her hands and quickly added. "I was also considering asking her to marry me." His eyes looked from the PADD to Sam. "You may not understand, but its a big step for an Intelligence Officer that requires some paper work. There are things that need to be approved and disapproved. An Interview that needs to be done. It's a big step, not only for me, but for her too. I hold a lot of secrets. I have left some personal demons out there that I promised to bring in. As much as I want to tell her everything, I also am afraid of the risk her and the baby will be in." He stopped for a moment and took a deep breath. "As much as Max wants to help, even he can't break his own rules. You understand?"
"I do understand," Sam said. She'd married Max and Kathryn. "You also need to realize that she's already been compromised. She was on the Nightstar with you, she's carrying your baby and she'll soon be living with you. I don't think making it official will change much. Talk to Admiral Hunter. I think he'll be more understanding that you expect." She couldn't help smiling at the idea. "Personally, I think you should. It would be good for both of you."
"There are more things than the Nightstar, Captain." Damion said softly. "What they want is to make sure she can be trusted with the secrets I know. Believe me. I want this to work. I'm afraid if I let her into that world, would it change the woman I love and/or put them at risk. I don't want them to be at risk."
