Mission:
Shadow Dance
Timeline: Immediately after "Approaching Jenefra"
ON:
When the meeting was all cleared of Officers, with the exception of Commodore York and Lieutenant Batiste, Damion picked up his PADD. With the way the meeting went for him, it was difficult to be in a better mood about his request and expect a good outcome. However, he still owed it to Tallas to try. It would be even more difficult with that annoying Dwarf fighting him at every turn. Damion just cleared his throat and walked over to Sam. "Captain. I wanted to ask you for a favor."
"A favor that is a general danger, I would like to point out." Remy replied quickly, interrupting Wolfe.
"Save it, Grumpy." Damion turned to Remy quickly and shouted. "This isn't about you."
Remy walked closer as he placed his hands behind his back. "You're right. It's about the safety of the chip and crew. Allowing a dangerous criminal to move freely and have access to equipment is asking for trouble." He turned to Sam and nodded his head. "Captain. Mister Wolfe is blinded by his personal feelings to see the potential danger in his request. If it were anyone else, I am sure, he wouldn't even be thinking of what was going on."
"That has nothing to do with this! You're just arguing the point just because its in your obnoxious nature!" Damion replied in a hostile tone.
Sam held out her hand for the PADD. "So, tell me why you want this favor?" she asked.
"Because, Thy'las-" Damion answered before being interrupted.
"A known criminal mind you." Remy interjected.
"Quiet you." Damion shot back before looking to Sam. "Thy'las was brought on board after the capture of the Captain Stryfe and the Nightstar. Yes, she is still a witness and subject in regards to that investigation and has offer to cooperate. Her only crime was being mislead into believing that she, and the rest of the crew, were still working for Starfleet Intelligence."
"Ignorance is no excuse for common sense." Remy interjected. "From the moment the first body dropped that should have been a clear sign something was amiss. Claiming ignorance is just a way to get out of serving a full sentence. It's like claiming insanity for a murder that would have clearly required planning and premeditation."
"Captain. She has a daughter. Tallas Shirol. Until recently they have never met. Tallas didn't even know that she was even alive. They can't get to know each other through a force field." Damion continued, trying to ignore Remy's comments.
Remy let out a deep sigh. "You see? Mister Wolfe is obviously blinded by the fact that he knows this woman and he works with her estranged daughter. She is still a subject in a series of crimes against the Federation and Starfleet. She may not have physically fired the weapons but she is still an accessory to those crimes. Captain? The woman hasn't even been judged for those crimes. We can let her walk about the corridors putting everyone in danger."
"She won't be a danger. I will provide her personal security escorts, who will also ensure she does not make it into restricted areas. She won't be any trouble. She just want's to be with her daughter." Damion said as he looked to Sam. "She hasn't held her since she was a baby. Captain, she joined the Nightstar under the impression that her child would be well taken care of. That child, was then used against her if she didn't do what she was ordered to do. When I got out of there, one of the first things I did was ensure Tallas was no longer in danger and I wouldn't have made it out of there if it wasn't for Thy'las."
"Captain. This woman is a highly training officer. She could easily slip passed two security escorts." Remy added.
"She won't." Damion replied, looking over to Remy sharply before focusing back on Sam. "She realizes this is big leap of faith but I trust her."
"Oh okay." Remy spoke sarcastically as he crossed his arms over his chest and shook his head. "We're supposed to believe that a woman, a dangerous criminal who is highly trained Intelligence Agent, is going to behave just because you trust her. Open your eyes, Wolfe. She is playing you like a fiddle. If you believe she is going to behave herself I have a bridge I can sell you. If you ask me, the woman is better off having no connection with her daughter. She lost the privilege the moment she broke the law."
Damion turned to Remy. "One more word and I will throw you out the nearest airlock, Munchkin!"
"Believe it or not, I've already read the report about the Nightstar," Sam said. "We have better ways to monitor someone than just a security escort. We have subdermal monitoring as well as computer monitoring."
"And you don't think an agent of her training can't find a way from to divert those things?" Remy replied. "Captain. Starfleet isn't the only ones who thought of using sub-dermal monitors. In fact, several of the methods our officers are training to withstand and escape, the equipment used are Starfleet."
"Captain." Damion interrupted Remy before he could continue. "I can assure you Thy'las will agree to any method as long as it gets her closer to her daughter. You don't even have to decide now. Meet her for yourself. Talk to her. Feel her out. You'll see she isn't a threat."
"I'm fine with limiting her access to a section of the ship, which includes visits from her daughter," Sam said. "However, if she does anything amiss, I will not only throw her back in the brig, but drop her off at the nearest Starbase. Is that understood?" she said, addressing Damion.
Then she turned to Remy, "She did help them escape, and is testifying against Stryfe. She's earned a modicum of trust. I have no trouble giving her a little more freedom -- if she's carefully monitored."
"She is a criminal, Captain. Her help always come with conditions and she will followed our rules up until it best suits her. She will also withhold information in order to push for more favor with us." Remy replied quickly and firmly.
"She won't Captain." Damion said sternly. "Yes, her and I have a history. Yes, I owe her my life. But, I am also the best person to tell you that she isn't that type of person. She will give us what we need, without asking for anything in return. She won't try to cheat us or escape. Thy'las is done running around. She's never had a chance to be a mother, or even get to know her daughter. She'll do her time for what she is convicted of. Right now, while she is here, I ask that she is treated like a human being. Former member of Starfleet or not, she is still a person. And a mother. And to some, blood or not, a sister."
