Mission: Shadow Dance

ON

Praxx waited outside the main hangar for the air ships, waiting for the Starfleet representatives to join him. He still did not understand this transporter technology of which they boasted, but he had provided the location and the time and was assured that he would be met there.

He paced in front of the hangar, impatiently awaiting their arrival.

Seconds later Leroys fighter broke the Atmosphere, as he started his landing sequence to the Jenefran surface, circling the air field once, then landing in front of the hanger. The cockpit popped open, letting Leroy jump out and land on the ground. In his flight suit, you could make out the combat knife he kept strapped to his arm during any flying, and he had an old pulse EMI Pistol on his hip. "Morning, sorry I'm late. Last minute packing before I go off to parts unknown." The cockpit lowered behind him, then locked until he put in the correct passcode.

Praxx looked over the ship, both impressed and critical of the large contraption before him. "And these are useful in planetary observation?"

"Not this one, no." Leroy said as he turned and smiled at his Scorpion Fighter. "These are for space based combat, and have been used for planetary combat a few times. Mostly during the Dominion War. I'm taking her out for a run back to my home world for recruitment. Lieute
nant Hirasawa will either be bringing down her own shuttle or transporting." Turning back he smiled. "Now, your air vehicles are used for spying, bombing runs, what else can you use them for?"

"Ah. That makes more sense," Praxx relied, looking more relieved. "Aerial surveillance, mostly. We do use them for transporting and deploying ordnance. We follow troop movements. Our history is not as littered with violence as yours has been, so the need for air combat is far less."

"That and by all reports that I've been privy to, your current adversaries are far less advanced to the point where they don't have an air force, or the knowledge of how to build one." Moving closer to the hanger, he noticed the fixed baloon craft and smiled. "Are you sure that you didn't have prior knowledge of ancient Earth Air Craft? This looks like the Hindenburg that was in use for a couple of trips before it was decommissioned forcefully."

"Adversaries?"

"Your enemies?" Leroy said still smiling. "I believe there is a small conflict with another species on this planet?"

He waved his hand in the air dismissively. "There are the Qunari, but they are no match for the Jenefran military," he said.

"I do have a question," Leroy said as he moved closer to the airship. "What is the fighting about? Are they hoarding something that your people need to continue with your warp technology? Or did they attack one of your cities in malice?"

Yui sat back as the Type 11 shuttle darted above them. The large shuttle turned in the air, did a quick sweep of the airfield and then lightly touched down next to the fighter. Compared to the fighter the shuttle was much bigger, but boasted the same speed.

The doors opened on its side and Yui stepped out.
"So, what did I miss?" she asked with a grin as the nacelles blue glow slowly faded out.

Praxx's eyes widened. "What is THAT?"

"Ah that" Yui said with a grin as she looked over at LeRoy. "Thats a type Eleven Federation Shuttlecraft" she explained. "She can be used for short and long range missions from the main ship, and she is capable of atmosphereic and deep space flight. She's not as maneuverable as the fighters, but she is more for science and exploration purposes" Yui paused for a few seconds. "And she's far more comfortable, more space to 'move' inside" she said glancing over at LeRoy to see if he got the message of what she might be trying to tell him about them...

Praxx looked at the large shuttle for several moments. "Then why do you wish to see our ships?"

"It's the Federation way," Leroy answered, looking confused at Yui. "When a planet is trying to become a member there is a fair amount of trade, both of technology and of resources. We like to see what the hopeful members have, and what they use them for." He was still confused but he was more worried about the airships at the moment. Checking his chronological, he smiled. "We are also explorers and learners. What we see here someone else would love to learn about. How it moves and works."

"Ah," Praxx said, mollified. "Come this way."

He led them to one of the large air ships. "The King will occasionally use one of these to tour his kingdom. It allows the people a chance to see him, but flies too high for weapons. We have not had an assassination of a member of the royal family in two hundred years. We do not wish a disgruntled farmer to change that now." As he spoke, he moved down to a second air ship. "On the rare occasion fighting breaks out, we can also use these to monitor the enemy, direct our own troops, or drop the occasional explosive device."

"Has there been a reason for the current regime to be attacked?" Leroy asked a little confused. "And you haven't answered my pervious question as to the fighting with the so called primitives."

Praxx waved a hand dismissively in the air. "Every so often a faction will decide to rise up and rebel against the King, or two villages will fight each other. Did your planet not have wars in its history?"

"Several, and we always had a reason that someone would make up in the beginning," Leroy said low. "But thats not the point, I'm here for any of the air craft that you have, and space craft as well." Looking at the other balloons he looked confused. "And the ordinance you use from this ship as well," he added walking closer to the second dirigible.

"That we store in another building," Praxx said. "I'll take you there next. One of our space craft is down for repairs, so I can show you that, as well."
