[OLD]

"The fabric is very reminiscent of that era," Teenah said appreciatively. "However, you do not look like a Gertrude. Samantha suits you better."

"Thank you," Sam said, giving Teenah a bow. "I think I prefer being a Samantha, too."

[NEW]

Damion scoffed at attending a ball, but Ronnie wanted to participate, so she dressed as 16th century noblewoman Catherine de' Medici who purportedly ran her own spy ring and walked onto the holodeck, feeling a bit awkward as she hadn't completed acclimatized to being back on a starship. She looked around at all the costumes and the people chatting and got herself a glass of juice before finding an empty table to sit and people watch.

Jayna had debated a long time about showing up dressed as a Bajoran resistance fighter, but as that was what she had been for her early years she scoured the computer database for something that would be both fun and appropriate. She settled on a Ninja warrior from ancient Earth and slipped quietly onto the holodeck to skulk around and see what everyone else was up to. She heard there were activities besides dancing and she was eager to try her hand at something.

Drani smiled as she recognized Dr. Newman and a few others from her staff. They deserved this break. She made her way over to the archery contest, watching a few of the crew compete in archery.

It was like a fond memory from home; the costume of the dancer, he had to admit her figure in that dress got a reaction from him. He walked up behind her at the bar and leaned in close he whisper in her ear.

"Hello Maria." He put a hand gently on her opposite shoulder. "You are so stunning it makes me homesick."

Maria turned to smile at Hans. "That is the sweetest things anyone has ever said to me." She looked him over and smiled at his costume. "Que guapo eres."

"Care to live up to your costme?" He gave her a smile. "I thin we can arrange some appropriate music?" He offered a hand.

She returned his smile and took his hand. "Claro que sí."

[Archery]

Jayna always like a challenge, and archery was definitely that. She knew the basics, and had used a bow once upon a time, but not since joining Starfleet. She waited her turn and took aim, pleased that, although she missed the bulls-eye, she wasn't far from it.

Spartacus walked up for her turn; looking at the target she had the recurve bow, a stronger pull or if one knew the trick it was easier for a woman to fire it and make a good show of it as well. Notching the bow that was above her head she brought it down while extending it to a full pull when it was at the perfect eye level and her left eye had the lock she let the shaft fly and just in the outer edge of the center red

"I am out of practice she giggled a bit.

"Nice shot," Jayna said.

Drani was impressed. During her time as a resistance member during the Dominion Occupation of Betazed, she learned to hunt wildlife with a bow. It was a silent, deadly, and nearly untraceable primitive weapon.

"Impressive," Ronnie said, coming up to join the women. "I'm Ronnie. Mind if I have a try?"

As no one was currently taking a shot, she selected a bow that was comfortable in her hands and an appropriate arrow and lined up for her shot. She knocked the arrow and took aim, her arrow landing near Teenah's, but not quite as centered. She took two more arrows and again aimed. The other two landed respectably on the target. "I really need to practice more often."

"As do I," Jayna replied. "Perhaps we could set up a practice session together?" It might be nice to get to know Ronnie. They were both involved with complicated men who worked in Intel, so they had something in common.

"I'd like that," Ronnie said with a smile.

Spartacus took a second arrow and taking the aim that wasa bit more than the first she placed her arrow exactly where she wanted it. Right between the two arrows Ronnie had placed.

"Could I come along, I just hope I can keep up." Spartacus said with a genuine smile Then let one fly between that shot and her center shot. "Luck is not a lady."

[Main Party]

Drani noticed Mara still scoping out the room and made her way over to her. "How are you enjoying the party?"

Mara smiled at Drani as she approached her. "It's very fun, I'd have to say." She took the final sip of her drink then put the glass on the bar. "This was a very good idea of Commodore. She must be a history buff."

Drani nodded. "That she is. And I sense that you are as well?"

"In my previous life..." She paused long enough to pick up the now full glass from the bar. The bartender, and she had made a deal while no one was around. She took a sip then continued. "I was a bit of an archaeologist." She smiled remembering the fond memories of her travels. "How about you...any love for the history?"

"I'll have a Samarian Sunrise," Drani told the bartender. She then turned to Mara and shook her head slightly. "Not really. Mostly my interests lie in arts such as singing, dancing, and painting. And of course, Medicine." She accepted the drink from the bartender and took a sip.

Mara nodded. "Well, I already know you practice medicine, but do you do any of the other ones?"

"Yes, I dance, sing, and paint," she smiled before taking a sip from her drink. "I like to think I'm good at the first two but am still working on the third."

"I'm sure you are much better at it then I am. I can hardly draw a stick figure." She laughed. "I've dance a lot and I like to sing but only when I'm in the shower."

"I'm sure you're very good at singing, besides, shower singers make the best singers," Drani laughed.

"I don't know about all that." Mara said with a gentle shrug of her shoulders. "So, you and Lt. Barak...You two seems cute together." Mara said with a smile.

Drani smiled. "Thank you. We've been seeing each other for about three months now."

"That's great to hear." She said taking another sip of the drink.

Just like the devil who appears when spoken of, Arnon appeared next to Victoria with the requisite pointed ears and goatee but sadly without the horns and pointed tail. He stepped in close to Victoria and slipped an arm around her waist.

"Hello," he said.

"Well, speak of the devil," Drani smiled, looking at Arnon.

Arnon snapped his fingers.

"I knew there was a reason I had a burning sensation in my ears," he said. "You know, I really need to find an opportunity to wear a Terran devil or demon costume."

Yui eventually arrived. She was dressed in a light blue collared shirt and trousers. She had several logo's on her shirt, one being the Japanese Flag the other being that of the old NASA Corporation. She had decided to come to the ball as Chiaki Mukai, the first Japanese Woman ever to go into space.

To her she was an inspiration, although she had accidentally fallen asleep and missed the first part of the ball she believed now that she was better late than never. She wandered lazily over to Leroy and pulled on his sleeve.
"Hi..." she said softly.

Turning slightly to see who was tugging on his sleeve, he smiled, leaning down and kissing her cheek gently. "Hi back. Glad you could make it. Who has the con while you're here?"

"Ensign Lighton" Yui said. "Nothing too hard to handle, flying in a straight line" she explained with a smile. "What I miss?"

"Not a lot," Sam answered, walking up to the couple. "Hello, Yui. Nice costume. Glad you could make it." She nodded to Leroy. "Get some food and enjoy yourselves."

Sam moved off to check on another group of people, glad that everyone seemed to be having fun.
