Mission:
Of Gods and Men
Location: Gekkaro IV

[OLD]
Arnon had woken early and did some exercise then bathed and dressed. The woman who ran the kitchen in the inn was kind enough to give him what he was reasonably sure was a coffee like drink, some kind of fruit juice, and some other food that looked harmless. He had discretely scanned the food with his medical tricorder when he was alone. Warmed up, bathed, and fed, he set off for the commodore's room. He'd waited until an hour that was at least more decent than not so as not to interrupt anything between the commodore and her husband. If he was married to Samantha York, he'd certainly take advantage of all of the 'alone time' he could get with her.
[NEW]
Arnon arrived at the door carrying a small jug of the coffee-like drink, once of the juice, and some kind of pastry the kitchen help had given him. His hands full, he tapped at the door with his foot.
"Room service," he said, cheerfully.
Sam was waiting for the others to arrive. She opened the door and smiled. "Good to see you. Come in."
Arnon entered and set the tray down on a table.
"Commodore, Colonel," Arnon said. "Eat, drink! Whatever is happening, skipping breakfast won't make it better!"
He was trying to keep his humor up. He was worried about Victoria, but giving into that wouldn't do him any good at the moment. He'd have to trust that the Commodore would come up with some way to reunite the Away Team with the Calypso...if they were still alive.
"You're right. Have a seat and join us. The others will be arriving shortly, then we'll head to the temple." Sam paused and then continued, her tone more somber. "Illise and Teenah were captured last night. They're being held prisoner at the temple. For now, they are being treated well."
Kara knocked on the door and pocked her head in, hearing the last of Sam's comment. She opened the door and walked in with Cam. "They've been captured? They were in their room when Cam and I turned in. Everyone was accounted for."
"I think they went out again," Sam said, going off an impression she got from Teenah. "That doesn't matter. What does matter is that the Calypso is gone and two of us are imprisoned. We need to find out more but we need to be extremely careful."
"Do you have to put on such limitations? If lizard dude had done what he did to any other race, they'd have invaded the entire planet by now" Cam said, showing signs of frustration, "I don't think diplomacy is our best play here"
"We have to find out who he is and where he came from first," Sam said. "And we still can't violate the Prime Directive. So we can't come out with guns blazing or we'll all end up spending the rest of our lives on a penal planet." She smiled at Damon and then turned back to Cam. "I think both of you understand the balance we have to maintain -- at least for now."
"Surely we can put the prime directive to one side in this situation. This guy clearly has far more advanced tech than everyone else," Cam said.
"Rules are rules, Captain." Damon said, although he was far more in favor of kicking down doors than he was prepared to let on. "But that doesn't mean we can't stoke whatever fires might already be smoldering." He looked to the group. "If these people are anything like humans in our history there is bound to be dissidents. Might be a good idea if we can quietly start doing some investigating and find out who they are." He shrugged. "I'm not suggesting anything...illegal..." He hoped the subtext would be enough. He, like the others, had already decided that they weren't leaving without their crew members. His suggestion would clearly be a last resort.
"Damon's right. We can't put aside the Prime Directive. But we do need information. Information on who Frenatus is, what he's doing here, how he attacked the Calypso. And as Damon said, we also need to quietly see if there are any dissidents that may wish to give us further information. There's breaking the Prime Directive, and there's preserving a planet's natural progression."
"Great, I hate spec ops missions" Cam said, walking over to a nearby chair and sitting down.
Sam nodded. "We'll need to split up." She smiled at Damon. "Into pairs. Some can go into the village and listen to the talk, see if there are any dissenters. I would like to have a good look at the temple."
"Kara and I will go into town and start investigating, discreetly of course" Cam said
Kara nodded. "I think we could get some good intel there."
"Perhaps I could pair with Commander Martin?" Arnon said. "Jenkins has been steeping in his own flatulence for the last eight hours. If I can't find the Commander, I'm sure I can handle myself on my own."
Sam nodded. "If Jenkins is causing that big a stink, perhaps he should stay here and keep an eye on our rooms."
The gong sounded again and Sam stood. "Okay, let's get to the temple and see what we can find. Remember, we still have to honor the Prime Directive, so don't get in trouble."
She walked to the door and stopped just before opening it again. "And please stay with your partner or partners. We've got two in trouble, I hope to extract them without any further ado." With that, she opened hte door and walked out, the others following close behind.
