Of Gods and Men
Location: Conference Room

Damon nodded to the Captain's sensibilities. At least he was trying to follow regs. "Be picky about who you bring, Cam. Marines that can blend in might be a better choice than those with a dead eye." The Colonel then smiled at the man. "This will be your show, however, I'm just a tourist."
"You're my favorite tourist," Sam corrected. "And my first choice for any away team."
Cam nodded, "I appreciate that Sir, as well as the advice. The though with both of us down there, I don't believe there would be a need for that many more Marines"
[NEW]
"You should take a couple of engineers as well. If there is some form of tech down there that shouldn't be, we can get it removed and studied properly." Chris said, taking a sip of his coffee. "I'd be happy to volunteer, or I can send down my assistant Elley." Chris suggested.
Cam sighed. Honestly he didn't like the idea of taking more non-combatants down to the surface, but Chris made a good point, "ok, but only two engineers at the most. The smaller the group we take down, the less protection they'll need"
"One. I don't want too many people on the team," Sam said.
Drani took a deep breath and exhaled. "You'll likely being transported to the surface, so if it's ok, I'll stay aboard ship, however if you require a medical officer, I'd recommend Arnon as my representative as he is a qualified medical doctor."
"All right," Sam said. "If you prefer to stay on board, then Lieutenant Barak can serve as our medical officer."
Drani nodded. "Thank you," she said quietly. She would liked to have gone but the transporter still terrified her. She felt like a coward, as if she was failing Sam and the crew somehow. She turned in her seat, and looked out of the viewport. 'Why did I come back?' She thought.
Arnon picked up on Victoria's distress, if not the reason for it. He projected his concern for her. He couldn't actually project emotions, but he thought that if he felt his concern and support for Victoria loudly enough, she might pick it up. He made a note to ask her later what was bothering her.
"It's okay," Sam assured the doctor. Victoria's thoughts were strong enough for her to pick up on, but she didn't want the doctor to think she was prying. "You have enough to do here on the ship."
Yui wasn't really paying attention. She was far too busy munching on the breakfast pastries. She just did as she was told when it came to flying the ship. She was on her seventh pastry, but that didn't bother her because her tummy was now full. She was starting to feel a little sleepy though.
Austin sat back and making a few notes to herself. She half considered volunteering for the mission herself. "I can stay behind and co ordinate from Ops Sir. I will have Lieutenant Syed coordinate with the pilots as well."
Sam nodded. "Thank you. We'll need a lot of support from the ship to make this work," Sam said to Austin.
"I vill keep da bridge at the ready." Munich said with his striong German accent showing through. "Nothing iz as easy as sounds." He pointed out. "I vill make sure you have communicator that will have da landing party's biosignatures in each one, anyone else it vill not function." He smiled. "Just a security precaution."
"An excellent idea," Sam said. "We don't plan on losing them, but it's nice to know they won't cause any inadvertent problems."
"I vill have the crew in da office start on dem." Munich said as he tapped his PADD. "Do you have any prefernce?"
"I'd like them to look like jewelry -- masculine and feminine -- so no one qustions what they are," she said.
"Da observations done by Counselor Spartacus have given us a goot idea ov what to use and I vill have a selection for the crew." Munich nodded. "The systems vill vork as needed, just be sure no one else touches the items or dey vill not vork."
Sam nodded. "Thank you. That will work well."
Maryam, who had been wrestling with herself over whether to volunteer for the away team, felt relieved. She had become accustomed to volunteering but her recent struggles had given her something of a phobia to them. It had been months now since she had been on board and the place had become home. It was relatively peaceful, and she felt more at ease. There would be no ruining that just yet.
But in order to combat the silence pressing down on her, Maryam coughed. " I wish you all the best of luck." she said, her voice sounding too loud to her ears.
"Yea, it'll be fun to stretch our legs on a new planet" Cam said with a smile, "and if things go horribly wrong, my marines can be deployed within two hours to come and rescue our sorry asses"
Sam nodded to Maryam. To Cameron she said, "I hope it won't come to that, but I know I can rely on the Marines if we get in a bind."
Cam nodded, "they'll do their job well"
Sam nodded back. She had no doubt of that. The Marines had been invaluable on more than one occasion. She looked around the table. "Is there anything else you'd like to bring up?"
"Now there are some men I would like to see their legs while coming to rescue me." Spartacus commented. 'Definetly worth the reassuring view."
Sam glanced at Damon, a twinkle in her eye. It reminded her of one of their first away missions, and the biting fish... "Okay. Tomorrow morning at 0900, the away team will meet in the transporter room. Dismissed."
