But now she was realizing a bigger dilemma; who to talk to out of the dozens who had flocked here. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves; to step into any group and start a conversation would be to break their summer reverie, and she did not want that. So she dithered by the door until she realized how awkward she looked there and no doubt some well-meaning crewmember would come along to help her break someone's summer reverie. Which, if she was going to do, she wanted to do alone. So she made her way to the bar in the hopes that they would have a soda that she could pretend to be distracted by and hopefully find someone there to strike a conversation with.
Jayna saw the newcomer and decided to address her and give Jennifer a break. "Hi. My name's Jayna. Help yourself to a drink and sit down."
[NEW]
" Hello Jayna! I'm Maryam," Maryam replied, taking a seat. " I wonder if they have Coca Cola here...? I don't drink alcohol or tea or coffee. Juices are pretty unreliable. So water and soda is all that's left." she joked.
"They should," Jayna assured her. "They stock pretty much everything."
Yui had spread a large white blanket over the soft sands. She placed the large watermelon in the middle of it, she then drew a line in the sand with her foot.
"Ok. Who wants to play?!" she asked holding up a blindfold as she picked up a large stick from the ground.
Drani removed her crochet wrap, placing it on the bar. She approached Yui. Since I'm new on the Calypso, I'll go," she smiled.
Kara came out of the water and joined them. "I'll try next," she said.
TAG YUI
Munich was having fun just seeing what the others do for fun. "So do you vant to bust melon or... maybe you would like to swim?" He smiled. "It iz a luau and the ocean is just steps avay?"
Maria raised an eyebrow. "We could do either, if you wish. Or go see where that path leads," she said, nodding towards a path leading away from the beach.
"I am curious where that path could lead?" Munich offered an arm as gentlemen do. "It is wise to follow a lady's suggestion."
Maria slipped her hand through his arm. "Bien. Let's see what's inland."
Munich was quite content to have some time with Maria; she did have a way of making things better. He could not help but grow a smile as they walked.
"I did mention you look beautiful, yes?" He asked Maria. "f not den let me remind you that you are."
"Thank you," Maria replied. She wasn't used to compliments, so she smiled and replied. "You look pretty good yourself. I don't think I've seen you out of uniform. Well, except for the work clothes," she added, referring to the planet they'd both been on when they'd lost their memories.
Illise walked briskly down the corridor towards the hollodeck, her feet making a slight slapping sound in the soft thong sandals she wore. She was impossibly late. Ridiculously late. She chided herself again for open that file. If only she had just let it be until after the party, then she might not be running in at the last minute. But she had waited so long for that data...
Illise sighed and stopped just short of the hollodeck doors, taking a moment to make sure her outfit was in order. She wore a wide dark blue floppy hat, a bikini with small blue flowers set in a black background, and a short wrap-around of a sheer material that matched the colour of her hat tied at her waist. While the bikini bottoms were quite typical, the top was not unlike a short blouse, open at the front and tied quite low, with sleeves that ended in a cuff a few inches above her elbows. It cleverly hid the tattoo on her upper arm. Illise was by no means ashamed of it, but preferred not to have to answer too many questions - relations being as they were with the empire.
Satisfied, Illise stepped into the party. It was pleasantly warm and the cheerful hum of a dozen conversations greeted her. With a genuine smile, she made her way to the bar and ordered a Blue Sharp, an alcoholic Earth drink that was both sweet and sour at the same time, with a lovely lime flavour.
Drani was splattered with watermelon and made her way into the water to wash the juices off of her. She waded in until she was waist deep and dived under, surfacing a few seconds later, feeling refreshed that she was no longer covered in sticky watermelon.
[Later]
The sun hung low over the water when Sam stood. "Thank you all for coming. I believe it is important from time to time to relax together as a crew. This party will go as long as you wish to stay here. But before I allow you to leave or stay as you wish, there is one Polynesian tradition that I wish to share with you."
She untied her skirt and replaced it with a hula skirt. She slipped two bands of flowers over her wrists and walked back into the center area in front of the tables of food. "Anyone who wishes to join me is welcome."
Three hula girls joined her. In a flat, sandy patch to the side several men with drums began to play.
Laying on the beach with his arm around Kara, Cam looked up at Sam hula dancing. He considered asked Kara is she wanted to join in, but that would mean he'd have to get up and dance, and that wasn't going to happen any time soon.
Kara, too, looked over at the Captain and decided she liked where she was. Besides she was too comfortable where she was to move. Maybe she and Cam should find a beach somewhere for their honeymoon. A private beach.
The towel dry was enough as she replaced her flowered wrist and ankle lays with the head bad still in place she laced the skirt back in place and went to the flat patch of ground; a certai sway to her hips as she was so looking forward; as she had come dressed for the occasion, for the Hula Dance. Her steps were measured and balanced like a model walking a catwalk, her natural style of strides that had been ingrained in her since she could walk.
Thought you would never get around to this?" Spartacus winked to Samantha.
"I had to wait for the right time," Sam said, grinning at Teenah. The five women lined up and the lead dancer began.
Drani was never one to pass up a dance and changed her bottom into a hula skirt and joined Sam and the other dancers.
Sam smiled at Victoria as she joined the others. She had to admit, this had been a lot of fun.
