Trent didn't hesitate; he rose up again and took a few snap shots at the man. None hit this time, but it did force the man to find cover farther inside the hopper. After he lost sight, Trent turned and ran into the forest. "Hope that helps guys." He said through gritted teeth.
[NEW]
Stockton swore. He didn't realize there was a man left outside. He sent one of his men after the fleeing Marine. "Kill him." The man had been bleeding from J'trey's attack, but he ran outside, glad to be out of the fight. Stockton pointed his gun at J'trey. "Enough horseplay. Don't move or I'll kill you."
One of the women stood near the doctor, pointing a gun at her. However, she didn't think the doctor was much of a threat so divided her attention between her and J'trey.
The other woman aimed at a Marine on the ground. "Let me kill him," she asked Stockton. "So we don't have to worry about him anymore."
"Not yet. We need them in case the fools at the cave return." He gave the others an evil grin. "Your friends in the cave, however, will be dead by morning. No chance of getting them out. There's been a large cave-in." He chuckled.
Leanne wanted to pull her phaser out but she is afraid to as the woman has a gun pointed at her. The other crewmembers could get killed too. She remained quiet, thinking of different ideas of how to get out of this mess.
"That was stupid," Stockton said once he'd regained his equilibrium. "Everyone, SIT DOWN or we start shooting. It's really not worth it, now, is it?" He waited to see what the others would do next.
"You okay, Bak'ten?" The doctor asked as she sat down like she was told, keeping her eye on him and the leader.
"I'll be fine as long as we got outta this mess soon. That, and I think I may have one or two broken ribs, and a broken jaw and nose." He said, trying to laugh but finding pain in doing so. "How're you holding up?"
"Okay, I guess. I do need to fix that but can't..."
----
Suddenly, their combadges beeped. "Orion to Away Team... Is anyone there?"
Earlier, Leanne has removed her combadge and placed it behind her back, under her uniform. She touched it with her hand behind her back, without anybody noticing it. Her purpose is to keep the line open. She raised her voice up a little to be heard over the combadge, "Should one of us answer it? You have your guns pointed at us so we are asking."
"No, one of us shouldn't answer it," Stockton sneered. "What do you think we are, stupid?" He chucked at his own joke. The other three chuckled, too. "We have people on your ship. They'll be too busy to help you anyway. As soon as your other friends are dead, we'll take you someplace... safe." The word sounded menacing.
You sound stupid yourself, she wanted to say out loud. Leanne was glad that her combadge was left open for her people to listen in, hoping that they could hear that they are in danger. "We are all not safe here...especially with those guns on us. We are explorers on a peaceful mission and we rescue those in need," she said, hoping to buy time. "Who are you, anyways?"
"That's none of your business. All you need to know is that we want your ship, and we'll get it," Stockton replied.
Sheridan knew that wouldn't happen. The boarding party had failed. Operations had found the Hopper and soon Mr. Stockton would have more company that he could handle...
He walked to the console and notified the Gunny he needed as many Marines as possible to meet him in the Transporter room in five minutes...
Sheridan saw Lieutenant Thrax, "Thrax, you know the situation, Beam down, secure the shuttle and evac the wounded. Take Stockton alive if you can. It may turn into a hostage situation so hit hard and fast."
Thrax beamed down with Master Chief John Henry and Petty officer Jessica Ramirez. They were standing in a hidden part outside. Stockton and his accomplices hadn't seen them beam down.
"Let's lock and load guys." she whispered, and powered up her compression phaser rifle.
The team took aim at Stockton and was about to fire when they noticed the delicate situation they were in.
Stockton watched Bowen and J'trey for a minute. "Good. Stay that way and I won't have to shoot you." He began to pace as he and his three helpers continued to watch the others.
The doctor growled softly as she is beginning to hate him. She has looked at J'trey several times, hoping that he doesn't have any internal bleeding when he got into the fight earlier. Her job is to treat the injured, not sit here and do nothing.
Before the three enemies could react, Shigna Thrax and her security team opened fire on them. Stockton and his men put up a valiant effort, but in the end each was taken down by the phaser fire of the security detail.
Having captured the enemy and secured the crew, Shinga checked on the hostages:
"Mr. J'trey. It's nice to see you again. You may not remember me, but I took over control of Security after that traitor Binjole Nartu tried to kill you. I hope you are alright."

Trent had been playing cat and mouse with the pirate on his tail for a number of minutes. He would lose the man around a rock face or by hiding in a bush, but his bad luck would catch up with him and he would accidentally step on a dry twig or branch that would set the pirate back on his path. He was no scout, he was a rifleman, this sneak and not be seen thing wasn't part of his expertise.
He found a large fallen tree stump to shuffle under when he heard the weapons fire begin. He wasn't sure what was happening, but he noted that is was phaser fire, not automatic, that was making all the noise. He was anxious to find out what had happened, but he wasn't sure where his tag was. He decided to stay put until he knew for sure.
Turns out, less than a minute later the pirate came within a few feet of Trent's hiding place. Trent held his breath for fear that it might make enough noise to stir the enemy into locating his hiding place. The pirate moved past very slowly, obviously curious of the weapons fire himself but weary of his query’s whereabouts.
Once the pirate had walked past the stump, Trent decided it was time to end this game. He slowly pulled out his K-bar and silently crawled out from under the stump. As he moved closer to the pirate, he carefully made sure of his steps so that it didn’t fall on something that would give away his movement. He saw the man look to his right and left as Trent approached from behind, but he didn't seem to notice his imminent peril.
The time was now. Trent blitzed the last few steps, hazarding exposure, towards his prey. His left hand lifted up and wrapped around to the pirates mouth to muzzle any sound as his right hand reached around and deeply dug the dagger into the man’s chest. At first the pirate struggled, but after a few seconds he could feel the man go slack under his deadly embrace. He gently pulled the man to the ground and deposited him on the leafy soil.
Trent removed his dagger and cleaned it off before returning it to its holster. He took one more look at the dead pirate and shook his head. ~What a waste~ He said to himself. At that he took up his rifle and headed back to camp.
It had been a rough day so far, hopefully his luck was about to change...
