Mission: Deadly Diplomacy

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

An explosion rocked the ship, knocking people to the ground and again taking out the power.

Sam picked herself up off the floor and took her seat. She tapped her combadge. "Engineering, what's your status and how soon can you get power back online?"

[Engineering]

As the attack began, Chris felt a wave of panic wash over him. He hadn't been in any actual battle for years, having worked at Utopia Planetia, but now here he was. He went to say something, but stopped as he saw several armed people enter engineering. "EVERYBODY GET DOWN!" Chris yelled, before leaping out of the way to avoid being shot by a phaser blast. The shot struck a console behind him, sending sparks everywhere.

Racing to the wall, Chris opened the security locker and pulled out a phaser, just as two engineers were hit by the intruders. Another shot hit a console, destroying it, and sending shards of it into the wall, and some shards into an engineer. Chris quickly fired in the general direction of one of the intruders, but he missed.

One of the intruders made his way over to a console, and began to tap away at Chris. Chris, from where he was standing, activated his own console and sent an overload, which sent the intruder down to the ground.

He felt the ship shake from an explosion, and the lights began to flicker. He then heard the commodore speaking to him.

"We're under attack at the moment." Chris said, as a phaser shot went past his head. "I'll get back to you on a repair time."

"I'll notify security. Take care of your people first. York out."

As Chris fired at the intruders, he growled angrily. "Damned sons of bitches coming into my engine room and shooting it up." He snarled. He watched as three of his engineers armed themselves, and began firing at the intruders. "Cover me." He said, as he ran for a ladder. He climbed up it, and reached the upper deck area, where he saw another intruder standing over him. "You're big." Chris said. "You as dumb as you look?" He asked. Before the intruder could react, Chris thrust himself forward, sending the man to the ground.

As Chris stood up, the intruder also got to his feet, and threw a punch at Chris. He avoided the blow, and aimed a kick at the man's chest, sending him stumbling backwards. Chris went to grab his phaser, but saw it on the deck. As he leapt at it, the other man leapt at it, but missed as Chris grabbed it, and fired at the intruder. Sending him down to the ground, Chris let out a sigh of relief, but then stood up, seeing five more intruders in sickbay. He began to fire down at the intruders. "HARTLEY TO ANYONE WITH A PHASER, WE NEED HELP IN ENGINEERING!" He called out tapping his comm. badge, ducking to avoid being hit.

"I'm on it," Bosley replied. He and his team raced down the corridors to Engineering. They stopped just outside the doors and Bosley entered his security authorization and then his own special code. The first 8 bars of the Marine Corps song. The doors burst open and his team flooded into Engineering, some going left, some right and others straight ahead, carefully targeting the enemy.

It didn't take long to clear the room.

Sam looked for Hans to make sure he, too, was okay.

Yui who had also been knocked from her seat looked up at the ceiling.
"Ok, that DEFINITELY wasn't me!" she said as she climbed back into her seat.

"Warp drive and impulse engines are offline. We have minimal thrusters and inertial dampners are damaged" Yui reported as her fingers ran across the console. "Navigation sensors are also down, basically we're a sitting goose... I mean duck..."

"Thank you," Sam replied, not at all pleased. "We need power to sensors. Contact the fighters, make sure they're okay and see if they can be our eyes."

"I am on it, Ma'am..." Munich said as he was keying the specialized Emergency channel and not through the main array.

The basic plan was to have the fighters scatter and take up positions in all directions to better enclose a network of sensory systems; the same method as using probes as a relay network, for the Science Systems to utilize the fighter sensry systems.

[Fighters]

Phoenix was temporarily blinded by the explosion of the freighter. She had no idea why it would come on such a suicide mission. Why attack and then self-destruct? It made no sense.

When she could see clearly again, she turned back to see what enemy fighters remained.

Leroy was also looking to see if any fighters remained, his starboard wing and nacelle gone in the explosion. He had tried to get away but too late. "I don't see anything, anyone else see any more?" Praying he was right he checked over the systems of the ship. He had thrusters, but that was it. "Hey Phoenix can I get a tow?"

"On my way," she said. She arced around to be sure she wasn't missing any ships and went to give Leroy a tow back to the Calypso.

=^=Calypso to all fighter, key your slave units for sensory connection, the Calypso will be using you as sensory systems. Fan out in all directions for best sensory net connection.=^= The voice of Munich came over the channel. =^= We will be using your sensors while repairs of ship systems are under way. You all will be our eyes and ears for a bit.=^=

"No sign of the enemy," Phoenix announced to Leroy. "Do you want to go back to the Calypso, or shall we act as eyes for the ship?"

=^= You are to be the eyes of the ship during the duration of repairs made upon our sensory net. =^= The voice of Munich said calmly. =^=The ship needs you out there for the moment.=^=

That answered her question. Phoenix towed Leroy out to where he could sit and scan for the Caly. She went a short distance away and parked her ship so she, too, could scan. When they could, she'd take Leroy back to the Calypso so his fighter could be repaired.

Within moments they began sending back information to the ship.
