Mission: Deadly Diplomacy

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

With Kara's other team firing, they cleared the corridor in short order. "Peters, check the room, make sure it's secured."

"Aye, ma'am," Peters replied, opening the already-unlocked room. He went in right and Johnson went in left.

While they searched the storage room the other team checked the bodies for identification and tagged them for transportation to sickbay.

[NEW]

Peters and Johnson returned shortly after. "The room appears clean."

"Okay. Two teams, we're going door-by-door to make sure the deck is secure. We'll meet back at the turbolift."

"Yes, ma'am." Peters and the other team headed back the way they'd come, checking each room.

"Melo to Bourne. Twelve down and tagged for transport. Medical supply room appears to be secure. Checking the rest of the deck."

=^=Copy that, keep me apprised of the situation=^= Cam replied over the com as he headed for deck 20 to back up Delta Squad

[deck 20]

As soon as the turbo-lift doors opened, Cam was surprised to hear silence. Carefully working his way down the deck to the last reported position of Delta squad, he prepared himself and burst through the doors.

Jumping in surprise, Hernandez was just just finishing up securing the intruders, "um, sir?"

Giving a sigh, Cam put his phaser away, "report in sergeant"

"All's good sir, deck secured"

"Good, take them down to the brig than take your squad to meet up with alpha on deck 12" Cam ordered

[Fighters]

A dozen enemy fighters swarmed out of the freighter and attacked the Calypso's fighters, doubling up so two enemy ships targeted each fighter.

"Oh, man," Phoenix said half under her breath. "They don't do things by halves, do they? Well, harder to miss them this way." She let loose a barrage of missiles and followed them up with her phasers. What surprised her was that they weren't fighting smart. They were attacking and running away, trying to get at the Calypso herself.

Her two were too easy and she spun around to go after the freighter itself. "Boss, they act more like kamikaze fighters.
This doesn't make sense. I'm going after the freighter itself."

Leroy was finishing a hair pin turn that caused two fighters to slam into each other, a bright flash of light of oxygen being used up, then it was dark again. "I got your six Phoenix, let's go kick a beehive."

[Deck 15 - Main Science Lab]

The console was fried. Illise covered her face from a shower of sparks and ducked under a loose panel as she worked her way around it. Over on the other side of the lab she could hear someone moaning. The sound was interrupted by the periodical whoosh of the malfunctioning doors opening and closing.

Illise did her best to ignore the pain in her shoulder where she had taken a glancing phaser hit as she made for cover earlier. With her arm pinned to her side she quietly peered around the room. Sometime during the brief scuffle the lights had been damaged, and the lab was mostly dark, illuminated only by the remaining consoles. She could see one of the other scientist on the floor - he wasn't moving.

They were not alone. Three men were attempting to gain access tot he containment labs with one more watching the main lab, phase rifle in hand. They couldn't blast through the doors, so they were trying to hack the control panel, but their efforts were being thwarted by two scientists inside who were keeping the doors sealed. The men's agitation was growing by the second.

Creeping closer, Illise gripped her phaser in her good hand. They could not be allowed to open those doors. Some of the things stored in the containment labs would do some serious harm if let loose, and others...well they could be very profitable in the wrong hands, and very dangerous. There were too many of them for her to take on by herself, but all she really needed was one good shot to fuse the control panel.

Allen and his team of marines followed in tight formation down the hallway, arcs of fire covered in every direction. They were careful to move silently which was no easy task in their "Bunny suits", the HAZMAT units were really not built for comfort, speed or stealth. But each of them understood the need for extra protection considering the area they were going to secure.

They had already quietly taken out the rogue sentry left to guard the corridor. The two intruders were currently unconscious and zip-tied for later removal.

The marines could hear the phaser exchanges between the the Starfleet officers and the boarders. No matter how badly each of them wanted to run in and help, they all under stood that moving to quickly might put additional lives in danger.

Allen wanted to whisper into the comm something like "get your game faces on", but he knew it wouldn't be professional. Everyone here knew their craft and he knew without a doubt that they would perform exactly the way they had been trained. Instead, Allen simply tapped the shoulder of the man in front of him and the entire team instantly moved as one around the corner.

One of the boarders stood in the doorway to the science lab, his head started to turn to face the unknown threat when the lead marine fired twice. The target twisted as the shots hit him mid section and his body went limp under his own weight. The marines wouldn't have much opportunity to survey since the guard being dropped might have alerted the ones inside the lab. Instead they quickly grouped up and waited for the tap that came a heartbeat later.

The marines busted into the lab and fanned out inside the doorway. The room was barely lit and smoke hung thick in the air. The lab was pretty badly shot up, the Fleeties gave the boarders one hell of a reception.
