Mission: Deadly Diplomacy

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

One of the boarders stood in the doorway to the science lab, his head started to turn to face the unknown threat when the lead marine fired twice. The target twisted as the shots hit him mid section and his body went limp under his own weight. The marines wouldn't have much opportunity to survey since the guard being dropped might have alerted the ones inside the lab. Instead they quickly grouped up and waited for the tap that came a heartbeat later.

The marines busted into the lab and fanned out inside the doorway. The room was barely lit and smoke hung thick in the air. The lab was pretty badly shot up, the Fleeties gave the boarders one hell of a reception.

[NEW]

Allen and the marines quickly scanned the area for targets. In that moment the Sergeant spotted a sentry standing lookout at the same time as he registered the marines entering the room. The seconds seemed to split into fractions as Allen identified the assailant as a hostile and pulled his sight into line with their torso. The assailant, too, raised his rifle and spat off a couple of rogue rounds before Allen responded with a deadly retort of his own. The bulkhead above Allen rained liquid plating and sparks from the wild shots while the Marine's found all three of their marks on the boarders' arm and chest. The attacker fell back and knocked over a table of liquids before laying still.

Illise's finger froze on the trigger of her phaser, the control panel in her sight. The sudden appearance of the marines offered the hope that she would not need to trap her people in the lab. Instead she took aim an a different target.

The noise alerted three additional hostiles in front of a sealed room. In unison they turned and leveled their weapons.

...And then all hell broke out.

Phaser fire filled the air. Illise took a shot at the nearest boarder but only managed a glancing hit as he turned to face the marines. Instead of taking another shot, she made a quick dash for the wounded scientist on the floor and pulled him to safety behind the console where she had been hiding.

-Fighters-

Leroy spun out from directly behind Phoenix, taking the right side of ship, his phasers strafing across the hull of the freighter. He sincerely hoped that either it would draw more people to him, or it would draw more units out of the freighter. Launching a micro torpedo at the nose of the freighter, he peeled off, doing a wide loop, hoping to do another run, possibly at the top side of the enemy vessel.

Phoenix spotted a phaser array and launched a torpedo, following it up with a strafing run.

Another dozen ships came out of the freighter in retaliation.

Two phaser beams split across Leroy's nose, making him jerk the stick wildly. "I didn't start my OCS training for this ? Who's bright idea was this?" Jerking the stick he felt the fighter shudder as he was hit from four different attacks. "I'm gonna haunt who ever decided for us to come out here."

Phoenix flipped and headed back to take out two of the fighters on Mangalia.

Bojay angled the nose of his fighter into a steep arc to pounce upon the fighter to the left, his targeting system gave him a red radicle to flash as the range and attack angle were perfected. He touched the fire toggle to send twin lances into the enemy fighter's windscreen. Shattering the glass and impacting the cockpit and engulfing the forward section of the fighter before exploding.

Wedge arced away from Bojay as his partner had a lock while he took a sighting on his own enemy fighter. Wedge had to accelerate a bit to get a better tracking. The Enemy was setting up for an attack run as Wedge came in from the six o'clock low to send his lances into the belly of the fighter; the resulting shielding tried to block until it gave out under the constant fire then the energy tore into and through the plating . The enemy fighter no longer had positive control as he spun away for five loops then exploded.

A warning klaxon on her fighter caught Phoenix' attention. "The freighter's engines are overloading. Everyone pull back!"

"Picard!" Bojay called into the Comm system to his partner.

"Confirmed." Wedge agreed.

The two of the fighters had a flair of the Warp Drives shot both of the fighters away from the Freighter as though they connected with Bojay pulling Wedge along with him. The rainbow effect from the lead ship partly engulfed Wedge. as they were seemingly thrown away into the depths of space.

[Bridge]

A similar warning rang on the bridge of the Calypso. "Will the shields hold against the explosion?" Sam asked, turning to her crew.

"Not unless we can get further away."

"Yui, get us out of range!" Sam ordered.

To tactical she ordered, "shields at maximum!"

"All ship scatter!" Munich used the open channel to give the command that seemed secondary.

[Charlie Platoon]

A door slid open and two enemy assailants began to shoot at Bosley and his team.

They quickly scattered and found cover, returning fire at every opportunity.

Suddenly the enemy raced at the Marines, yelling and firing. It was a desperate act and they were quickly taken out by Bosley and his men.

An explosion rocked the ship, knocking people to the ground and again taking out the power.
