Mission: Deadly Diplomacy

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

Logan stood there for a moment and let the words sink in. Was he right? Did Jayna care about him that much. Would she overlook what just happened? Did all she need was time? With a deep breath, Logan walked out of the room and followed Remy down the ramp to hand over the prisoner.

[NEW]

With Remy and Logan's approval, Jayna had set up a tiny room in the back of the shuttle for her own personal use. Here she could work on projects with the ship's computer and sleep if she worked into the wee hours. Now, it was a place for her to run away to.

She walked into the room and smiled to see Spock happily munching on a date. "Hi, Spock," she said, going over to sit on the floor beside him. "Let's have a look at you." She picked him up and gave him a hug before checking him over and patching up his scratches. It was a distraction and right now she needed that while she came down from her earlier anger and the hurt from the stupid argument. She never had learned to curb her tongue. Nor was she very good at explaining herself.

Remy walked down the ramp that lead into the shuttle bay, where Security stood ready. Logan walked behind him, carrying the Caitian over his shoulder and keeping on a stern face. When Remy stopped, the large Caitian walked by him and took Kayte off his shoulder and placed her on the ground at his feet, than walked away and took his usual position behind Remy.

"Ensign Sirel?" Remy said as a smile formed on his face. "Is this you card?" He gestured to the unconscious Caitian and placed a hand behind his back while the other still held onto the phaser rifle from earlier.

"This is the killer? How?" Sirel replied, surprised at the turn of events.

"That's just what we do, Ensign. Clean up after Securities mess." Remy replied with a stern look.

Kela was not pleased with his comment, or his tone. She mumbled something in klingon that translated to annoying little worm and gestured to her officers to pick up the prisoner.

Remy replied in Klingon, which translated to Lieutenant Batiste will do fine, Ensign.

Sirel narrowed her eyes and took a moment to relax herself before speaking again. "I'm going to need a full report." She said just before tapping her combadge. =^=Sirel to York. Lieutenant Remy and his team have captured the Caitian murder. We're taking her to the brig if you would like to meet us there for the interrogation.=^=

"Good work. I will definitely meet you there," Sam replied.

Remy quickly tapped his combadge, while clearing his throat. =^=Batiste to York. I will be there personally to give you my full report on behalf of my team. I have one with minor injuries and the other two, I feel, deserve a much needed break for the hours they put in. Also, if you would be so kind, please inform Admiral Hunter that Mister Wolfe is in the clear and once we get what we need from the killer we may also gain the means to get your officers home.=^= He stared at Sirel and added a wink.

"As long as someone from Intel is there, I'm fine," Sam replied, pleased with the outcome. "I'll inform the Admiral. York out."

The Chief of Security narrowed her eyes and bit down on her tongue. There was so much she could say right now but she didn't want to soil the victory. "Allow me to lead you to our Brig, Lieutenant Batiste." She said while slowly raising her arm and gesturing to the doors of the shuttle bay, all the while trying to restrain herself from smacking the annoying little man across the face.

"I believe I know the way. You're dismissed, Mister Logan. I'll take it from here." Remy smiled as he walked over to a Security Officer and handed him the rifle before walking out ahead of the Security team, still holding onto his smirk.

"Yes, Sir." Logan replied, walking back into the Horus. There was much to do. He had to repair the damage in the War Room. Ensure the systems weren't damaged by the fight. Organize anything that was knocked out of place and try his hardest to keep from lashing out at anything.

Spock finished his treat, hugged Jayna, and headed back into the war room. Jayna watched him go with a sigh. Part of her wanted to follow him, but part of her was perfectly happy staying where she was for the next year or two. "Horus, replay the fight in the war room."

She watched the fight play out, carefully observing what each person did and how they reacted. She shook her head. Not good, not good at all. She thought again about what Remy said about protecting Logan. To not make it look like Logan was about to rip her throat out and give credence to Remy's story, she would have to edit the recording. "Horus, pull up Project Whitewash." This was going to take a while.

As Logan made his way to the War Room and saw Spock. "Hey Buddy." He smiled as he knelt down, giving Spock the change to crawl up his arm and sit on his shoulder. Logan raised his hand and rubbed the back of the Capuchin's head. "Done Well, Young Jedi. Reward? Gratitude? Jedi crave not these things. Only dates and many hugs."

With a soft chuckle he walked toward the War Room and stopped by the door of the room Jayna prepared for herself. He raised his hand to knock, but froze before he could do it. Maybe Remy was right. Right now she needed time and that's what he needed to give her. With a sigh, he walked away and proceeded into the War Room.

As he walked in, an alarm appeared on one of the monitors. "What's going on?" Logan asked aloud.

"Someone is trying to run a program not yet cleared by authorized personnel. Should I stop it?" Horus replied, bringing up the file name and where the access was coming from.

Logan took a moment to look it over and noticed that it was Jayna's console in her work area. He touched the screen and authorized the program for use. "Sure. Let it do its thing, Horus." He said with a heavy heart as he looked around the mess from the fight and placed his hands on his waist. "Great. The Monkey saves the day and gets the girl and a cat is responsible for putting me in the dog house. Whose the moron who broke the mirror?"
