Mission: Deadly Diplomacy

[OLD]
The monkey ran off before Logan launched himself at the female. Fortunately, the timing was perfect. Spock was safely out of the room before the situation went from bad to worse. Unfortunately, being half Vulcan, Jayna heard the other woman's whispered comment to Logan and lost her temper.
[NEW]
A dozen thoughts flashed through her mind in the seconds it took her to cross the room. Anger at the female Caitian, Remy's words of caution, the rage in Logan's eyes... If anyone was going to get in trouble, she was.
She pulled Logan aside and grabbed the woman by the front of her uniform and slammed her none too gently against the wall. "Not a prayer, Princess," she hissed. "He's mine." She thumped the Caitian against the wall for emphasis. "Now, you have two choices. You can stand down and behave like a good little kitty, or I'll throw you across this room and show you what happens when I lose my temper. You have ten seconds. One, two, three..."
"I don't need your protection!" Logan growled, grabbing Jayna by the shoulder and turning her around. "Your my mate! Not my mother!" He growled as he eased closer to her.
Remy grew tired of this situation. With other options left on the table, he raised his rifle again and fired at Kayte. He hit her in her chest, causing her to fall back on the wall, than to the ground. In a firm voice he screamed "If either of you don't settle down you'll find yourselves hurtling to the planet from the nearest airlock! Now stop bickering and control yourselves!"
Logan growl as he looked away from Jayna, to Remy, than back to Jayna. He began to breathe deeply as the growl in his throat slowly began to fade. Slowly he began to ease his grip from her arm and pulled away, realizing what he just did and was about to do. "I'm....I...."
"Take it easy, Mister Logan. You too Jayna. The situation is handled. The suspect reached for her weapon again, which forced me to fire her on stun." Remy lowered his weapon and let out a sigh of relief as he looked up to Logan and Jayna, shrugging his shoulders a bit. "At least, that's what the report will say, anyway."
Jayna wasn't going to say anything at that point. Her actions were not only in reaction to the feline making a play for Logan, but also to protect the other woman FROM Logan and the trouble it would cause. His comment about her being his mate and not his mother hurt far more than she let on. And his anger when he turned on her frankly scared her. "I'm going to check on Spock," she announced. She was going to get out of the room and off the shuttle, if she could manage it.
Logan watcher her leave and grew the more concerned about the consequences of what just happened. For a moment, he looked over to Remy who just took a deep breath and shook his head slightly having read her feelings and thoughts before she walked out of the War Room. Logan felt his heart fall as he released a sigh and ran his hand through his mane.
"Pick her up." Remy said softly as he put his rifle under his arm, knowing the Chief of Security might need it. As he ran his hand through his hair, he felt the heartbreak coming from his caitian friend and knew that this entire situation may, or may not, end in the right of way. He hoped, his talk with Jayna, was still fresh in her mind and her vow about caring and protecting Logan had not faded back into her subconscious. "Horus? Remove Alteration Beta 3 and open the back ramp."
"Alteration Removed. Beginning ramp lowering procedure." The AI responded in its monotone voice.
"Logan. Everything is going to be fine." Remy said softly, watching his friend carefully.
"No, its not." Logan replied, trying to hide the sadness in his voice. "You can't possibly know that." He reached down and picked up the Caitian female, placing her over his shoulder and turning to face Remy. "You should have let me kill this bitch."
"And where would that lead? Trust me, better she sees you like this first and deal with it now than later." Remy answered, letting out a sigh before turning to face the door. "If it means anything, consider this a test of her devotion to you. If she can see what just happened and understand that this is a part of you than, hopefully, she learns to accept it. Hell, even help you keep it under control."
"How could you say that?" Logan replied, walking over to Remy and looking down at him.
"Because, I've been through it before. Hopefully, your situation ends up differently than mine did." Remy countered, letting out a deep breath and placing his hand on his friends side. "Give it time, Logan. Patience. You can't change what happened, but you can take precautions to prevent it from happening again. Look forward, not back."
"I'm just afraid-"
"I know, my brother. I know. But you can't expect everything to turn bad. Let it sink in. Allow her time to think things through, then, when she is ready to talk about it. You will know. I don't think its going to turn out as you think it is." Remy said softly.
"How can you tell?" Logan asked.
"Because when she says she cares for you, I can feel it. And feelings like that can't be ignored. Just give her time. Come on. Let's go. Security is waiting." Remy said before walking out of the War Room.
Logan stood there for a moment and let the words sink in. Was he right? Did Jayna care about him that much. Would she overlook what just happened? Did all she need was time? With a deep breath, Logan walked out of the room and followed Remy down the ramp to hand over the prisoner.
