Mission: Deadly Diplomacy

Kela looked over to Mira with a nod. "What about the officers the Admiral is expecting?"
"I don't think you need to worry about them, Ensign. Lieutenant Mira is already familiar with their style and work. You two should have no problem getting accustom to how they think and work." Max gave a slight smirk before finishing his sentence. "Just don't let the little one get on your nerves too much."
"If he does, feel free to give him a good, swift kick," Jayna commented.

Sam cleared her throat to get their attention as she continued. "Captain Bourne, work with Master Sergeant Mangalia. Sergeant Beckinsale and Lieutenant O'Brian to see if you can discover why the shuttle was destroyed. Data says it was a Romulan attack, but I want to be sure."
Sam then turned to Ops and Communications. "Lieutenants Munich and Brown, see what you can learn about the transporter and the cloaked ship."
She then turned to another group. "Lieutenants Barak, Jones and Ensign Spartacus, the peace talks will commence this afternoon. Admiral Blackcat, you're welcome to participate if you wish."
"Lieutenant Andrews," Sam said, "We have a new science officer coming aboard. Get her up to speed."
Andrews looked up from her PADD. "Oh? I mean, yes Ma'am.."
Ilse leaned over to Andrews and whispered with a snicker "That doesn't mean drug her either or attach her to a the nose of one of the fighters either. Also looks like I get to have a nap."
Amarylis sat silently at the table trying to fight back tears but one escaped her eye and ran down her cheek. She was upset by the comments about whipping as her now deceased best friend had been subject to it. She needed no lessons, the Cardassians had seen to it. Somehow she had resisted the urge to blast out at the doctor. But part of her knew it wasn't the doc's fault...
Shut up Amarylis, shut up.she thought to herself.
"Lieutenant Frost, that's quite enough," Sam ordered. "You've upset Sergeant Beckinsale, which takes a good deal, and you've offended half the people in this room. I think you owe them all an apology."
Frost looked up and then stood up her tone sincere "Very well, Captain York, Sergeant Beckinsale, Lieutenant Jones, the rest of you I apologize for being a bit stressed today and releasing my stress as a cheeky verbiage and saying that the young woman in Sickbay who was whipped needs Counseling help." Frost turned back to the Captain "May I go now?"
"That's not what I meant, Lieutenant," Sam said. "It was your joking about torture in front of people who have dealt with more than I hope you ever have to -- specifically, Sergeant Beckinsale. And it was your poorly-timed joke to Lieutenant Andrews about drugging her new science officer and tying her to the nose of a fighter. That's not cheeky verbiage, it's inappropriate humor and it's in very poor taste. Especially in a briefing." To Sam, it was far more telling that the woman, who was supposed to be trained in how to deal with people, didn't understand that what she considered humor was not.
Frost stood there "Yes Ma'am." ~I really didn't mean anything by it~ she swallowed then and glared at Andrews. She would not say anything more, nothing she could or would say would help.
Andrews turned to the Captain.."Mam, no offense was taken, at least by me. Doctor Frost is a friend and co-worker, and she and I often joke with each other. Mo apology is needed with my case."
Damon pushed himself off the wall and started to address the room. "I understand a lot of us are under stress right now. It's important, however, that we not lose sight of what our mission is here and why it is important. If we are going to be successful we need to rely on each other. Now the Commodore has dismissed you all. I suggest we all walk away and take a moment to shrug off whatever dust might be on us. You are professionals and It's time to get your game faces on. We have work to do."
Spartacus wanted to glare but she managed to stop, she rose and started ut of the room as she was closer to the door. A lot ofd historical data from the applications had been filtered through her so far but she knew there had to be something she could use to show a chance to work together with Both worlds to make this fighting stop. She also knew that someone did not want the war stopped? She blamed that damned filthy Ferengi; he had a hand in the pocket somewhere, she knew that in her being.
"Disgusting creatures." She hissed under her breath at the thought of a Ferengi.
Munich was near the Captain, he was an acting Xo of the ship and would be among the last to go, it was his job to serve his Captain. "I am not a telepath ma'am, maybe I vaz lucky in this case?" He tried to be uplifting. "You should get some rest and relax before the delegations are ready , I will do my research from Da Bridge and keep eye on the ship."
"Thank you, Lieutenant, but relaxing isn't possible right now." She glanced at Damon for a moment, grateful he was in the meeting. Even after four and a half years in command of the Calypso, sometimes she still felt inadequate. "But knowing you are on the bridge will give me the time I need to get the peace talks settled. Keep your eye out for whomever killed the delegates to try something else."
