Mission: Revenge

[CONTINUED]

On the far side of sickbay, Alexandra stood by Amarylis' bedside in support of the woman who by Vance's definition would be considered a sister. The medical staff had been very accommodating to the Marine giving her a bed with the privacy of a curtain and immediate care for her malnourishment and subsequent injuries.

The nurse had sedated Amarylis to allow to rest and aid in the healing process. Despite that, Alexandra did not want to leave her side, partially out of compassion, partially out of mistrust.

"Excuse me Commander Vance." Came a voice from the other side of the curtain.

"Get lost." Vance replied angrily.

"Not going to happen Commander, we need to speak with you." the man replied in a more aggressive tone.

Alexandra placed her hand on Amarylis' hand as if to assure her she would return. She gently pushed aside the curtain glaring at the man whom had taken her from her friend. However the man was not alone, he was accompanied by a group of physically fit males undoubtedly some form of civilian security.

"Commander Vance, please accompany us." the man said simply.

"You'll have to give me more then that." Alexandra replied. "My friend here has just experienced a traumatic experience, she requires emotional support."

"Commander I would rather not have to do this in public, one way or another you will accompany us. How is completely up to you." He replied disregarding her concerns.

Vance knew exactly where this was going. She was being taken into custody.

"Very well, lead on." Alexandra said before being escorted from sickbay.

[[Bridge]]

Tom Shanks stepped onto the bridge to meet with Commodore Samantha York. Tom was a handsome, average built man whose hair was slicked back and sheened in the lighting of the ship. The pride of his appearance and undoubtedly a subject of a good chunk of his day. "Commodore York." he said approaching the flag officer in the center chair. "Can I speak with you in your ready room please?"

Sam nodded, not liking the look of the man. "Of course," she said, leading the way to her ready room.

She indicated the chair opposite her desk and took her seat.

Tom took a seat across from Samantha adjusting his posture to get comfortable waiting for her to be seated before speaking.

Good day Commodore, I'm Commander Tom Schultz, Starfleet Command. I'm gonna just put this right out there for you. I have taken your executive officer into custody for dereliction of duty. Commander Vance has long been a thorn in our side and I can imagine yours as well. I am here to put an end to her behaviour and ensure she never sees a bridge again in her life. The woman is a menace."

"You're mistaken. Commander Vance has done nothing amiss and as far as I know she has been no less derelict in her duties than I have," Sam rejoined.

[Marine Deck]

Walking into the enlisted barracks, Cam wanted to check up on the marines that were taken. It didn't take long as most of them were still in sickbay waiting to get the all clear. After he'd finished, he returned to his office to catch up on reports for HQ.

Kara felt fine, but was ordered to sickbay anyway. All she wanted right now was to forget what happened on the planet and lose herself in work and in her studies. She was glad she'd turned in her assignment before disappearing as she really didn't want to explain why she was two weeks late. It was a little thing, but to her it was important.

At least once she was cleared for duty she could go see Cam. He, above all, could help her regain her sense of normal.

[Sometime later in Sickbay]

Dr. Frost reached up and tucked a blonde colored hair behind a ear as she stood quietly near Amarylis Beckinsale and checked on her vitals. The woman still needed more rest and more hydration. Her sedative was still letting her rest comfortably.

Frost turned to leave and check on the next patient a small orion woman with a ton of spunk. She had numerous cuts that needed stitches.

[CO's Ready Room]

Sam eyed the Commander for a long moment. "I'd like to see the charges, and your evidence."

Tom smiled and handed Sam the PADD. "As you can see Commander Vance is being charged under article two of the uniform code of justice. Now as for the evidence, you can see here that when a tri-cobalt device is launched from a starship Starfleet Command is informed and we do an investigation. When we scanned your logs, we noted that when gaining the authorization to launch the device, it was Lieutenant Hans Munich and NOT Commander Vance on one side of the communication. We started to ask why? An action of this magnitude should come at the discretion of a trained command officer, not the operations chief. Digging deeper we found Commander Vance was on the planet. She was the only qualified commander and she left her crew. This is unacceptable, the whole secret squirrel act is over. If she wanted to remain an intelligence officer, SHE could have chose that, but she didn't and now it's time to pay the piper.

"It was the COMMUNICATIONS officer, not Operations," Sam corrected. "And she led a rescue mission because the Commander of this ship had been kidnapped. That's not the same as abandoning her post. Finally, a tri-cobalt device was not launched. It was only threatened. Your facts are in error and your charges spurious."

Sam stood, indicating the meeting was over. "Come back when you get your facts straight."

"Well it appears I have a legal clerk to fire. Irregardless Commander Vance DID leave her crew. FACT, regulation forbids the Commanding Officer from going on any missions. Now I don't have time to chase EVERY commanding officer that does so and well, what's an exec for if not to cover for the CO. FACT, Commander Vance did NOT have a qualified Exec. Operations chief, communications chief, I don't care if he's a janitor he's is NOT inFACT a qualified bridge officer. She can consider herself lucky that device didn't get fired.

Facts or not, she's done. I promise you a better replacement next time." Tom replied smugly leaving her office.
