=^= Taking fire need air support ...=^= Orin was trained to be a good man at the comm; he also knew that if he could 'paint' the area in question it might be better. =^= if any of the fighters want a little ground target practice we would own a Cold one to them?=^=
Taking a chance he rose only enough from cover to point a 'designator' in the general area of the attacking fire. It was a long shot but if the fighters could 'punch a hole' it would help. With the attack the operation was already sighted and even the most foolish would report to the base of the 'infiltration' by Federation Forces."
A small mortar round exploded a short distance from the Marine.

Parhtz turned to Cam. "That was a mortar round. Should we investigate or keep going in?"
Looking at the hole left behind by the shell, he thought it might help, "mortar like this doesn't have that much of a range, a few K's at best. I'd say we're not that far from an entrance. Spread out, look for more holes, another path, hopefully we shouldn't be far off" Cam said.
Parhtz nodded and began to look a little quicker now. The last thing he wanted was to be caught in a mortar fire without knowing whre the enemy was.
"Found a path!" he pronounced quietly a few minutes later. " It goes down here." He led the team into what looked like a small canyon.
Following the team, Cam kept turning around to see if anyone was following them.
Peter grew more and more nervous as they went deeper into the canyon. The walls were steep and had been smoothed by centuries of wind and weather. It was a perfect place to set up an ambush.
What he didn't know was that the guards had moved to a different location to fight another group of infiltrators.
At last, they passed through something that sounded like a large distortion field. All communications failed and everything electronic emitted a loud buzz.
Hearing the buzzing from his combadge, cam smiled, "finally'
Peter turned to the Marine CO. "This is a good thing?"
"The only reason to have an EM field that blocks everything us if you're trying to hide something, and if you want to keep the energy signature to a minimum, you have to keep the field small" Cam explained, putting away his Tricorder and taking off his HUD visor he'd put on before coming down. "A field like this means we're close. Stay close, watch each others backs and check your targets"
Peter nodded. "Roger." He continued down the narrow canyon, looking everywhere for something to jum put at him, but nothing did.
Finally, they neared the end of the canyon and round a dead end. "Now what?" he said to Cam.
"Keep looking, there had to be something here" Cam replied, turning to look around the wall infront of them

Frost opened her tricorder and started a scan she needed to know how many of the enemy there were.
Andrews noticed Frost working her Tricorder. "Find 'em Doc! We'll get 'em!"
Orin heard the last second of Seth's life in the form of pain, the fact he was on the edge of the Motor hit gave him that extra second of agony. The reply had not com from the Calypso; he hoped his transmissions were getting through?
=^= Are your forces out of blast radius?=^= A German accent asked.
=^= Target is at a safe distance... over=^= Orin replied.
The Phasers of a Galaxy class are impressive, like calling fire from the fleet support ships the Calypso fired a single burst onto the coordinates. The landscape around the target area was little more than a crater caused some silence.
"I think someone got the message?" Orin announced. "He had apainted the obvious disruptor fire but had no way to get to the Motor as that would be a longer distance away. "Now if the fighters can home in on the Motors I would think we have a clear path?"
Frost cringed "There are forty eight of them and..." Frost started to take a mental head count of those she knew had stepped on the transporter be for them and approximately how many that were left to come after them. "Yes, the odds are not in our favor. Unless the flyboys come." The doctor's eyes held concern as she looked at Andrews.
Andrews shrugged. "Doc, if I take some down with us, that will be less for the next group to deal with, if need be." Roberta looked at Frost. "Don't worry, I *don't* want to die; have to much to live for. *But* if it's to be, I say we take as many as we can down with us."
Frost looked at Andrews, "Sorry, I do not want to fight. I leave that for Security and the Marines to do."
Andrews looked at Frost. "Ok Doc." Roberta grinned. " Keep your eyes open, and..and if I don't make it.. tell..Oh heck." Roberta looked away, a few tears on her face.
"Think positive thoughts Lieutenant because I'm sure he is thinking of you." Frost replied
Roberta smiled. "Thanks Doc." She replied with a wink.
"Uh-huh." Frost had a creased frown of worry on her forehead "I haven't heard any thing for a while do you think we can move?"
"I wouldn't risk it," Bosley said. "They may be waiting for us to give them a target."

Munich was in command; he had a ship taking fire from all sides it seemed and the safety of all the crew seemed his responsibility. Perhaps his taking a single burst away from defending the ship was uncalled for, maybe he should have pointed that fire in suppression? The fact was a signal from ground forces called for air support and the fighters were getting through a defensive net; Munich knew from his time 'under fire' behind enemy lines that the Communications Man would call air support first thing.
While that bit of fire might have taken out some opposition would help the ground forces; it was a risk as the Calypso felt another impact, the shields were holding and Munich had a lot more on his mind; yet, he hoped his little 'diversion would also help give the fighters a general target to scan for more 'hostiles.?'
