Blackness. No stars. Just a void.

Jason jumped out of his bed, tripped on something like a rock, and fell faced down on the floor with a loud thud. He was glad that he did not hit his head. Then, the lights came on. "Geez..."

Pain. He looked down at his long pajama pants and wondered why. He pulled up his blue cotton material to look at his left leg. Seeing a two inch incision seeping blood, he let out a sigh and pulled himself up from the floor. "I hate being the patient...guess I will doctor my own leg."

He didn't pay much attention to what caused his fall. As soon as he limped into the other side of his quarters, he pulled out some white bandages and wrapped his leg. "Computer, what time is it?"

No response.

"Whatever," the doctor said. He pulled off his clothes and changed into his medical uniform. At the mirror, he quickly combed his hair and checked his teeth for cleanness. He turned and left his quarters into the hallway, heading to a turbolift.

As the doors closed, the turbolift stood still and didn't move. "Sickbay, please." A couple of seconds went by, there was no movement. "Computer, are you listening to me? Sickbay."

Darkness overwhelmed him again and he lost track of time. No stars. Just a black void of nothing. It passed quickly.

"Doctor, are you okay?"

Jason opened his eyes, finding himself on the floor of the turbolift and looking up at Doctor Valdez. Embarrassed as he was, he tried to sit up. "What...what happened?"

"I was about to get on and found you on the floor, Jason. Did you pass out?" Wesley was down on his knees, keeping his hand on Jason's shoulder. "Don't get up too fast."

Doctor Hart felt vulnerable having the surgeon being in charge of his situation. He had no choice but to relax and pulled himself into a sitting position. "I was on my way to sickbay for my morning shift and blackness came over me...then, finding myself on the floor!"

"Jason, it is not the morning shift, yet."

"Are you serious? I've lost it...", Jason frowned. "I was sleeping in my bed...tripped out of my bed...got dressed. How in the world is it night shift still?"

"I don't know. We do need to get you looked at," Doctor Valdez said.

"Oh no...I'm fine," he shook his head with disbelief. "I can't be treated this way." This time, he stood up without help. The pain in his leg got worse. He looked down, finding blood pooling the floor of the turbolift and he gasped. "This can't be happening!"

Darkness enveloped him again with silence for a couple of minutes, or maybe a half an hour as it might seem. He couldn't feel anything but pain. Where am I? Why the darkness?

The emptiness slowly faded.

"Looks like the Doctor is waking up," a female said.

Jason blinked a few times after he opened his eyes and looked at the lady. His focus became clear, recognizing the voice belonged to Nurse Tarango. He felt himself on a biobed. He did a fake half-smile, "Eh. Not again."

Barbara gave him a friendly smile and patted his shoulder. "Doctor Valdez did a small operation on your leg to fix that cut. Feeling better?"

"I must have passed out twice. Well, the pain is gone so I guess I do feel better," he placed hands under the pillow behind his head as he continue to lay on his back. "What medications did you give me?"

"Anesthesia meds...antibiotic...anti-inflammatory."

"Names of them?" He frowned at her.

"He prefers to keep it classified," Barbara said.

"What? Why?" He put his arms down and turned on his side, propping himself with a hand under his right face to keep his head up. "I need to know what I was given, nurse."

"I don't know, but you need your rest, sir. I have duties to attend to," she said. "Excuse me."

He watched her leave without answering his questions. That's not Valdez to keep things from me. I may have the same rank as him, but I have been the leader. Jason was sick of being someone's patient. He sat up and looked around, seeing a few patients were on the biobeds and they appeared to be asleep. Sickbay was too quiet.

Jason was about to jump down from the biobed when he saw Doctor Frost standing there with her arms crossed. He remained sitting and tilted his head, observing her face. "You must be here to check up on me?"

Frost raised her eyebrows and smirked slightly "I am not sure that you need checking on."

Helga passed by Hart and looked at the blood running down his leg. "You're making a mess. Don't you know this is a hygienic room?" she asked. "What will the patients think?" She tut tutted and shook her head, then walked over to Dr. Frost and handed her a PADD. Then walking back out of the room.

Jason shrugged his shoulders at Helga as he looked around again. "Hygienic room?" It appeared that something has changed in sickbay. She left before he could say anything else. "Am I dreaming?" He glanced at Frost standing there.

Frost smiled a mischievous smile and her face flickered to that of one of the owners of Bazinga's. Hart would not know which one until he spoke with them again. She was garbed in medical and had a chopping knife in her hand and he could feel a hypo press against his neck.

Darkness came over him again and he woke up in another place.

Jason sat up in his bed and wiped the sweat off his forehead. "Oh man," he thought about Doctor Frost. "How could she," he thought of the chopping knife in her hand which gave him the creeps. "What a scary dream." He pulled off the sheets to look at his leg to find things were normal. He took a deep breath and got up to get dressed.
